Ray C got a reaction from muelli75 in Objects to "No Print"
I don't see how to create a feature (object/layer) that is visible, but won't print.

Indeed, another omission by Affinity. Supported in Windows with PowerPoint, PaintShop Pro, and the very old Print Artist.
Us users are supposed to use tedious work-arounds.

Ray C reacted to Leigh in How do I create a Desktop Shortcut for Affinity V2 apps?
If you purchased Affinity V2 for Windows directly from the Affinity Store, you will have downloaded an MSIX package. You will notice when installing Affinity V2 you will not be offered the ability to create a Desktop shortcut. This is expected and is down to how MSIX packages work.
However, you can manually create a desktop shortcut after installation. Go to Start > Run and enter Shell:AppsFolder and press OK - This will take you to a folder where you can drag and drop a copy of the Affinity V2 shortcut to your desktop.

Nice.. on the Affinity forum an entire discussion about using other non-serif programs to make up for missing (basic) features.. And still nothing from Serif. They really don't care about losing users to other parties because of lacking features in their own software.. their silence is just unbelievable.

Let me speak about "back in the day"... This can be traced back decades in the desktop publishing realm.
The desktop publishing app may perhaps present the vastest array of uses, and users, of any other software; and so , should offer the most versatility.
I mostly use my desktop publisher for printing labels and envelopes or composing downloadable pdfs for a website I run for a local club.
I may never use some of the more sophisticated features aimed at the professional, but appreciate the ease of use and availability of many features.
I am accustomed to creating orientation and other printing guides while figuring out how to create and print an envelope size my printer doesn't have built into it's driver.
The question is; should the user find a way to work around the software, or should the software work for the user?
The no-print is really helpful.

Ray C reacted to redroyal in Pattern Fills
Something I've always wanted out of InDesign but isn't a feature is a nice simple way to drop in patterns, as a fill method on any shape, as when I'm laying out I really like to use a lot of them as design elements.
Is this a feature that is already planned! And if not hopefully the community agrees with me that it's a killer feature :)!

Ray C reacted to Leatim in Publisher Calendar wizard
The one thing I would like to see in Publisher is the Calendar Wizard as was in the previous page plus applications.
I design and sell calendars and use this application to accomplish this to a certain extent to set the calendar months up.
Its the one feature that would make me buy Publisher. I use it for other design but calendars are the main reason

Ray C reacted to Joachim_L in PDF opens as blank page
Just a hint: You can easily "repair" these PDF by opening and saving them with IrfanView. I just ran a test and it worked. To minimize the extra work you can make a batch to convert them all at once.
Edit: You can use IrfanView as well to convert to various formats. Never had problems with this tool.

Ray C got a reaction from walt.farrell in Print Preview
Walt. I'm on Windows 10, printing to an HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M225 PCL 6. I previously used an HP Laser Jet 5. I cannot find any print preview Function in the printer properties. The predecessor to Affinity Publisher was Serif PagePlus, I had PagePlus X9 which might have been the last iteration of that product, and it contained a full screen print preview that was as good as a proof print. Until Affinity publisher has something like that, I can't see using it.
!!! I checked my Canon color inkjet, and that DOES offer a nice preview. (This is news to me!) But my HP LaserJet does not.

If you look at the screenshot you provided above, you'll see a button labeled "Save As..." to the right of the Profile field at the top of the dialog. Once you've set it all up as you like, click that button and provide a filename on the next dialog page. When you need that layout again, click the Profile dropdown and choose the one you saved.

Eugene has done a fine job, but shouldn't Publisher have a built in function for inserting rudimentary calendars, like Page Plus does??
