  1. Thanks for the reply, I think I'm going to have to create a template which is slightly larger than both paper sizes and have a fairly plain background image which I can then crop to each paper size to avoid having odd blank borders. Hopefully I will work it out so it looks OK and doesn't take me an age!
  2. Hello Apologies there is probably an easy logical way to do this but I'm still learning as I go with Affinity. I'm creating digital files (printable collage sheets etc) and would like to easily duplicate my A4 files to also fit the US paper size without having blank borders or stretched graphics. I spend a long time creating the files with lots of layers etc and don't really want to have to do this process twice over if possible. I wondered about creating a custom sized page in between both sizes and going from there but I may be thinking about this totally the wrong way. Thanks in advance for any help. Joanne
  3. Hi Ian I'm also new and looking for help with this issue. When I open an image in Affinity Designer the colour is much more saturated than the original file. Is there something I need to change to avoid this? Thanks Joanne
  4. Thank you for getting back to me, I obviously need to slow down and get used to how layers work in Affinity before trying to dive straight in! I've managed to get the 'clipped' shape now thanks to your help. Cheers Joanne
  5. Hi I've just started on the trial of Affinity and am struggling with combining 2 objects. I have 2 objects - a photo and a simple rounded corner rectangle. I want to clip the photo to the shape of the smaller rounded corner rectangle. In Serif Draw Plus I used to layer the cornered rectangle on top of the photo, select both objects then 'Intersect'. In Affinity, I've checked the help and it looks similar to Draw Plus but I just can't get it to do what I want. I end up with a transparent shape. Please can anyone help or point me to a tutorial, thanks. Joanne
  6. Thanks very much for your replies, I've had a look at a few DrippyCat videos and will look at the Udemy Affinity Solid Foundations etc courses if I go ahead with purchasing Affinity. So far the screens and tools don't look too scary and it's obvious Affinity is much more flexible and powerful than Serif, so I'm feeling reassured - cheers
  7. Hi everyone I'm thinking of moving to Affinity Designer & Photo after using Serif Draw Plus 8 and Photo Plus 8 for around 10 years (and still learning to use it!) I can see there are now workbooks and tutorials plus other resources (brushes etc) for Affinity which is great and makes it a viable and cost effective alternative to Photoshop/Illustrator. I'm wondering how similar Affinity is to Serif 8 and if it's going to be a steep learning curve for me? I am getting ready to launch digital download sales (printable paper/tags etc) and don't want to spend weeks learning new software, but I've read that .dpp and .spp files aren't compatible with Affinity so I probably need to make the switch now before I create too many files. Any advice appreciated and thanks in advance Joanne
