  1. Did Affinity ever come up with a solution to this? I understand the above solutions work for a simple table but I'm flipping an image shape with intricate ins and outs (it's a leaf) and want the text the right way without having to redraw the whole shape in the opposite direction! I can't seem to find a simple text direction button to alter the text without the shape?
  2. Thanks @MickRose I think that's what I'm going to have to do, it just seems a very roundabout, impractical way of getting there. I use tables in Publisher a lot (for visual charts - obviously I'd use Excel for more technical tables with formula etc.) so it would be nice if Affinity improved their table manipulations. I'd like to be able to split one cell into many without first creating the many - something might pop up later that I hadn't planned on and then it messes up the whole table and is time consuming going through and merging all the new cells created by inserting a new column, and I'd like to be able to adjust the column spacing within a selected section of a row, without it affecting the rest of the unselected column cells.
  3. Hi, I started with a table that I had to make multiple columns wide even though I mostly only needed 3 but I had one row that needed a column split into 3 (why can we not split a cell up from 1 original cell?!), and I merged all the others to create what I wanted. I then had one cell, (column and row merged from 3) that needed to be split into two so I unsplit the 1 back to 3 and then merged two together and left the one on it's own. But of course I want the two to be spread evenly across the full, 3 merged column so need to adjust the column width of that ONE CELL but can't seem to do it without affecting all the other rows down the column. See Row 2/3 Column EFG in the image below. Is this possible to do? I'm almost tempted to go to Word or Excel to do what I need but that is just so ridiculous I can't bring myself to do it!! Please help me, there must be a way?!
  4. I have no idea... my computers not great. I'm more artsy than techy, though I get by! But I was starting to panic when you started talking graphics drivers etc Just had a look at my settings and I think it's Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 if that means anything?
  5. I THINK it’s fixed now. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and so far I’ve been able to open a new document. I haven’t had a chance to test it much though, but fingers crossed! Thanks for all your responses!
  6. I really don't understand how it can be my graphics driver. I'm not overly hi-tech but everything else works fine, it's only when trying to open a new document or go to document settings and only since installing the new update...
  7. Do you mean like this: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity Designer ?? No accent characters there...
  8. I've updated to the latest Designer upon a pop up request to do so. If I click new document from the opening screen, if I close the opening screen and say file new document, or if I go to document setup in an existing document, the whole system freezes and crashes. No error code appears, it just freezes and I can't click anything. I have to open the task manager and shut it down. Please help!
  9. It also happens if I click to go to document setup... In order to create a new document, I opened an existing one, deleted the layers and then tried to go to document setup to change the size, but this has led to freeze/crashing as well. Really frustrating!!!
  10. I'm using Windows. It works fine if I open an existing file, but I can't start a new one!
  11. After doing the new update, I can't seem to open a new document with out the program freezing and crashing. Whether hitting 'new doc' on the opening screen or through File/New Doc it just stops working and I can't click on anything else. No error code or anything either. I have to force it to close. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks
  12. Sorry, I'm self taught so not too hot on terminology and often miss the most basic ideas! What do you mean by clipping the design to a rectangle? How do I do that?
  13. Thanks Alfred, That's what I'm doing now, duplicating with the handy power duplicate I found when searching for the offset thing, but what I believe the offset does that the power duplicate doesn't is split the selected in to pieces so there isn't loads of mess left hiding on the side. I also think it's more mathematically accurate somehow?
  14. Hi, I want to make a repeating pattern and saw a Photoshop tutorial ( https://binged.it/2tZ6SDb ) where they used an offset function to do this. I've tried searching for something similar in Affinity Designer but cannot seem to find an equivalent? Is there something I've missed? istring
