PeterB. reacted to Ash in Variable Font Support (coming soon to 2.5 beta)
We are adding variable support to 2.5 but is still going through some final internal testing. This should be available in a beta update next week.

    Apps: All
    Platforms: macOS and Windows
As has been requested numerous times we have now converted the typography dialog from a pop-up dialog into a panel so you can now easily dock it / keep it available should you wish.
This is available both fro the Window menu (note: this is currently at the bottom of the panel listing, but will be changed to be a sub menu from the Text panel options next week), and also from the typography button in the context toolbar  when you have text selected.

    Hi @Callum,
I was able to create the same issue from scratch by doing the following:
Create a 150 mm x 150 mm, RGB/8 Designer Document using the Display P3 profile Add six horizontal 150 mm x 25 mm Rectangles spaced evenly Colours the rectangles as follows:
Red R255 G0 B0, Green R0 G255 B0, Blue R0 G0 B255, Yellow R255 G255 B0, Magenta R255 G0 B255, Cyan R0 G255 B255 Export the file as a JPEG with the profile embedded as Colours RGB.jpg Change the Document Setup to CMYK/8 using the PSO Coated v3 profile Export the file as a JPEG with the profile embedded as Colours CMYK.jpg Create a 300 mm x 150 mm Publisher Document using the Display P3 profile Place the Colours RGB.jpg file into the Document Change the Document Setup to CMYK/8 using the PSO Coated v3 profile Place the Colours CMYK.jpg file alongside the Colours RGB.jpg file Note how the same colours in the two files have different colour values. The only difference is that the colour conversion for the Colours CMYK.jpg file was made in Designer and the colour conversion for the Colours RGB.jpg was made in Publisher Source Designer File and Exported JPEGs attached

I tried around for ages, but couldn't for the life of me figure out what was happening.
Even according to my understanding of color management, it can only be a bug.
Let's wait and see if a team member comments.

PeterB. reacted to Hangman in Color conversion varies with the same settings
I'm racking my brains trying to figure out why this is happening, it's clearly an RGB to CMYK colour conversion issue and equally a concerning one... Hopefully, someone in the moderation team can shed some light on this and log accordingly if they consider this to be a bug, which I think we have to assume it is...
Unfortunately, this isn't an Affinity feature... I exported the file to PDF and then checked the colour values in Packzview which displays the colour value bubbles, though this would be a really nice addition to the Affinity apps along with a true colour separation view...

    Hi @PeterB.,
Not at all, I see your issue now and I'm unsure at the moment why there is a difference...

Apologies for the delayed response here - unfortunately I'm not personally aware of any workarounds for this issue, as no specific settings for Synology seem to change this behaviour in Affinity.
I have however 'bumped' this issue with our development team to bring it to their attention once again for you. I hope this helps!

If it's useful, I've also experienced disappearing graphics (PDFs, SVG, etc), noted here:
The files are all hosted locally on my machine (though some have sat in a synced OneDrive folder), and affects both linked and embedded graphics. I've not been able to determine any pattern as to what causes some graphics to disappear and others to work fine.

    Hi @PeterB.,
I can confirm this is logged with our development team as a request for a future update, I'll be sure to add your 'vote' to this internally now.

    Hi,
A little thing sometimes drives me crazy. Is there any way to specify in the PDF export dialog that "All Pages" is always selected first?
For me, the setting switches back to "Current Page" for reasons I don't understand. It has happened to me a few times that I only sent the current page to a customer instead of all of them. Yes, I know I should actually check it every time, but I find that a little inconvenient.
This setting may make sense, but I think that for (my) normal layout work, "All Pages" would make more sense as the default because I use it more often.

    Hi PeterB,

I've been able to reproduce this using 2.4.0.2279 and can confirm that since then a change has been reverted that caused PDF Transparency issues on export, and can confirm that with this reverted change in, your PDF exports correctly, so this should be ok in the next build.

    Thanks for letting us know!

    Hi @NathanC,
please excuse the late reply. This is an existing document from previous years that is continually being updated with new content.
If I re-place or replace the shortcut then it seems to solve the problem. Nonetheless, I have dropped an excerpt of the document in your dropbox in case you would like to investigate further.

PeterB. reacted to NathanC in Publisher: Pinned objects in a text box on the master page randomly disappear
    Hey @PeterB.,
This is a known issue with pinned/inline objects from a master page currently logged with the developers, the initial application of the master page to a spread (e.g using 'default master' on a new document) will correctly show the pinned object on the page from the master, but any subsequent application of the master or clearing and then re-applying a master page will fail to apply add master page pinned object on that page/spread, which will likely explain why it's missing on a few random page ranges in your doc if they had a master re-applied.
I've bumped the existing issue with your report.

In Photo, simply use the channels panel to fill the mask.
Copying adjustment layers with edited masks is always a bit risky (getting unwanted effects in the destination document). The best way is duplicate the mask in source document, then clear the mask there in a multi-step approach:
activate move tool use transform panel to reset rotation, skew etc to zero reset dpi to 100% use channel panel to fill mask (with white). if you don’t reset the mask, it can lead to complex issues in the new document, e.g. different dimensions (getting black mask edges), and rotation or skew can really cause a bad day.
Another way to get the adjustment without the mask is to create a preset, and the either export/import the preset, or create a new adjustment from the preset.
