SteveP110 got a reaction from iaing in Export "Current Page" (...)
Just a comment on the side of this. I have read alot of feedback that mentions finding out what page/spread you are on by looking at what number is displayed in the lower left corner .
Due to the high amount of comments like this form the beginning, would it be possible to make the active page/spread much clearer, say a better colour than the light grey border at the moment and / or moving the page number to a more dominant position

SteveP110 got a reaction from vonBusing in Margins in pages and Masters
I am still very confused with margins in Masters I have just created a 3 Masters with three different margins and the document was set up with a 4th Maging setup. But the Margins on the master don't do anything. So A they should be applied when a master is applied or B you should not be ableto set a Margin on Master Slides.
Margins on Masters do not have a linked option.
I personally would prefer Masters to define Margins after the document is setup. I have pages that could have content only on the left or the top allowing for client notes and Margins are a quick way of defining content area
But thank you for doing something about the blue border on pages and masters

Is there a simple way of setting up a Grid based design with equal sized rows and columns with a gutter in between. As an example a 6C 4R with 5mm gutter between columns. I can see how to set the guides for columns and rows by calculating the % width but not the gutter. Also can this be done to take into account the margin, currently it appears to only work from paper edge.

I was also wondering why a default master page was not created with a new document. Because this gives you a place where the main documnet settings styles etc can be found. Plus a duplicate could be made and modified or a "based on" could be set for additional master pages the same as with styles.
I also agree that master pages should be able to change margins.

That is exactly my problem with this system, in this situation the grey is not visible. And why would I want a Master and Page selected. I can also hve pge 20 grey and on screen but thumbnail not visible because I also have page 1 and Master blue. With this system I dont know if I am coming, going or have been.
Could somthing be added that really hits you in the face to say I am working on a master page, ie bold the master page section title or page section title, or change the background of that section a little, ie move the hue or luminance by a few percent
Mac has the numbers as well, but it seems silly to me that you have big thumbnails blue borders grey borders and tou have to look at little numbers at the bottom of the screen to see what you are really doing.
This is heading to be a really big program and a good alternative to inDesign, However little things like this are the sort of design points that sell or sink a product. I want this to sell

I am still very confused about the Blue Grey or None around Page Icons. I added a Shape to a page that was blue but it appeared on the Master Page hence all pages. All I really need is to know which page I am working on nothing else.  Also sometimes when I select a page the Grid is missing in the main window then double click on another page and it comes back on the page I was previously on.

Created a new document nd this confusion still occurs

This is a discussion forum, not a critisism forum therefore the use of words like clueless is of little constructive use. Only by comparing a competing product will the designers get an idea of the prosepctive customers prefered use. Many software products do the same/similar tasks but in a different way or via a different route and consructive discussions are often the only way of finding out these routes or methods, especially in the early days of a new product. So I think the tone of some members of this forum, not just this thread are more personal rather than constructive.
Plus design is not always new and imaginative it is to learn from the old and improve.
"And, sometimes it is worth while, to remember the exorbitant price gap between these applications …" does this infer that APub will be a Cheap and inferior item, if Designer and Photo are anything to go by that is definitly not the case.

Dont get bogged down with the thumbnail example. There are many situations in DTP /design where you may have many master pages and you wish to apply them but change certain aspects of a page ie images. This is easy in inDesign when you can just release a master object and change just that one

If I setup a master page with images frames  (creating thumbnail type pages for an instruction  sheet) is there a way of adding an image to them when the master is applied to a page. I used this frequently in inDesign. Screen shot on left and text on right.
