Hi Walt & garrettm30, My apologies, after using the slices on a multi object project the whole thing is a massive time saver.
Brought the objects in and named the layers. (key time saver) Opened the page in Designer and made the slices Exported all the objects in one swoop and the resulting files have the layer names. Thank you for your help.

I use PagePlus X9 for place settings for banquets, using datamerge. Absolutely essential for me.

Please add data-merge - and do it more userfriendly than in in INDD. Maybe supporting Excel-Sheets instead of csv. Or at least the ability to reencode the csv at the import.

Third discussion in number of replies (193 replies) in 8 month : knowing that Publisher is still in beta, it gives me hope.
It already exists on Open source project like Scribus with ScribusGenerator http://berteh.github.io/ScribusGenerator/
So please please please... Data merge is a must, without that, Affinity can't pretend that Publisher is usable for pro.
