transitdiagrams reacted to Alfred in Affinity needs to 2 more things to become #1
We need a Vector Eraser and we need vector cutting features: at least a Knife Tool, but preferably the ability to cut any path with any other path. We also need a Blend Tool, a Roughening/Smoothing Tool and a Perspective Tool.
Animation features are way down the priority list.

transitdiagrams got a reaction from postmadesign in Okinawa Urban Monorail
Hey,
I love making transit diagrams and maps.
This is the Okinawa Urban Monorail line in my unofficial version.
Kept it simple but informative.
Included the bus stations as well as the airport indicators.
Have fun. Constructive feedback appreciated.

Nice job Chris.
Does this match up with any real company livery? Was it done with the isometric grid?
My only critique, is the low contrast between the land and sea. The plane and bus icons are really cute, but I would prefer it if they were a different colour as the people who read these maps , are generally in a rush.
I do like a good map, they really do make a difference. OS maps should really be global in my view.
Do you know of these lads on YouTube? They do videos on maps and trains. Enjoy!
Jay Foreman and Mark Cooper-Jones are MAP MEN! Two men with a passion for geography have joined forces to make a YouTube series all about the world's weirdest and funniest maps. JAY FOREMAN - @jayforeman MARK COOPER-JONES - @markcooperjones
Geoff Marshall, has quite a few feats up his sleeve when it comes to travelling by train and tube. He even made a map of the Underground using people!
Hope you find these channels interesting.

Another really nice one! I used to live in Utrecht and it’s great to see these stations on such a beautiful diagram

transitdiagrams got a reaction from Alfred in Utrecht / light rail network / sneltram
Hey! —
Quick project from yesterday: the light rail aka sneltram system of Utrecht. Kept it simple but wiggly as usual. The retro vibes are obvious.
Did it because I was bored. Have fun. Constructive feedback is appreciated.

transitdiagrams reacted to lastfuture in Handling multi-page TIFF files (TIFFs with sub-files)
Hi there,
from time to time I encounter TIFF files that contain multiple "pages". E.g. our HP scan software produces multi-page TIFF files when scanning multiple pages, instead of saving each page into a separate file. Reading about this online this seems to be known either as "multipage TIFF" or "TIFF sub-files".
Apple Preview handles those files as expected similar to multi-page PDFs displaying all images in the sidebar. To open the multiple pages in Affinity Designer or Photo, the only way right now seems to re-save the TIFF into single files using Preview, via drag-and-drop out of the sidebar into Finder. I'd love if opening those files was handled in a way similar to multi-page PDFs instead. Right now Affinity Designer and Photo both only open the first page, never even acknowledging that there is more.
Attached is such a TIFF containing two pages, right out of the afforementioned HP scan software.
Kind regards
-- Peter

transitdiagrams got a reaction from Alfred in Staten Island Rapid Transit / transit diagram / unofficial
Hey ho!
Vignelli inspired transit diagram showing the Staten Island Rapid Transit lines in 1949. The North and South branches closed in 1953.
Added ferry connections that run back then. It's anachronistic as the design is from the 1970s conceived by Vignelli for the MTA transit diagram.
My approach is abstract and geography is only partially accurate.
Have fun - constructive feedback is appreciated.

Nice, probably longer in service than most Affinity software users.
As an idea: Replace the sky ? Get a stock picture with sky how and where you need it, mask the original picture, and place it over the stock image.
Maybe a bit tricky at the left between the roofs, and along the foot bridge. But worth the effort, I think.

Nice and clean indeed! Which typeface are you using (like that lowercase ‘t’)

Hey there!
I do transit diagrams and maps for fun.
Here are two recent fantasy/proposed future metro networks which I wanted to show in nice and clean style. For both I found data and maps online but they weren't appealing.
1) Possible metro line for Brno
2) Planned metro line with alternative routing for Krakow
Feedback appreciated! Enjoy them!

Great! It’s all just hints, in the end it’s your artwork and I definitely couldn’t do this as nice as you

Hi ChrisSmere , it's all personal opinion Darker black, brighter black, use bright colors...
What I meant with reposition is to give elements a bit more 'breathing space' (especially the 'big' titles feel like they are very close to other elements)
You could try giving everything an uncomfortable amount of breathing space, and work from there.
BTW, I love seeing your diagrams every time here on the forum. Very nice project.
