Here are a few... these are just a few free or came-with-the-OS fonts.
There are also commercial fonts which have playing cards.
    Noto Sans Symbols 2
    Symbola
    DejaVu Sans
    Quivira
    Segoe UI Symbol (Windows)
    Apple Symbols (macOS)

I am beyond delighted at the robust cross-reference support. I've started using it already and it is marvellous.
    Thank you to the team!

I would love import of basic markdown to be possible.
While it might be nice to be able to import all kinds of fancy markdown features which are available in different markdown dialects, it would be lovely to be able to at least import basic markdown so that
Headings 1-4 map to heading paragraph styles 1-4 strong and emphasis map to character styles of that name bulleted lists and ordered lists map to respective styles

I waste so much time because even in V2 the export dialog cannot remember the pdf export settings I have chosen.
We've been complaining about the default to 'spreads' forever, and it is still here.
Remembering dialog box settings wasn't rocket science 25 years ago. I'd love to record this as a bug, but I guess it is still just a mere feature request.

Alex White got a reaction from Dan C in Cannot create a new style based on an existing style
    Hi Dan,
I went into the app to record the problem and on v2.0.3.1688 of the app I no longer see the problem happening. I can now create a new style based on an existing style from the context menu whether I have the ‘show in both panels’ turned on or not.
Thanks for your time investigating this, it appears that 2.0.3 has solved it for me. I’m happy for this thread to be closed or marked as solved or whatever.

    Cheers

I mostly got Publisher as an alternative to InDesign. Obviously, I did not expect to get all the bells and whistles at just a fraction of ID's price, but I didn't even consider the cross-reference function wouldn't be there. I mean, MS Word has it and it's just a word processor.

My use case are tabletop rulebooks, with lots of fonts, pictures, tables, and cross-references for its digital publication. Everything checks out except for the cross-references. So I'm currently doing a digital mock-up directly in MS Word that doesn't look too good, but where the hyperlinks actually work.
I'll do the print version in Affinity Publisher if I ever come around to it, but having to use a weird workaround for a basic feature defeats the point of having a specialised program.

I think they have changed the name in the drop-down menu, but it is still in the documentation.
What they are describing here is not a cross-reference.

Hi Alex, make sure you “ Show in both panels “ turned on, or it won’t show in the panel you have open. It defaults to off in sample I tried.

Yes i have laggy text box entry and also the beach ball for ages when scrolling text styles. Makes this unusable. Issue remains even with brightness option turned off.

Anyone else experiencing major slow down on the text-styles panel in Publisher?  That's the main thing I'm seeing. There are other things...but this is becoming painful.

At least I can still choose light mode on the Mac and have something which is mostly readable. The iPad publisher is dark mode only which renders it nigh unusable most of the time, which is a real shame.
    Contrast matters, folks!

You can create your own preset from the burger menu in the advanced section which would include your bleed setting. However that preset doesn't save the area being chosen to export (largely down to area can be your current selection, which doesn't make so much sense for a preset). That said I agree that your last setting in Area should be maintained, we'll take a look.

Alex White got a reaction from pbasdf in Please let export dialog remember that I want pages not spreads
Every time I go to the export to PDF dialog, it has preselected 'spreads' and I always want 'pages'.
I've lost count of the number of times i've had to go back and re-export because I forgot to change it to 'pages' _again_.
Please could the dialog at least remember the last setting that was used? That would be fine for people who always use spreads and would be such a help for those who want to export 'pages'.

Would it be considered a feature request to ask for the ability to import styles from other sources? Markdown would be exceptionally good, secondarily would be Apple Pages or Microsoft Word. This would dramatically improve my workflow (even though there are some people here for whom it evidently wouldn't)
