1. Convert your image to LAB mode.
2. Duplicate the layer, and name the lower one "L" (luminosity) and the upper one "C" (color).
3. Go to the channels studio for "L" and click on the "..." for AOpponent, and click "Clear". Do the same for BOpponent.
4. Go to the channels studio for "C" and click on the "..." for Lightness, and click "Clear" and then "Invert".
5. Change the blend mode for "C" to "Color".
6. Duplicate "L" and name the lower one "L blur", then apply a blur filter of your choice (Gaussian or median, etc.) to this layer.
7. Create a new group named "High pass" and place "L" inside it. Then, duplicate "L blur" and place it above "L" (inside the "High pass" group).
8. Go to the channels studio for the copy of "L blur" inside the "High pass" group, click the "..." for Lightness, and click "Invert". Set the blend opacity to 50% (blend mode normal).
9. Set the blend mode for the "High pass" group to linear light, and then rasterize the group if you wish.

You’ll want to show the Info panel, and put two “samplers” on your image - one on the standard color and one on the averaged blur area. Set both samplers to show RGB values (in the Info panel) and then adjust until the values are where you want them to be.

Have you tried the Colour Replacement brush tool? That allows RGB value setting for modding skin tone with brush strokes. I have also seen skin tones modified with gradient maps and masks to restrain effect to skin areas.

Take a look at this YouTube video from PIXimperfect. Although it uses Photoshop, the trchnique can be done in Affinity as well

Lance_G reacted to MEB in Support for the new Canon EOS R mirrorless and the new RF lenses?
Hi Lance_G,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
We are continuously adding support for new cameras (usual on .x updates to the app) but there's no ETA for any specific camera. Affinity Photo 1.7 which will enter in Beta soon should add a few more but I can't guarantee the new Canon EOS R will be among them. If you are using a Mac it's also possible Apple adds support for it before us (you can switch between our own and Apple's RAW engine in Affinity Photo) so hopefully it's just a question of time until we get there. Similar situation for the lenses.
