To be honest, that's one of the reasons why I don't buy Macs. Mojave is a mere 4 years old. Windows 10 is 7 years old, and still going, in the sense of being supported by current software. Will probably still be supported in 3 years, when it becomes 10 years old.
Especially as a development platform, this has gotta suck. A lot of professional audio software was very late to migrate to Apple Silicon. The joy of having to rewrite a lof of code, just because the hardware manufacturer decides that ARM is the future.

How is it entitled to think that something which is totally normal in most other software could be present in this software as well?
Anyway, I'm pretty tired of discussing, as, obviously, everything you say when you post about this topic is taken the wrong way, and you're an angry or annoyed troll, who is an entitled prick to users who can't discuss this topic in a proper and fair way. I said what I said, and Serif is surely aware that there are people who aren't that happy with a 60% price increase, and no upgrade options for existing users. What they do with it is their matter anyway.
I think what this really showed is the sad state of attitude on internet forums or social media in general. People calling you angry, while they're the angry ones, spreading hate and being abusive. If anything, it tells a lot about people posting here.

Thought low colour, dumbed down and quick. Often seems to be more appreciated these days than anything remotely fancy anyway.
That's me done for a while (hardly restarted posting!), other than valid complaints, suggestions, which are both fine of course, and flat out whining it's pretty dead on here these days for some reason. I'll mess around with Illustrator instead and see if things pick up next year sometime.

    I don't support any war.

It turns out that there are no Russian-speaking people outside of Russia, like in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russian-speakers in France.. Germany (GDR), Kazahstan, Moldova, Armenia.. who have been living for a long time and they speak in Russian. I understand that perhaps there are some cultural complexes.

By your actions you confirm the words of Russian propaganda that Russian-speaking people are oppressed all over the world.

Russian language in the world, just look at the numbers.

    Hi!
Tell me please if there are any plans to restore ability to buy Affinity / Serif products in Russia.
I don't understand why ordinary people are affected by sanctions – this goes just beyond my logic and my mental abilities. I can imagine that Affinity products could be used by press / mass-media in Russia for publishing but at least ability for buying the products like Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer for hobbyists and professional photographers, designers could be restored.
Also as far as I can see in European and US media the initial informational pressure dropped down, many people in Europe and US now understand better true reasons of the conflict and can make new logical conclusions and decisions themselves.
So. Maybe it's time to have a chance to try again?
    Best regards

People sell V1 with their product key, but that key only works with their email address, so it feels like you are selling something personal.
Serif didn't encourage it but it happens sometimes. The license agreement says it's not transferable

Did you already buy V1 before we launched V2 or not? If you are, then you will still find it in the store where you bought it.

Yes. That wasn't the question though. The question was why there's no reward for existing users.
Serif basically treats every existing user like a new user. I also hoped for a better upgrade price, which extends over the initial release sale period. In a few weeks time, the Affinity apps will cost 84,99 €, even for owners of the v1 apps.
20 € for an upgrade would have been cool. Let's be honest, there are not that many new features in v2.

I'm totally "chilled". It's just that we shouldn't mix everything up. A limited time discounted price is not an upgrade price.

Wrong. They did sales. They didn't drop the prices. The prices actually always went up. Originally, the Affinity apps cost 49,99 €, then 54,99 €, then 64,99 €, and now 84,99 €.
Again, though, we're straying from the topic here. The question was: "Why is there no rreward for existing customers?".

I was just wondering if I could take my ten year old "banger" back to the dealer, and expect them to give me a brand new model for free! 😄

Or just keep using v1, it won't suddenly stop working because v2 has been released!

Now we see how existing customers are thanked for patience and loyalty. Why not triple the price and offer 70%? What will the future bring? Will the shortcomings be fixed, or will there be a 3.0 version in a year to take more money?

@HelmarIf you compare the price to the industry standard, yes. The question is, should you compare it to the industry standard.
I know they do a lot of marketing in that regard. But, IMO, the Adobe apps are still ahead in pretty much everything.

For what it's worth, I expected a paid upgrade (or, rather, a new paid version) at some point, and, I think it was also communicated.
What I don't like is that they raise and raise the prices though. I got the Affinity apps for their low costs, which was a big argument. It's getting smaller and smaller.

Well... maybe we shouldn't see that as the benchmark.
The Affinity apps cost 54.99 € originally (with occasional discount prices of 24.99 €), then they bumped the price in Covid times to 64.99 €, and now they cost 84.99 €. Pretty steep... my math says that's a raise of ~57 %.
I surely won't upgrade anytime soon... as a mere hobbyist, I also have to keep my money together.
Edit: Looks like the original price at release was even lower... 49.99 €.

People keep talking about 8 years and 7 years and ignoring that the number of years is pretty much irrelevant. What matters is the number and quality of updates in that time. Which, since I've bought anything from Affinity, at least, has been few and minor. Maybe the pace and substance of updates was better in the early years?
