  1. One of the things I never really thought about when creating this project was animation. So, painfully and very slowly I've been redesigning the characters and here is Betty with her new look...
  2. I've recently started using a new Mac and opened up my old files and there are missing fonts is there a way of it showing me all the missing fonts besides the initial warning and offer a way to install them?
  3. Don’t just stand there Strawberry Monkey, run, RUN LIKE BETTY! I do enjoy working on stuff like this, combining illustrations with photography. Just need to find the time to work on a few more ideas.
  4. Hey Alfred, Thanks, I saw that but for some weird reason Lottie file breaks apart my SVG, looks like Lottie is the way to go and an area I need to spend more time exploring. Still need an app like AE with the Lottie plug-in, something for the near future, maybe... Also looking at SVG Gator for interactive SVG files, would eventually like to have more interactive games on the site.
  5. So, recently discovered an app call KeyShape that allows you to create CSS animation for your website. Spent a few hours messing around with it to create something for the desktop & iPad version of our website: http://mystrawberrymonkey.com. I’ve been wanting to add animation to site for ages but never really found others apps as simple as this. I've avoided After Effects for years, but to get this fully animated and interactive I may have to head in that direction. Playing around with this has got me thinking even more so about a cartoon, one day maybe...This has definitely gotten bigger than me, may have to call in some troops. Untitled.mp4
  6. It's been interesting looking back at this thread and seeing how much My Strawberry Monkey has grown with a brand new site and loads of new characters, looking back I can see the key elements are still here and how many mistakes I made along the way, it's been a great learning process though and probably rushed a few things because I was soooo excited! There were also a number of characters that I was trying hard to work for me and in the end I just wasn't happy with them, who knows, they may soon make an appearance again with a fresh new look. To see the rest of the site and new characters head over to mystrawberrymonkey.com
  7. It's been a while, but I've made a few little updates to the site. I say a few, I've probably spent hundreds of hours making tweaks and updating all of the activities on the site. It's been nice taking a little break and being able to step back and come back with fresh eyes and ideas. Head over to mystrawberrymonkey for loads of free games and activities for your own cheeky little monkeys!
  8. Hi, I've noticed a few times when exporting characters (from 1.8.4) to other apps, see the video attached. It previews fine but then when I import into an animation app it breaks the character apart. This also happens when importing the svg back in to Affinity... Just downloaded and tested the 1.9.07 beta and it still happens, I created a circle, then used the pen tool to create 3 strokes and placed them within the circle then export selection without background as svg. When opening that svg back up in Affinity the strokes are no longer within the circle. DAnni.mov Screen_Recording_2020-11-09_at_15_16_30.mov
  9. With the creation of Professor Fox this may take a new direction. He potentially could have his own spin-off, but hoping to keep him together with the the original characters. This is a challenge I never expected when I started this journey, it's growing beyond what I originally imagined. 10. Thanks @eejits! Strawberry Monkey has always loved what you're doing and the direction you're going in... A full on animation series would require an animation studio, I was on a recent webinar from Blue Zoo animation and learnt a lot, happy to share privately what I've learnt. Final Cut is a video editing software but with a few plugins you'll have a lot of fun. After Effects, Toon Boom etc is really where animation lies. However, if you're comfortable with the Affinity apps, you'll love Final Cut! I would check out Character Animator and look for tutorials on YouTube from Okay Samurai, he's also on Facebook. The app uses your webcam to control facial expressions and keys on the keyboard to control movement. This is something, you could do yourself, many are creating online series, it all depends on the direction you want to take. But, from what I've seen there are a number of animation studios open to collaboration. For you, I love the constant creation of new characters but I think you have many strong characters and I would focus on your next steps... Let's have a FaceTime call, Zoom etc when you're free Allan
  11. So, I was on a webinar recently by an animation studio and found it very useful plus the costs of a 52 week 11 minute show costs millions to make! Anyway, playing around with some more ideas using Affinity Designer and Final Cut. Eventually I’ll put something together to pitch to a studio. As much as I would love to, there’s no way I can do this all on my own. Who's joining Professor Fox in his super duper flying machine? There's space for you all @MattP @eejits Tree_Rocket.m4v
  12. The long term goal is for these cute little characters to star in their own preschool show. As this grows and develops, I'm realising I can no longer do this own my own and will need an animation studio involved. A couple of animation events are happening online over the coming months, I will be paying close attention... Untitled_Project_1.m4v
  13. •New Character Alert! Why, hello there! Look it's Phillip 'the dapper looking' fox! Introducing Phillip to Strawberry Monkey and the rest of the gang. Excited about the new direction and journey this is taking me on... Head over to mystrawberrymonkey.com to see the rest of the exciting updates and some free games and activities for your own cheeky little monkeys.
  14. 5 Years later and I'm still glad that you find this useful! 5 Years later and Affinity still ROCKS!!! Although, they may be a better way of approaching this, to be fair I don't even remember creating this post! 😯 Thank You! Allan
  15. Thanks George! Still waiting for your book to make its appearance...

There are loads of free games and activities on our website: mystrawberrymonkey.com We've also just uploaded some activities and posters for parents to download and for their kids to colour in, then they can display it in their windows to show our support for NHS workers. #ThankYouNHS
  18. Ohhh My! We’ve just launched our brand new range of cards. It's something we've been wanting to do for a while now...Check out the full range at Thortful! https://www.thortful.com/creator/MyStrawberryMonkey
  19. The long term goal is to turn the children’s picture book series in to a cartoon. Whilst I’m not an animator, that’s a road I’ll eventually head down. But for now here’s this! I think the focus might have to change and start to write a script and start putting a storyboard together. House Animation.mp4
  20. I've always been a fan of combining illustrations with photography, it adds another dimension to Strawberry Monkey and it allows me to be a little more creative! I've
  21. Ohhh My! Guess who's got themselves stuck up a tree... Thankfully our favourite firefighter Harriet came to the rescue. Harriet is my latest character, creating her has added some dynamics to My Strawberry Monkey, and has made me rethink about some of the roles the other characters play. Stay tuned!
  22. Thanks George! I'm starting to put myself out there more and telling the story behind My Strawberry Monkey, it helps to have this written down as I'm sure I'll create content from this.
  23. We're super excited about this! Check out this interview we did with Affinity about our journey with our children's picture books and preschool website over on Affinity spotlight, hopefully it will provide you with some inspiration! Affinity Spotlight - My Strawberry Monkey
