UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers)
The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Photo > About).
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Photo for macOS) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Mac app store purchases, which update through the Mac App Store).

and relax reacted to Lee_T in How to remove Moire?
Hi FrodoNL,
There's no specific Moire tool, we have an FFT denoise tool and you can use this alongside blurring and adding noise/cloning.

A frequent issue are photos of fine detailed patterns like cloth showing a moire pattern.
Affinity does not provide a build-in „remove moire filter“, but you can remove moire by combining a few adjustments and a bandpass filter mask.
I use a Wikidepia image showing heavy artificial moire. This methods removes 2 types of moire:
color fringing variations of lightness
Step 1: add a HSL adjustment to increase lightness of dark areas
The effect can be strong, at least +50%.
If required, de-saturate to remove color fringing.
Step 2: add live bandpass mask
Set the low band to zero, and the high band to a suitable value (about 8-16).
Then, add one node.
Move the left node and right node down to zero.
move the middle node to the top, a small distance from the left edge.
If required, add another node, to widen the impacted area.
Now tune the parameters while inspecting the result to match the disk and bright areas as match as possible.
Step 3: add a mask by paintbrush or other methods to limit the moire removal effect to those areas where it is required.
I‘ve tested this method on different type of images, and it produced usable results in a few minutes, better and faster than adding blur, using FFT denoise (which is unavailable on iPad), or frequency separation.

We can’t believe it’s been five years since we launched Affinity Designer, the first in our creative suite of apps. It’s been an incredible journey and we’re amazed that Affinity has now been adopted by over two million users worldwide.
Along the way we’ve launched the first professional creative applications for iPad, picked up loads of awards including an Apple Design Award and multiple App of the Year awards, and finally realised our initial vision for Affinity - to provide one seamless workflow between creative applications - with the announcement of StudioLink in Affinity Publisher just a few months ago.
All of our success is down to the support and feedback you’ve given us, so as a thank you, we’ve slashed the prices of our content packs in half.
This 50% off sale is only on for a limited time, so make sure you head over to our store now so you don’t miss out. Sale ends Friday 4th Oct!

While you're here we have also just released updates to all our applications, details are found in links from this post

and relax reacted to gdenby in GOLD color definition
Peter_MK
Your question intrigued me. I tried to come at the question as a physics question. It appears to me that from a full spectrum of light, colors bellow 570, nanometers, blues thru greens are only slightly reflected. Between 570 and about 630, the reflectance increases almost to an average of 90%, w a rapid shift above 600. There is complete reflectance above 700, which is red.
In normal daylight, which has a strong blue component, this means pure gold reflects a slightly orange yellow. In fire light, it might appear more orange, or even red. The average color I could find from various reflectance charts seemed to be a hue of about 51 in the HSL model, and a luminance of 45, saturation 100.
But there are many other things to consider. Most gold is not pure. In manufactured objects, it is usually mixed w. other metals to make it harder, which also modifies the color. 18K gold might be part silver, or part palladium, both of which reflect differently. And the light environment changes everything. Since gold reflects almost no blue, under a blue light, would gold look like a dull grey?
Here is a story that might interest you. I went to a symposium where one of the presenters was demonstrating a method of photographing antiquities under very low light levels. He had started out making pictures in ancient Hindu temples, where the mural pigments were too fragile to be exposed to bright light. Often, the murals had gold leaf on them. He found a method to produce very long exposures in an area that was almost pitch black. He demonstrated his method using a medieval manuscript. 1st, he made the photo under dim room light that would not damage the antique document. The gold lines on the document appeared a dull yellow green, some almost brown. The other colors were much like one could see. Then, he reset his camera, closed the door to what he needed as a demonstration, and had every one leave. He stopped the process at 90 minutes, and we came back when the film was developed. The ordinary colors were a bit more saturated, but the gold was glowing as it should have been. So, what gold looks like depends an awful lot on ambient light and how the recoding device works, and how well burnished it is.

and relax reacted to Wim Daniels in Clicking text to select
Whenever I train new people at work, navigating text using the keyboard is about the first thing I tell them. It still surprises me how few of them know about this. It is so essential if you want to work efficiently. The benefit is you can use it anywhere: e-mail, word, blogs, this forum,... and hopefully soon in Publisher as well.

and relax reacted to Wim Daniels in Clicking text to select
I'm having issues with selecting text using the cursor keys. Maybe it has to do with preferences on my Mac but I don't think so. I already adapted the shortcut keys for Publisher (disabling alt + left and alt + right) and hope to work like this:
alt + right-arrow => go to end of word (add shift to select)
alt + left-arrow => go to start of word (add shift to select)
alt + up arrow => go to start of paragraph (add shift to select)
alt + down arrow => go to end of paragraph (add shift to select)
home (numeric pad) => go to start of text (add shift to select)
end (numeric pad) => go to end of text (add shift to select)
It seems Publisher allows only to select words or the entire text using the cursor keys. I didn't find any options to define shortcuts for moving or selecting text...
What is your experience?
