haha.... "you don't know what you don't know."
Yes, your method works, even in CS6.   Anyway, Affinity have an example  to copy now.  Thanks!

I disagree, a galley view is essential for finding overset text, or seeing what paragraph styles/char styles or hidden characters are in the text.
I think it's vital. I use it all the time in InDesign - and I am an InDesign Community Professional on the Adobe Forums, I've used Quark for 21 years and InDesign for about 15 years.
I believe this to be an essential tool for anyone typesetting long documents.

I love what the Affinity Publisher has done with Decorations Paragraph Attribute. I didn't expect this to be in the initial beta release.
Experimenting with this a little I realised that the fill attribute is somehow coupled to the stroke attributes. If I change the position of the stroke the fill moves with it.
I would suggest to decouple the fill from the stroke so that the  stroke lines can be moved without affecting the dimensions of the fill.
If that were possible there are enormous design possibilities there.
Imagine you have a dark fill with a light stroke inside the fill or 2 horizontal lines at the top or below the text but inside the fill.
Combine the stroke attributes with the pressure attributes, the mind boggles with possibilities.

I think decorations is a terrible name for it though!

You can use Text > Text Styles > Detach and Delete All Styles to remove them from the current document, and then Save Text Styles as Default to set the current style sheet as default for new documents.

It would be better to have them link automatically, then if editing to choose to do it insitu (prompt for embed).
Or have embed/link toggle in the toolbar.
My preference would be to link automatically.

There's no way of knowing what master page is assigned to which page.
See screenshot - I have 2 separate master pages, and 2 pages, but you wouldn' know visually which one is has B-Master applied.

Creating new fields isn't going to be in 1.7. We'll probably add it about the time we add database merging (which also uses fields).

Can I give this a bump? Spanning columns with headings etc is something I use all the time in ID, but can't find it in AP. Have I missed something or have you not implemented this?

This is not a feature we currently have but is a good suggestion so I shall move it to our suggestions forum

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
The addition of a field for the total number pages (for the "of Y" bit)  is currently unimplemented, sorry. I do not see why this cannot be added, thanks for the suggestion.
