    Hey again!
I do transit maps and diagrams for fun in my spare time.
This time I'd like to show you my interpretation of a possible future commuter rail network in the Perth area, Western Australia.
Based it on the current project information and facts that I could find on the internet. So it is certainly not definite nor official.
I have done different versions which are attached.

Enjoy it! And as usual feedback is highly appreciated!
    All the best,
    Chris

I’ve just installed Affinity Designer for the first time on my iPad Air and this is happening to me too, so it’s not just a version issue. Most of my work is font based so really need a fix for this.

    @TonyO, @transitdiagrams, everyone,
The trash and deselect buttons were re-implemented as they were in V1 (each one with its own button; single tap to deselect and delete).
These changes will be available in the next patch/update. Thanks again for your feedback.

    @transitdiagrams,
This is now fixed internally. The fix should be included in the next patch/update. Thanks for your support.

    Hi @DavidDavid,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Thanks for reporting the missing trash icon issue in portrait mode on iPad Minis. I'm passing this to dev to be looked at. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Well it seems possible since this trash icon is available for:
note tool(when note is selected) pen tool (when line is selected) fill tool (when fill is selected) Even though I would like to have it where it was, I would understand that it has to move to the current position at the top from a design point of view. But please make it also available in:
move tool (when something is selected) note tool (when something and not just a note is selected) pencil tool (when something is selected) all shape tools (when  something is selected) Good thing is that V2 did not replace V1 because the missing trash button really makes my workflow so unenjoyable that I rather use V1.
@MEB Since you mentioned the Quick Menu, please make it available in "Preferences - Pencil - Tool" because this would also be a great asset for pen users to quickly use this. When I'm holding a pen switching to gestures is possible but rather clunky.

My reply was intended to address @Scungio's issue. He wasn't seeing the Trash icon in the Node Tool.

@TonyO Regarding the Move Tool, it's quite possible this is by design since the Quick Menu is easily accessible/invoked from anywhere on the canvas with the three swipe gesture (or long press one as you prefer) - we did try to keep the interface as clean as possible but I understand for some users the old "fixed" trash icon may be preferable/more convenient for certain workflows.

I will check with Callum and devs to see if we can bring it back for V2. Thank you for your feedback.

Yeah, and before that Aldus PageMaker vs QuarkXPress, FreeHand vs Illustrator, QXP vs InDesign, etc. etc.
As we all know, in many instances Adobe "won" only by buying and thus eventually destroying the competition.

Sometimes I get the feeling that some people just want to try to find as many problems to complain about that they can. They’re not really interested in using Affinity software and discussing it in a rational way. If it’s so bad, I don’t get why they don’t just stop using it, rather than endless criticisms, and insulting anyone who disagrees with them.
I suspect the only thing that would make them happy would be to ban everyone from these forums who actually uses the software, likes it and dares to say so! Genuine, reasoned criticism is fine, but people with a different point of view should be allowed to express their views as well!

Swipe to delete works, it's not a hard gesture to get used to, but a app-wide "delete" inconsistency is starting to form.
So here's how you delete different things:
Object: 3 finger swipe menu OR swipe the up deselect button (no context icon)
Node Tool Editing Nodes: Context menu Trash Can Icon
Pen Tool Editing Nodes: Context menu Trash Can Icon
Gradient Fill Steps: Context menu Trash Can Icon
Transparency Gradient: 3 finger swipe menu OR swipe the up deselect button (no context icon)
Vector Crop (when editing with the tool): No trash in context menu / trash can in 3 finger menu deletes object inside of the crop

I suggest adopting the trash can in the top context menu bar for any tool that can select an object, node, or otherwise while using the tool. Having multiple on-screen locations for what would be otherwise the equivalent of the single "delete" key on a keyboard can get a bit confusing.

Also, the new swipe to delete function isn't documented on the popup help menu, the label should probably read "deselect / swipe up to delete".

Just my 2c. I can get used to the new action, but the option to revert in the settings menu would still be really appreciated. I'm not the only person who never, ever uses the deselect function, you can tap anywhere on the document with the select tool to deselect, adobe has trained us for years to do that on the desktop. If there's only room for one icon in that spot, an option to switch it to a static delete button would be super desirable to a large user base.

    Thanks again!

Maybe there was some information pieces before V2, but I would be happier as a customer if Serif would talk more to us before V2 release.
Obviously I'm user of all three of your V1 apps, and I still wanted to support You, I have even bought in the past, two of Your books with introduction to your software.
I understand the need of some silence for designing new features, but still it is in good manner to have a connection with users of your products.
Like someone have mentioned in other post, for many months people have wondered did Affinity is still alive.
Many users of some, not so old versions of MacOS or Windows (not only Win 7 but also some versions of Win 10) have faced now the fact that they can't use V2.
But You have been selling V1 to the last moment - and nothing have indicated that machines compatible with V1 will not be compatible with V2. Big minus for you for this move.
I understand the need of going further in software world - sometimes will come time to change architecture and OS, but it is good to know faster about it.
Changing a PC in many countries isn't so easy, because of money. But not only, there are also big technical problems with upgrades in some companies. It is often planned some time before.
Wouldn't it be better to tell people that V2 will bring some serious architectural changes?
Some people maybe would delay purchase of your software V1 and would maybe upgraded their machines in first place.
Wouldn't it be better than making dozens of returns?
And there is also "famous" problem with a new installer and broken workflows of many people, like you had no tests on this matter...
Having all this in mind, this is how it may look for some people:
Covid, and other economic situations on the global markets have made hard times for everyone, including Serif.
They have fought all this time to keep key staff and to ensure at least some level of planned further development.
Because of tough situation, there was lack of testing, lack of communication, and some decisions were made ad hoc to bring V2 as quick as possible to start gathering money as fast as possible.
Less supported OS versions - sometime it's needed, but sometimes that means that there is not enough staff and money to support more OS versions.
Honestly, I don't know what to think - I want to support your great work, and no subscription model, but It all stared to look strange and not clear any more.
I think that it is time to make stronger contact with customers.

I don't know, maybe restore road map, make a better place where users can actively take a part in features planning, because I have a feeling that many posts on this forum are just for users - some type of limbo, where users may talk just with themself.
Maybe pick some group of power users and make bigger alpha and beta programs for testing new features.
Maybe making threads with pools with important questions?
Something to get this all straight wit disappointed users.
I don't know but I think that many things have gone wrong during this V2 release.
We even don't know till when promo price will be active? Some people need to upgrade their machines first, so it would be nice to know that. It's good to treat users more serious.
We also don't know nothing about this how long V2 is planned to be the main version, and what is even the sketch of a plan for V3.
There is also no special offer for V1 users - sad a bit.
I wish all best to the Serif team, and I hope that all this will be just better.
I have also found today an interesting option for a different software upgrade:

Thanks for confirming that Chris, I've enabled the option on the M2 iPad Pro here and I'm seeing the same issue now - I'll get this logged to be investigated further, as I believe there are a few issues with 'Display Zoom' enabled currently!

    Hey Dan,
thanks for the late reply. It is more or less solved for now - Display Zoom was causing the problem. I have an iPad 5th generation with iPadOS 16.2. I turned it off and it worked perfectly. It would be nice though to have grids working with Display Zoom on too.

    Hi @transitdiagrams / Chris,
Apologies for the delayed response - I've tried this here on my M1 iPad using both Horizontal Triangular & Isometric and the gris is stationary for me as I zoom around the document.
Can you please confirm for me:
What iPad model are you using? What version of iOS is installed? Do you have any Display Zoom or Accessibility options enabled? Many thanks in advance!

Good, glad that worked. I put it out there as a suggestion to Serif; hopefully it's something that can be updated at some point. Display Zoom is important for a lot of us 🤓

@transitdiagrams do you have Display Zoom on in your iPad Settings? It messes with grids and artboards. If you do, and turn it off, the grid should stick where it's supposed to.
