  1. Great, I've sent in a video as well... Affinity replies "Oh thats not a bug, it's a new feature. We'd thought we'd add a musical tone to bop to while you wait for the export" :o :D LOL
  2. Hi, I've opened a file in the Beta, and every time I go to export I get the mac chime randomly every couple of seconds. I tried to upload a video to show you but it wouldn't allow me. The beta also just crashed twice on me with the same file, which BTW is fine in the MAS version. Allan
  3. Hi Simon, you need to be in the export persona for the export options panel. If you don't see it you will need to go to View > Studio and make sure Export Options is turned on. See attached screenshots. Allan
  4. Hi Carlos, Glad you found it useful. There is another thread https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/8293-affinity-photo-how-to-elegantly-erase-unwanted-colors/ where MEB about 4 posts down suggests another method. Copying the image into the alpha channel is not something that i'm aware of, but if there is a way i'm sure it would be useful to know. Allan
  5. Have you tried FILTERS > COLOURS > ERASE WHITE PAPER Or SELECT > SELECT SAMPLED COLOUR in Photo? Again it will depend on the image and how complex it is and if the BG is pure white, I have tried both of these options on various logos and have achieved the desired effect for me.
  6. Food there is great as well always have my Jollof Rice with Plantain and Beef when i'm there :)
  7. Hi Retrograde, I tried exporting as a PDF but the files looked weird, had some strangeness going on when I uploaded to the printers so I used a Tiff.
  8. I did upload but they were to big, so went back in to edit mode...
  9. Designed in Affinity and sent of to the printers, arrived this afternoon, now off to deliver to my client. :D Always good to see the progress and end results, no doubt more work will come from this and then its back to Affinity. Allan
  10. Thanks George he is, probably based on me a little :D. Love your site BTW. Allan
  11. Hi, If you need to edit in both applications, then exporting a PSD from Affinity would be best practice, and open the PSD with illustrator rather than Photoshop. And you'll still have the original Affinity file in case something goes wrong along the way. Allan
  12. What's that you say? A new Affinity mascot . My Strawberry Monkey loves Affinity so much he's even got his own t-shirt LOL...
  13. The problem you will have is having to keep signing in and out when updates become available which isn't best practice. You'll have to go online here and speak to Apple directly. https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action Click the link and choose your subject and then either get them to call you or arrange a convenient time. Allan
  14. Just a quick update, similar to my last step. When using "select sampled colour" choose the black text instead of the yellow and increase the tolerance until you are happy with your selection then use the "refine edges" and again "new layer with mask" from the output menu. This will leave the text and a transparent background. Took less than 10 secs... Allan
  15. Hi Lojza, I just gave this a quick go. If you use the "select sampled colour" from the select menu then click and select the yellow in your logo and increase the tolerance then apply. Next "invert selection" then go back to the menu bar to the select menu and choose "refine edges" and choose new layer with mask from the output menu. Just tried this and it worked for me and like you did use the "Erase White Paper" Filter..... Allan
  16. Hi Marcus, Not sure Photoshop has a "Magic Brush" tool I know there is a Magic wand and Magic eraser tool, but neither are for for touching up photos. That would be the healing brush. Affinity Photo has a few tools available, two of which are the Healing brush and Blemish removal tool which are both great for touching up photos. Allan
  17. Hi Evtonic3, I thought i'd step in on this one to share a few thoughts. Even though I am a fan of the classroom in a book series, I feel that Affinity photo is not currently ready for such a book considering it's still in beta and subject to a lot of changes, so by the time book was ready for release it more than likely wouldn't reflect all the new changes. And Affinity Designer is still only at 1.2 and subject to changes. Adobe has a lot more tools than Affinity at the moment so even without a book getting use to the layout and tools is way more easier. Affinity have their vimeo channel with some tips and tricks on there and both I and Ronnie McBride also have some tutorials in the tutorial section on this forum, all of which we use the tools available. There is a also a great help menu which is very useful and if you type in the name of the tool it gives an in depth explanation of it's features. At some point in the future and when Photo is out of Beta, i'm sure there will be a lot more resources and guides available. Stayed tuned for more tutorials and maybe a more comprehensive guide coming your way. Allan
  18. Here is a brand new lesson for Affinity Photo. In this tutorial we look at placing text/logo in perspective using Affinity Photo. We look at using 3 examples. https://youtu.be/jv3szSbyu80 Go be creative and show us your results. Allan
