  1. Thought I'd revisit this topic again as it just came up on a document. I have a series of boxes and numbers in front of them. The client wants the boxes and numbers enlarged a bit. I used the transform panel to increase the size by typing 115% and using the center anchor point. There are many elements on the page, so it would be helpful to be able to select the next set and CTRL-R (like Corel) or F4 like Microsoft to simply repeat the last action of scaling the objects 115%, rather than having to type it into the transform panel. Symbols aren't a good workaround as they are all different.
  2. In truth, affinity is my go to suite. I generally start with Designer, and publisher second. I still find photo difficult to adopt, having been a long time, certified adobe, professional, and Photoshop. That said, if font is missing, font is missing. It would be helpful, for all three apps to offer away to easily retrieve that information. I get that Designer is not a topography, focused app, but fonts are absolutely used in it.
  3. It doesn't matter. I could be a particular object on an artboard, or nothing selected at all. I may have figured it out, though. Somehow CTRL= was set to zoom in. I don't think that's the default, but in any event, I've changed it to CTRL+ which zooms in, and when I press CTRL0 it zooms back out...
  4. Well, out of curiosity, how do I determine what fonts are missing? Why on earth would that be intended?
  5. I've been meaning to ask this question for 2+ years now and have just felt stupid, but here goes... When using the text tool (frame or artistic), if I want to change to any other tool, it seems I need to press ESC twice. Otherwise, the keystrokes I'm typing are considered text. Is this expected, or have I been doing it wrong all this time?
  6. If this topic is in the forums for v2, I couldn't find it. When I open a Designer file that is missing fonts, I get the popup window telling me what those fonts are. But before I can get to my actual font manager to load the fonts, it disappears. I can't find anywhere in Designer 2 to open the font manager. What am I missing?
  7. Sorry - you're correct. However, I've never changed those shortcuts. Ctrl-0,1,2,3 etc., have no effect.
  8. @DWright, did you ever get this file? I've slept since then and don't remember. LOL.... And Happy Holidays!
  9. I searched and didn't find anything on it... Since the last update, my shortcut key for Zoom to width (ctrl-0) does nothing. Is this a known thing?
  10. uploaded. After all the playing around with it, I'm not 100% certain what's in the file matches my screen captures... Thanks for looking at it! Clayton
  11. I so confused. I have a postcard set up in Designer 2. There are two sides/two artboards. The front has a bleed. I want to print these two sided, n-up (I'm doing 4 up), with marks and bleeds. When I print, the bleed is not included. I set the document up based on other posts I saw where the bleed couldn't be part of the Artboard and was separated from it. You can see below this is what it looks like when the blue rectangle (which should bleed) is part of the artboard. The second image shows the rectangle outside of the artboard, but when printing and choosing Artboards in the range field, the blue rectangle doesn't print because it's not part of the Artboard. Help!
  12. I've searched and can't find an answer for v2. Can you find/replace in Designer 2? I'm looking for similar functionality to CorelDRAW where you can find objects by attribute and/or change them. In this case, I'm really looking for anything formatted with a specific font to change it to a different font.
  13. It's been a minute since I needed to do this, but did the ability to place a PSD (Photoshop) image in Designer 2 go away? Ummmm, update.. I can't open a photoshop file in Affinity Photo. It says file format not supported...
  14. It's really late, and I'm using a new installation of Publisher on a new computer... I would have sworn there was an option in the print dialog to print spreads. Not a booklet or book, but just the spread. That option isn't here. Am I crazy?
  15. I've tried searching, but think I am asking the question using the wrong words... I have a playbill which includes artist photos and biographies. I want the top of the artist's photo to appear with their bio, and aligned with the top of the text of their bio. Because it is a fluid document until it is printed, there is a lot of rearranging that happens. My question is what is the best way - or is there a way - to accomplish the layout in this photo such that I can cut and paste the photo and text, and that I can have the top of the photo align with the text of their bio? When I cut and paste, the photo doesn't get cut (or pasted).
  16. I have a producing program. Each performer has a headshot and a bio. I want the headshot to appear next to the top line of the corresponding bio. My text style has widows/orphans turned on to prevent single lines at the top or bottom of a frame. The circled photo is placed as a floating image to line up with the paragraph (see arrow). The only way I have found to make this image move is to physically shorten the text frame on the left (picture 2). I very much dislike this because if the text changes length, the frame has to be manually adjusted again to allow for it. If I make the image inline, I'm unable to add a wrap to the image (see picture 3). I would have thought that float with text did exactly that. If the text to which the image is "pinned" moves, shouldn't the image move with it and not require manual resizing of text frames?
  17. Well this certainly opened up a lot of discussion! For what it's worth, it doesn't happen on my Mac - only my Windows PC. Both are highly capable rigs, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. In fact, my PC is more pimped out than my Macbook. Odd... Exactly so. It's the reason I made the post to begin with. I'm not kicking a dead horse here, but Affinity's user interaction programming is sometimes a bit hinky IMO such that things are selected when I don't think they are, vice versa, last stroke used is remembered, etc. So when I see these lines when looking at the entire artboard, I don't trust that it's not really there. Further, I have also done designs where there are oddly shaped objects that result from intersecting two shapes for the purpose of having them 'entertwined' like in the attachment. Those shapes have also had outlines on them until I zoom in quite close.
  18. This is a nitpicky but frustrating issue in Designer 2. My page width is 2.5" and the pink rectangle is 2.5" wide. The display shows a thin white line on either side. Testing proves that this does NOT happen in Publisher, but DOES happen in Photo. In both cases, it is not until I zoom in approximately 1100% that the white lines go away. Has anyone else encountered this?
  19. Just saw your reply... Yes, they're doing annual subscriptions as well. I've been using CorelDRAW since version 1 of Windows when it came out, and later became a beta tester for it. I even won an honorable mention in the old Corel International Design Contest. I'm quite fond of the program because it's incredibly intuitive and easy to use. Having worked in hightech for over 25 years, I'm familiar with the notion of piling on with complaints about software development, but I also know that if you're competing again an "industry standard," and having to achieve market share over proven products, you really have to listen to your users. A good start would be to make tools behave the same across all Affinity products since one of their banner achievements is making them to interoperable. But again, things like nonprinting layers, muti-page spreads in publisher, easy masking, temporary tool choice, simply made keylines, etc., would go a long way toward that.
  20. Can I show hidden characters (paragraphs, line feeds, etc.) in Designer? Or is that limited to Publisher? It would certainly be nice to have.
  21. Admittedly I'm a Photoshop convert, but I'm having a devil of a time masking a headshot in Photo. No matter what I do, I end up with a white outline around the subject. I expected hair to be a challenge - it always is, but for my life I cannot get rid of this white "glow" around my subject. Any thoughts? lanny.afphoto
  22. I have a Designer 2 file that contains 5 artboards of various sizes. Also is a logo that is saved as a symbol and used on all artboards. When printing (a single artboard) it's taking about 90 seconds to send the file to the printer. No clue as to the cause, and I've set up files like this in the past. The one difference is I don't usually use symbols - could that be it? Thanks, all. LR Cabaret Poster.afdesign
