Hi MEB, I think there's a misunderstanding. I mean that I would like to be able to snap to a locked object (that isn't already a snapping candidate) without unlocking that object first, by holding down Alt+hovering over the object to force it to become a snapping candidate. Currently, when I have a non-snapping-candiate object that is locked, I have to unlock it first before the standard procedure of hovering over it with the mouse adds it to the snapping candidates list. Unless there is something that I am missing? FYI, I have everything checked in the snapping manager (I like snapping ok).

Please enable the ability to force a locked layer to become a snapping candidate. Often times I lock layers so I don't accidentally edit them, but periodically I still want to snap other objects to them.

A suggestion would be to hover over a locked layer while holding Alt (to ignore the fact that it's locked) to add that layer to the snapping candidates.

    Hi,

We have an option to let you change it for line weights, but apparently not for fonts! I'll try to get this added for you.

    Thanks,

I primarily do web design, so I work with font sizes in pixels, not points. If I try to set a text object to "64 px", it becomes "64 pt".

My current workaround is to set the document to 72dpi so that 1px = 1pt, which is fine for now, since I'm working on a mockup I won't need to export. Is there a better way to deal with this, though?

    Just a suggestion, I haven't tried myself.
Affinity application settings are stored in individual *.xml files (in Windows).

These files could be synchronized between computers using OneDrive/Dropbox/....
(they would need to be mapped to HardLink/SymLink to the file sync folder).

I often work from home and have my panels laid out differently on my studio desktop, home desktop and my MacBook Pro, so I often find myself in a muddle. Some kind of sync that remembered settings and tool layouts would be useful.

I am finding that, when ever i make a change to a text box, the next text box i create includes those changes too - i would think it much more logical for each new text box to have 'default' settings - as i often have to customise text styles in different ways on the same page.

robskinn reacted to PaoloT in IDML export
    Hi,
I think this has not been asked as of yet (at least, I can't find it when searching). Probably, most of us are interested in IDML import, since the most urgent thing is transitioning from ID to APublisher.
However, I think that the ability of exporting IDML is still very important in a professional context.
    1) Most of the professional publishing sector will be based on ID for years, and being able to transfer our files to a larger workgroup is very important to have our work accepted.
    2) Computer aided translation tools are usually compatible with IDML files (and I can confirm they can be perfectly compatibile with ID). Translating our work will probably mean that the translators will ask us an IDML file.
So, I hope to see this implemented in a near future version.

I don't want to edit my whole document in Photo. I only want to edit the selected image. Things get kind of fuzzy when I select "Edit in Photo" because this command forces my whole document to be opened in Photo.

Scenario: I select an image in Designer and select "Edit in Photo". My intention is to change the color format for the targeted image to Grayscale. Guess what happens? The whole document is converted to Grayscale! When I select "Edit in Designer", the whole document opens up in Designer as Grayscale, where as I only wanted to affect the single image.

I prefer the Adobe way: select an image in an Illustrator document and choose edit and the image (not the whole document), opens up in Photoshop. Do your edits and save. The image updates in the Illustrator document. Simplicity.

Please Affinity act on this enhancement.

When working with photos/images in Affinity Designer, (with Affinity Photo installed), there should be an easy way to launch Affinity Photo (or another chosen bitmap editor) from within Affinity Designer to edit bitmap images (beyond the photo editing capability integrated into Affinity Designer). This should be available both from the right mouse context menu and the context aware bar across the top when a bitmap image is selected.
With such excellent Affinity application interoperability I am surprised this has not yet been implemented.
This type of integration should also be incorporated into Affinity Publisher.

Another possible interface enhancement, could be to (optionally - in preferences?) replace the Affinity Designer Pixel Persona with the Affinity Photo 'Photo Persona'. If this capability were implemented, it would still be useful to include the ability to launch Affinity Photo as a bitmap editor from within Affinity Designer, as Affinity Photo provides further capability (i.e. Liquify Persona and Tone Mapping Persona). I would love the integration of the Affinity Photo 'Photo Persona' with Affinity Designer when editing bitmap images within Affinity Designer. (Considering how these applications are designed I wouldn't be shocked if such integration were technically feasible.)

robskinn reacted to badcat in Feature Request: Convert Multiple Artboards to Pages
Would like to see an option allowing the conversion of Designer files that include multiple Artboards to Publisher Pages. Currently it seems as though all Designer artboards are converted to a single giant page in Publisher.  I have built a number of 24 - 60 "page" files using Designer in hopes that Publisher would have some option to see the artboards as pages.
Bonus Request: Allow entering "Number of Pages in the New Document dialog, saving a step from going to the "Add Pages" dialog.
    thanks!

I've created a video to reply to another thread that shows this in detail. Just don't straight the edge of the pie chart as i did in the video. You can enter any value you want. I used 20º in this case.

There is actually a simple solution to this problem (it was driving me crazy for quiet some time as well until i've found this option). Simply select the group or text frame or whatever, further below the right bottom anchor point (e.g. for resizing, etc.) there is another anchor point, select this one instead and resize it to your liking, that's it :) I've also uploaded a screenshot (see attachment), because it's not that obvious. I also couldn't find any tutorial about this issue on any AD Tutorials, etc., I also couldn't find it in the AD Docs, I wished AD could mention it somewhere, that would be very helpful to everyone who is new to AD.

    Hi celionicoli,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
If you tick Create artboard box in the New Document dialog (right below the Document Units dropdown), you can drag objects to the pasteboard area.

Correct. The list text styles (Bullet 1, Number 1, etc.) will do that automatically. And you can examine them to see how that is done, for use in your own styles.

    Welcome to the forum.
You can use a combination of paragraph Left Indent and First Line Indent to get what you want but I don’t think there’s a way to make Publisher work out the numbers automatically (would be nice if it could).
If you activate the Frame Text Ruler you can drag the indents instead of entering numerical values.

It seems that there is no way to import an InDesign document. (This is the first thing I tried to do with Publisher.)
I have quite a lot of Indesign document I would like to work on with Publisher (one way import - no need to reexport to Indesign).
Is there a way in the current beta to do it ? Do you plan to have this feature before official launch ?
    Great work anyway.
