It would be interesting if we have a button on main interface for aff pub, aff des, affinity photo as sun/moon/both appearing for turn on/off themes.
    Suggestion attached.

It's clear though that in the short to medium term at least that Serif Europe won't be developing their software products for Android.
Therefore, I'd suggest that everyone shares their experiences here of the alternative Android apps that are available from the Play Store to help others (that's what l have done in the equivalent Linux thread).

Designing icons for my Nintendo switch.  BMPs are what they chose for their icon and background formats.  My workflow is 100% mobile based.  I am able to import the stock images and modify them with Affinity but have to ftp the results to my PC and use paint.exe to convert them because I can’t export natively in Affinity.  It’s really sad that this simple feature can’t be implemented when it’s abundantly clear the user base would be delighted to it.  Honestly it’s a weekend’s worth of work that has fallen on deaf ears for 7 years. Yikes!  Not a good look.

Please add Bmp format because it is used in every pixelstick for lightpainting.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Garret.
As long as they’re non-overlapping, you can select multiple shapes and Boolean ‘Add’ them to reset the rotation, and then ‘Divide’ to break them up into separate shapes. As for ‘simple’ lines, it works if they’re straight (but not otherwise, as far as I can see).

Layer > Geometry > Add works for some individual shapes but what if I have hundreds of shapes? And it never works for simple lines, what to do then?

Awesome tip. I was exporting rotated objects to SVG and importing them into a web app which added its own coordinate system so resetting the bounding box made my life much easier.

Hi, I'm using the hotkey workaround for this but it's really cumbersome, both to get used to and to continue to use. A bounding box reset – a permanent one – is pretty important. I'm coming from Adobe so there's been some re-learning for the Affinity Designer workflow but this is maybe the first instance where I feel like there's a real deficiency in the software and it's tripping me up.
I hope in future releases that a bounding box can be reset permanently, and from the right-click menu, too (not just via hotkey) . . . and along with that some real warping, meshing, bulging, etc., that one would use for vectors or (especially) grouped vectors to go with it.
    Thanks!

I would add here, that the icons of the iPad apps are much too dark. In some ligth conditions it's almoust impossible to identify them correctly.
Arggh,... as much as I am happy with the Affintiy apps, as often I think: "WTF, why?" or "Really? This feature doesn't exist?"
As you mentioned, its 7+ years now, since the launch of AD, and we are almost at the same level of evolution of the apps. The Affinty apps still feed off their original innovations: the combination of pixels and vector graphics, deeply nestable clip masks, and the use of a single file format across all three apps and no subscription. The rest is more or less stuff that all competitors also offer, often less mature in Affinty.
Luck for Serif, that Adobe isn't doing all things right as well. If Illustrator would get a subset of Tools and Pixelbrushes from Photoshop, or Photoshop would get more advanced vector tools, this would mean a big problem for Affinty.

If you find the toolbar icons too playful, switch to Monochromatic Iconography. It looks very elegant. I really like the UI in dark mode with mono icons.

Just to make sure: Are you aware that many input fields will allow you to use the mouse wheel to adjust them? (Some don't, any more, as it was causing too many problems with accidental changes.)

Snapseed reacted to pixelworker in Enable drag & up+down with mouse on all input fields to change values
You can drag left&right on the title of many input field to change the value of the field. But not all input fields have a label.
    1. I suggest to use the whole input field as a target for the drag action, like many other programs do. This will work for all inputs and is easier than using the label. I see no clash of interaction when you take the whole field as a target for the drag action.
    2. And to use up+down instead of left&right or make an option to chose your preferred way.  It's much less stress for the hand and fingers to move the mouse up/down. Small left&right drag is more stressful in comparison.
    3. Furthermore, add a fine modifier hotkey to make small adjustments more easy (key + drag). Currently Shift makes it even faster.
I almost work exclusively with this way drag up+down on input fields to change values in other programs and I really miss it when using Affinity. It's the next iteration of changing inputs in my opinion.

You can use a set of 4 adjustments (channels mixer, levels, or curves will do) and set them to show only one of the color channels, and output 0 for all others.
Channels mixer is the most versatile, as it allows to map one selected channel into all color channels or K to get a greyscale preview.
    Edit:
please find a file with those adjustment layers below. I’ve checked the effect in Photo and compared to what channels panel will show, seems identical.
Activate only one of them at a time.
The file contains a test image. Please do not use it elsewhere.

As you've mentioned Publisher: If you own Photo, you can use the Photo Persona in Publisher to get that function.
Similarly, except when you need the Export Persona, you can use Publisher's Designer Persona, and switch to the Photo Persona when you need Channels.
Thus, they're not exactly "in" Publisher & Designer, but only a click away
    Perhaps that helps?

What I can say is that I keep all my Apple Photos files referenced to the actual position in my drives. This comes from the time when I used Canon's own database app, and I've continued to prefer to get full control on the original files.
No idea of the details, but in general it seems to work fine. I think Photos makes a copy of the original file in its own format, and applies any edit to both its copy and the original.
Searching in Photos is extremely powerful. I use very much tags and smart folders, but the AI features it automatically use to scan the images content do produce results that I can use. The UI can disconcert at first, if one is looking for an exact replacement of an older-fashioned software, but it is easy to get accustomed to it.
I sometimes suspect that Photos is very much undervalued for the bad press it received when Aperture was abandoned (and then partly integrated in Photos). The same happens with Pages, that many still think to be "much worse than the old one". It's not this way, but a bad reputation is hard to remove.

I use it extensively, but because it doesn’t manage local files well (or maybe at all) to be honest after my last few judgemental decisions about this topic im going to check.

my belief is i cannot integrate a local set of files with a cloud set, but if I can that could be the best solution of all. Checking!

Thanks. I’ve now installed it. They had a 7 day trial in the App Store. They had two of their products in the App Store, both had sort of library management features. The first one. Ai had the fastest library scan I have ever seen, the second one I suspect doesn’t have a catalog or does it in batches or similar it was relatively slow. Neither of them have quite the attention on the library that I’m looking for at first glance. But I will have a second look when I get some more time.

Snapseed reacted to User_783649 in Bicubic resampling by default
It has been pointed out multiple times here by some of Affinity developers, that Bilinear method was chosen by design as a quality/performance compromise. It provides fairly acceptable image quality at a lower performance cost. As we know, Bicubic uses 16 pixels (4x4) and Bilinear uses just 4 (2x2) so it definitely allows to process and draw things faster. But the quality...
While I may accept that this might be totally okay for most people, I personally find it strange to not being able to see what exactly is going on the canvas I work with. I need more precision and having that level of precision even when "it's only for viewing in the program" — crucial for any kind of professional workflow. At least for me.
Even for downscaling, which I agree we use most of the time (because who the hell upscales images? it's a crime!), Bilinear is not the best option, be it Affinity or Adobe. Everyone can take a screenshot of this forum post or some other piece of text and place it as an image layer on their canvas.
When we downscale this layer we can see how bad everything became. Some letters loose their proportions, some became very blurry and other became too blocky and crisp. While with Bicubic everything looks way better and more uniform, obviously. Tonal gradations are smoother and whole image has fewer interpolation artifacts.
Hopefully Affinity introduces Bicubic as an option in View Quality settings. After all, it's not a battle of which algorithm is ultimately better. I should agree that in some cases some algorithms may work better than others. But having more options for canvas view quality would be beneficial.
