I'm a software developer of many years and one of my areas was transformation of data from one business format to another.
It has nothing to do with code sharing, it's about logical representation.
You don't share code with adobe, but you allow the import of PSD format in designer and it to your own logical structure to the best you can.
It's nonsense when you say that.

Looks like this is fixed now. I've switched languages with no extraneous words highlighted. Thanks!

ToOldForThis got a reaction from walt.farrell in Text Frame Copy/Paste Results Odd
Just for fun, I took @Seneca's post, copied the whole thing to clipboard, then pasted it on a blank page in my test document. The paste created a new text frame with lots of space between the lines--kind of expected, but everything text was in the text frame. Since my Options are set to show the overflow of a text frame, many lines of text appeared to be "outside" of the text frame. Resizing the text frame changes that. Doing a Select All (CTRL + A) in the text frame selected everyting inside and outside the frame boundaries to show that it all belonged to the same frame. Showing the overflow lets me see at a glance if I need to add another text frame to link to the first, or to make changes to the framatting of everything in the frame.

ToOldForThis got a reaction from GRH in Linked Pictures still increase afpub filesize
I checked the embedded vs linking topic in APub Help, which is quoted above. So, obviously, the original plan was to have a real link without embedding--just like all the other layout software out there. Could be it's just not implemented fully yet.

ToOldForThis got a reaction from walt.farrell in Studio Panels Will Not Dock
I tried this again this morning. I WAS able to get studio panels to dock in an existing column on either side. Although this worked fine today, for whatever reason, it was not behaving like this when I created the topic. Trust me, I tried all sorts of ways to dock those panels. I'll keep an eye on them to see if the non-docking repeats itself. Thanks, Walt, for your reply.

ToOldForThis got a reaction from Chris B in Cut and paste in Spread
APub generic Paste does what PagePlus calls a Paste in Place, which copies the pasted items to the same place on a new spread. PP's generic Paste pastes the copied objects in the centre of a spread. APub might want to generically paste to the centre of the page, and allow a Paste in Place, which can be very useful. I use Paste in Place often, but this can be a problem when pasting several objects on a page already containing several objects, when it can be difficult to see where the copied objects are.

I'm a bit disappointed that the Affinity team is creating an InDesign import, but has effectively left the PagePlus population out in the cold.

ToOldForThis got a reaction from Ken Cope in Promote from Master page
I definitely have to agree Ken Cope. In PP I have all my masters setup with text boxes where they should be. Promote From Master is absolutely essential when you're writing novels, like I do. I can't imagine having to create every text box for 300+ pages and having to go to Text Styles to set the correct style for each box, then having to type in the common text yet again--like chapter headings. Easy peasy! Besides being time consuming, It would drive me batty! With PP, I simply promote the text box, change the chapter number, and replace "Title" with the actual chapter title. Please add Promote From Master.
