Engelbert got a reaction from vib in Clearing contents of a layer, not deleting the layer
Imo, this is a rather big and silly oversight. When using AP as a painting tool, this can be a very much used feature. I use it about a hundred times per painting.
Anyway, I have an easier workaround than the flood fill tool, because let's face it, who has the time to switch tools in mid painting flow?
It's simple: Select all layer content (ctrl+a). Now pressing delete or backspace will result in the layer being cleared, but not removed.
While painting in AP I make it a habit to always paint with the entire layer selected, so I can just press delete at any time. This prevents me from wanting to commit suicide when doing stuff like trying out brushes.
But seriously, this workaround should not be required at all.
    Good luck!

+1 for adding optional brush names to the brushes panel.
Also for still showing what brush is being used even if something like the size has been changed.

I have to agree, releases that only have fixes are still great. Nobody likes bugs and it's stupid to have to wait for major releases to stuff to be fixed, so well done Affinity!
One crit though. How hard would it be to add a link to this thread to the download page (or even the new version notification in the app)? I mean, really, come on! We all want to know what features or fixes are new and if it's an update we need to install asap or maybe one that can wait a bit. This is the only software I know of that tries to hide what's new. There really is no excuse, it is literally just one link you have to provide. Please just take five minutes to fix that, it's the easiest improvement you can make to your software suite.
But enough ranting, thanks for the update guys!

I agree this is a much needed feature. I don't like to have to scroll down just to select the categories I use 90% of the time.

Your pancake for texture idea is pure gold. Thanks for the awesome tip!

I agree, I'd like to be able to rearrange the brush categories as having their location fixed makes for tedious witching. I create my own categories, but I have a long list of categories, so that the ones I use most are stuck at the bottom, requiring me to scroll down to them. Would love to have my custom categories at the top since I use them 90% of the time.
EDIT: As an alternative, just being able to hide/unhide categories would let me maintain an uncluttered list.
