  1. +1 there were already post about this. I do not know why are they not pinned.
  2. thanks, exactly that. And even if we consider that this beta has not all the tools yet, I think is important to let know the developers what is important, necessary for our workflow. If I want a cheap (free) DTP I can just download Scribus. The software has to be used as a tool and should create the least amount of hurdles. Needing workarounds to be able to print out a simple photo book shouldn't be the case. I am not voicing my concerns to discredit the software, I am writing my needs to help the developers make Publisher a superior product. As is, I can't justify the purchase. For the time I would spend on working around a lacking bleed option or footnotes I can invest in InDesign. Is simple as that.
  3. and is not much to add in publisher, all they need to implement is a fit frame to content option. One more option under properties
  4. I am sorry, but at present I fail to see how publisher is print oriented. Without proper bleed and slug implementation, I can't print a single thing. A lack of exporting options for print is another issue. No footnotes end endnotes is another thing I found necessary. along those line being limited to a 2 page spread limits this side further. This are all functions that would separate Publisher from software like Pages, which with the page layout option offers surprisingly a lot. Publisher needs to put itself on the level of indesign and quark express at least in my opinion.
  5. I would disagree, since if you have a book in one file, than any minor change can be implemented with one command book wide.
  6. This if implemented, I could see as a great selling point. I like the idea a lot! But I have to agree that there are more important issues to resolve implement, that said I would love to see this added along the line, at some update.
  7. I find the pdf exporting slow. Do others have the same issue?
  8. I don't use slider normally and I realised I haven't tried this, so it took me a while to find how to get the slider out. Only upon coming back and rereading this post I found it. Never would it occur to me that upon selecting the frame I have than select the tool itself to get that 'functionality' - slider. Very counter intuitive. Regardless of it there is still no way to fit the frame to the content. And the options that the slider offers are found elsewhere and I find it a bit redundant and cumbersome since frame tool has no preset shortcut.
  9. I am aware of that. but when you need to keep the image a certain height or width and keep the original aspect ratio this is just not cutting it. The only work around is to have the frame size approximate, as in never fitting properly to the image. You can get the result you want, but is still annoying to have the frame a couple of pixels larger on one dimension that the actual image. The thing is that this is not done in different way, the issue is that this is a missing feature. Some of us require for the frame to conform to the image, rather that the other way around.
  10. For me on Mac it doesn't seem to work properly. And in honesty, I rarely print straight from my computer it would be good to be able to export it. On Mac I can make a pdf, on win on the other hand idk. On the image you can see that the spread just doesn't fit properly on the page
  11. adding this form another bleed post: And also there seems to be no gutter bleed. I am making a photo book project and I want to use bleed. I can work around the not knowing how far the bleed goes with enlarging the picture frame by the bleed size. But if both images go in the gutter the, one is going to overflow the other. Maybe this is a problem that the spread pdf cannot be exported as single pages...

  13. Another thing. There is no visual difference between having the frame selected or the image, that would be very handy.
  14. yes, I was searching for this as well... It seems that this is the 'preview'. It would be great if such a preview would integrate in tandem with proof colour preview.
  15. Using the program I have seen some graphical artefacts. For example scrolling up en down, extends the spine line further than the page. Scrolling left right and up and down makes the picture frames dance. I can provide a video if it helps. It is a bit trippy.
  16. Bleed is a must, yes. One more thing. Can you make a lock for the bleed, so all 4 can be set simultaneously? There is a giltch, bug with the canvas clip view. see attached image.
  17. One more thing. It would be great to have a native shortcut for place image.
  18. Thanks, I really hope that this beta testing and your work produce a great product. I have been waiting for an ID alternative for quite a while. So far they have cornered the market and that is not good.
  19. I would love to have a print booklet and/or export booklet option.
  20. An option to have the frame fitted to the image and an option to resize the frame without resizing the image.
