  1. carl123, I think you are correct, I have just downloaded the exe version and installed it, it has definitely fixed the start menu icon problem, version 2.2.1 now opens correctly. I have looked at all my update files, which I keep and apart from two, they are all exe versions. The two msix updated were the last two I did. That's why I had two versions co-existing. Wont be doing that again. Sticking with the exe download from now on. Thanks.
  2. Larrydacula, I have the same issue as you, I have just updated all my Affinity suite to 2.2.1 but, if I click on, lets say, the Publisher icon from my start menu, version 2.1.1 opens and then informs me that there is an update to do. If Affinity updates overwrite previous versions, how come I can still run v2.1.1 after updating to v2.2.1 I have also been able to run v2.0.0 if I click on an .afpub file created in that version and not updated since. Not had that happen though for a long time. It makes no sense what you say Will, because that is clearly not the case. My installs are done on drive C:\program files and I have never installed them any where different. I am however using the msix files instead of the exe updates. Could this be the problem? Attached is a copy of two versions that currently run on my PC. This screen shot was done today 20-Oct-23, straight after updating Publisher to v2.2.1
  3. I too would like to see this feature added to Publisher. I thought v2 would see this as an addition but sadly I was wrong. I have to revert back to using PPX9 for all my interactive PDF forms because Publisher has no such feature. Listen to your users, Serif, they are the ones that have placed their faith in you and put you right up at the top when it comes to design software. Many are jumping from the Adobe ship to the Serif ship but certain limitations are preventing them and me from ditching the old and embracing the new completely.
  4. I'm using Publisher v2 and that facility is still not available. This appears to have been swept under the carpet.
  5. Yes, you are right. However, its a program fault in v2, therefore Serif need to address it ASAP.
  6. Not a very practical solution, especially if, like me, you are printing 150 page technical documents. This is an issue that needs addressing.
  7. Version 1 does this exceptionally well, however, I have been printing booklets on a finishing printer (folds and staples), this morning with version 2 and no matter what I select in the Publisher print options, flip short side or long side, the second and subsequent even pages all print upside down. I have tried printing the same document several times and it fails to print the even pages correctly. So, I went back to version 1 and using a PDF copy of the same document, loaded into Publisher (cant load version 2 .afpub documents, into v1) I tried it again with the same settings as previous and it worked correctly. I have been using the same printer driver and printer settings for ages without a problem. Today however, using the same printer settings and v2, I could not get even pages to print out correctly. I am using Windows 11 and a Konica Minolta i300C printer with a finishing module. I also tried a simple double sided print out of a two page document and again it failed to print the even page the right way round.
  8. I have experienced software freezing issues when applying Assign Drawing Scale to a measured line. It only seems to happen when the ruler measurements are in pixels, when in mm, the problem does not occur. I opened a google map image and used the map scale to draw a line and then set scaling to 5 m. It worked out at (69 px : 5 m), however, as soon as I applied the scaling, the software froze and I had to use Task Manager to end the process. I have tried different ruler measurements but can only replicate the problem if I use pixels.
  9. Thanks guys, much appreciated. I didnt see the space in the hyperlink on page 2 but the fact that you mentioned the link was to a Microsoft web page lead me to page 3 where I found the fault and corrected it. It now exports correctly. Thanks Jon. I have also downloaded the Beta version to try out as well. Thanks Patrick. I have all three apps as you know from my previous posting and they are the best suite of software I have ever used. Keep up the good work guys. Well done.
  10. I have recently updated Publisher/Designer/Photo to version 1.10 and since doing so, a. I sometimes have trouble opening Publisher, it launches, the splash screen displays then it shuts down, there is no evidence of it being open when I look in Task Manager. Last time this happened, it took 3 attempts before it would launch correctly b. I am receiving errors when trying to export a 5 page document to PDF (digital - High quality), I have noticed that it sits trying to calculate the Estimated File Size: but never report a size at all. I have tried other versions of the PDF export and a number of them fail the same as the above. I have attached the original .afpub so it can be tested. Thanks Tim. Malware Gangs.afpub
  11. v_kyr, Sure there are programs for everything but why not have scale drawing in software that replaced software that had scale drawing capabilities. DrawPlus could now arguable be called an inferior package because Serif have developed Affinity Designer, but Designer still lacks some of the basic features that were available in DrawPlus, like scale drawing and a dimension tool that displayed the length of a line when drawn from point A to point B. All magic stuff missing from Designer.
  12. Ernest, Not the response you were looking for but the text in DP8 is "blodge" as you put it because you probably have an outline switched on. Text in DP8 inherits both a fill and an outline. Switch off the outline or change the size of the outline to zero and your text will look normal.
  13. Pixel and Poly, You are welcome, glad that fixed your issue as well.
  14. This was Serif's way of thinking in the days of PagePlus. PagePlus, the forerunner to Publisher had layers you could write on, draw on do anything on and turn the printing of these layers, OFF. So you could use them as guides for allsorts of things. I used to set up master pages with left and right written on them in a very pale grey so when using single page documents to create a booklet or something, I would know which master went where and the layer with the writing on it was set NOT to print. The rest of the master page was printable. This should be brought back and made available in Publisher in a future update.
  15. I had the same problem with a Deco 3, but solved it by turning off Windows Ink in Designer preferences. All worked well after that.
  16. I have been able to achieve the desired results in a round about fashion. In Photo Persona, I selected the image, then using a live filter, blurred the entire picture. I then moved the box blur and placed it above the picture in the stack. then I drew the rectangle and clipped that to the picture. In Publisher persona, I selected the box blur and under the Layer menu, I selected Arrange/Move Inside. This placed the box blur under the image but the result was no different than before, still just a blurred rectangle and most of the image hidden. I then however dragged the rectangle into the box blur and low and behold, it clipped as it should and the rest of the image became clear, leaving just the blur in the rectangle. Not as simple as in the video but the result turned out to be the same. Thanks for any assistance offered.
  17. I have tried again and no matter what I try, I cannot get the rectangle to nest inside the box blur. I have attached two screen shots, one of the videos layer stack and my layer stack after trying to clip the rectangle to the blur.
  18. Just watched the video, I presume was released last year, about the new Studiolink. LINK - https://affinityspotlight.com/article/focus-on-studiolink/ At 6 min and 20 seconds, the presenter proceeds to clip a blurred image with a square set over a text box. This leaves the entire picture unblurred and only the area under the box is blurred. I have gone through that video step by step and cannot reproduce the effect he achieves. every time I attempt to clip the image with the box, I am left with just the blurred image inside the box and the rest of the image disappears. I am using Windows 10 and Publisher 1.83.642 (latest release), Designer and Photo are also of the same release, the presenter however is using a Mac, does Publisher perform so differently on a Mac that you cannot obtain the same results on a Windows machine?
  19. Curious??? When I draw a new table on my home PC using Publisher, I get none printable symbols appearing that do not appear when I draw a table in Publisher on my Work PC. Can any one tell me what the chevrons ( >) in each cell and the section sign § in the last cell, mean? Is there a setting in preferences that turn these on and off. It seem strange that one PC produces these symbols and yet another PC doesn't. Both machines are running Win10, x64 and both have 16GB RAM. Publisher is v1.8 on both as well. Only difference is home PC is Win 10 Home Edition whereas work PC is Win 10 Pro. ????
  20. Assigning Shift+Ins to the edit\paste command, in Publisher does not work. However Ctrl+Ins does. Why cant the age old key code Shift+Ins be assigned to Paste???
  21. Just being able to write Odd and Even in large letters on a non-printable layer can assist booklet production, no end. It was a God send in PagePlus and I think the omission of this facility in Publisher is a huge failing on the designers part. Please add a non-printable layers option to the next Publisher update.
  22. Magic, Patrick, thank you. With it saying Cell, I didn't try it with columns or rows highlighted. The Table tab vertical alignment option also works on my text, so I don't know what was happening earlier today. This request can now be closed. Thanks.
