text style picker
postmadesign replied to meulus's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Yes, this is one of the nicest features in indesign, I use it all the time for quick text changes. Will this be implemented? -
"snap" sliders in adjustments
postmadesign replied to postmadesign's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on macOS threads
I don't know how it should work, I tried double clicking on the sliders but it will only click to this position, not reset. I tried multiple adjustments, but none works for me. -
This is not a big thing, but something that annoys me when I use adjustment layers like HSL: I would like to reset a slider to zero (0) but this is quite hard to get right with the slider. Of course I can enter the value, but it would easier if the slider would somehow snap to the original value.

I am glad to see importing excel contents in a table now works, which was a big issue for me. I still need to get used to the way tables work in Publisher, but I will get the hang of it. I do run into some redraw issues when dragging the cells of the table sometimes, making it smaller. So some things appear twice on the screen, when only one is there (I don't know if ghosting is the right term?) These mostly disappear when I scroll or zoom, but are a bit annoying. Hope you can squash this bug? table_issue.mov

Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.7.0.2)
postmadesign replied to MattP's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
This is really something: the isometric studio is really amazing: creating isometric art has never been easier!! Many other great improvements all around. I wonder about one thing though: The ipad version has a magic wand in the pixel persona, but this doesn't? Why not? -
UI Bug: tool window stays on top
postmadesign replied to postmadesign's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
Well, no, because the font picker menu disappears when I have selected the font, and gets out of the way. It is not a fixed window but a pop-up, which is why it goes on top. You will not be selecting a glyph AND changing the font at the same time. However, now I cannot properly change the font without moving the glyphs window (or any other floating window) away. -

Affinity Designer and Photo have the same "bug", I hope this can be changed -
UI Bug: tool window stays on top

Same story in illustrator. I don't see any scenario in which the current behaviour is beneficial? -
UI Bug: tool window stays on top

I just tried this in Indesign CS5.5, but your statement is false, the font list goes over the top of the floating panel, which in turn goes on top of the other panels. Check the screenshot -

Thanks Chris B! -
UI Bug: tool window stays on top
postmadesign replied to postmadesign's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
You think this is intended behaviour? This makes no sense, as the font list is only a pop-up that always goes on top of everything. This is the case in all the software I have used. -
I have the bug in publisher where I have two tool windows next to eachother, the character panel docking to the left, then for instance the glyph browser next to it. However, this causes problems when picking fonts, as the fonts dropdown menu goes behind the glyph browser window. see screenshot.

This is indeed interesting, it just had not caught my eye, yet. The ability to save specific shapes is indeed pretty useful, even if I am not sure if this is the right place, and the right UI for it. It is hard to find, and the cog does not fit the frame/button. The dropdown at the top of the menu seems to do nothing. At least it seems not quite finished in this respect...

Request: collapsible panels
postmadesign replied to postmadesign's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Well, for some setting certainly I use a lot of shortcuts as well, for instance for text resize and spacing. However panels, or parts of them, I don't use every time are not always easy to remember. I really like the approach in indesign where I can have many panels accessible with one click, and only one visible at the time. Perhaps splitting panels like character and paragraph up in a series of more specific panels might be easier to handle? -
In publisher there is a cog wheel button in the context toolbar when a picture frame is selected. When clicking this, I get a couple of options for corner settings, but these double the ones that are already there. Also the cog wheel does not fit the button well, so it looks like some UI bug, or something that needs to be removed?

Request: collapsible panels
postmadesign replied to postmadesign's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Yes, I am aware of this, and this is quite useful in itself. But my problem is there is not much visual hierarchy in the tabs, so it can be hard to find what I am looking for in these long list. See attached the screenshot where I have character & paragraph panels on top of each other: it becomes quite hard to find what I need, let alone, where the one panel begins or ends. This has to do with the low contrast as a whole (be it dark or light ui). So as it is now, i prefer to put character & paragraph tabbed together, and pick whatever on I need. I hope you can address the issue with the low contrast UI (which is a separate topic) as I think this is an area Affinity can still improve a lot. -
Request: collapsible panels
postmadesign replied to postmadesign's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
This is not so much an issue in Designer and Photo, as the panels there usually have less options and take up less space. But in Publisher, the character and paragraph panel take up almost a complete column, or I have to scroll very much, which is not great for me.
