  1. My 'Likes' are done for today on the forum, so can't like your posts, but wanted to let you know; great list and fully agree! Besides all the great new features and great changes, there are also some seemingly little changes which are pretty worthwile and great IMO. Haven't worked my way through the new Photo and Publisher yet, only Designer. But I'm pretty impressed at the level of detail of these changes. Even the little details that have been changed in Designer are clearly well thought through and based on requests on this forum. You can tell they heard it all last years and took the chance to put these changes in v2 to address them. Some of which I'm very happy with, like the toolset which was contantly getting seperated from the interface when double clicking in v1 wich now conveniently stays fixed! And the redesigned export and settings panels that are much more streamlined now. Seemingly small things that really make a positive difference when using the application on a daily basis. Have to explore further but very happy with these changes!
  2. I am Dutch and all softwareinterfaces I use I always set to English. Dutch software terms many times sound weird in technology AND it's way easier to use search terms in google in English because there's way more information about everything in English out there! 😀
  3. I am surprised to see so many salty comments here on this forum complaining about a gift they got in the form of a brand new version with many great new features. With weird arguments about the incredible price and about features they wanted to have but aren't there yet. There are so many negative comments that I felt the need to write a little counter balance here: I was very happy to see today the email about the new Affinity upgrade which, when looking at the commercial page about it, has a lot of great new features a lots of people were missing in v1 and asked about and now are there! And besides that I also read about lots of great changes that really make a difference. Way the go Serif! Great launch of a full complete package clearly a lot of effort have been put into. And having all applications for all platforms together for just 120 euros is a great price! Would be nice if some people here would show a little bit more respect and understanding about what software development actually means and what things like this cost to create in real life. Maybe then there would be a little bit more understanding in how great this price - value actually is. From me: thanks Serif for all the hard work! 👍 😀
  4. What are you talking about? ALL applications together for all platforms you can buy for just 120 euros, which is 122 dollars. When you're having a business it's even cheaper when having more users, than it's only 108 euros per person for ALL apps on ALL platforms.
  5. For an upcoming animation in 3D I needed blinds for in a kids room. I made a sketch of two loving sheep on paper and vectorized them in Affinity Designer which I now use on the blinds in the 3d scene. Sleep well kids 😀
  6. I just installed that tool, but it doesn't even list the KB I had uninstalled. Shouldn't it be possible to list the KB when it was already uninstalled to hide it? BTW I do see the KB5018545 upgrade in the tool to hide tho (a cumulative update), which wasn't installed so didn't need to uninstall it before, but is on the errornous list Serif made, so I set that one on hide tho
  7. Can confirm that uninstalling KB5017262 (on Win 10) fixed a crash of Designer here too.
  8. Thanks your the quick response @N.P.M. . I've checked all KB-upgrades as described in that issue thread and only had KB5017262 installed. After uninstalling it it and restarting the pc it was working again. 😀
  9. Please see video below; when selecting a font with mouse it's all fine and hover works. But when using a keyboard shortcut (like hitting 'B' to go to a font starting with a B, than Affinity Designer immediately freezes, crashes and after a few seconds shuts down. Using windows 10. affinity-crashes-on-keyboard-use-in-font-dropdown.mp4
  10. @Phazor +1 for this Although as it seems now Affinity 2.0 will have support for scripts (I've read about Javascript and a C++ type language somewhere here by Serif), so that would (hopefully) open up possibilities to create these kind of things ourselves / by external parties! BTW for those that are using Moho and found this thread and were having issues importing SVG into Moho, like I had today, (issues in the curves in Moho after importing the SVG): At the moment unfortunately Moho 13.5.5 can't handle Relative Coordinates in SVG paths data strings. Unchecking 'Use relative coordinates' in the Affinity export settings works around this issue. I'm hoping (and asked today for a fix by Lost Marble) Lost Marble will fix this issue soon as relative coordinates in paths is part of the very core SVG standard and not every SVG around is made in Affinity. But at least we have a workaround!
  11. You have a pretty unique style. I might even recognize your style from many others now, which I think is a great thing
  12. Sorry, I don't agree. AI is not 'just another work tool'. And you seem to be perfectly aware about that too, because you didn't tell anything about it in your opening post. I agree with @N.P.M. in that regard.
  13. Thanks! If your question is if I animated this with Greensock Js library than no. I know Greensock well and did a lot with it, but the result here is video.
  14. Hi, I've created another animation from one of my recent drawings on paper. My goal with this animation was to create flames and beams from drawing/scratch and to work a little bit more with light and shadows. This time, although not painted in Affinity, I used Affinity Photo extensively to edit, process and clean lots of frames and I was very happy to find and re-discover the Batch processing and Macro record features I once used in Adobe 100 years ago in Affinity Photo! Works pretty great for cropping and editing 48 frames of each part of this animation! A real time saver. 😀 Especially next to the always great Export Persona to export all parts to Spine. BTW It's an endless loop! Hope you like it! And don't forget to turn on the sound! 🔊 Result: Original sketch/drawing on paper:
  15. This is beautiful! <-- [edit now I know it's generated by AI] I regret and feel bad that I wrote this. Because it seems to be created by some AI system and I don't consider that 'own creation' for a 'Share your work' forum. I also don't think it's fair to creators, wether beginner, intermediate or advanced, who DO put effort in creating beautiful things themselves as a creator and take art seriously. What do you mean with this? Is it generated by Artificial Intelligence?
  16. This clearly isn't personal, but my professional experience as senior in (motion) design, software development and animation for quite some professional years now and being an entrepeneur. About the contents: sorry, but we have to agree to disagree on this.
  17. Funny how you only seem to think about your own industry, which looks like it's print, and act like you're talking for every designer out there in the world. Affinity isn't only used for print. It's also heavily used for example in the video-, animation- and game industries. By many motion graphic designers, webdesigners, game graphic designers, UI/UX/interaction designers, animation artists, illustrators etc. etc. EPS might be a standard used a lot for print, but it's definitely not the only standard all over the world when it comes to software for these jobs for example and far from needed. I'm using a lot of tools for both video, internetwork, games and animations and never needed to use any EPS as output from Affinity. In many cases in my case for instance SVG became a real standard to import files in many software programs for vector work for instance. Not EPS. Just to give an example. Not saying at all that EPS isn't important, I understand it is for certain industries, but try to keep your mind open to the rest of the professional world of graphics professionals out there and please try not to speak for others. It's always pretty difficult to speak 'for all' as that's a pretty huge group. Your industry is not the only industry.
  18. I was glad to finally get rid of (Adobe and) that thing Adobe created, which was a pain. Not only full of issues but was also yet another program running (and made uninstalling individual programs a pain). This is not needed at all for Affinity. Or any software program. If the installer automatically overwrites the existing version and keeps settings (which it does) no need for anything new. Especially because there's already a mechanism to detect new versions in place, so why yet another tool? Also this is yet another software program that needs to be upgraded once in a while. So it's only pushing the same problem to a different tool and create yet another problem. And could potentially only make things more prone to errors. I also turn off all auto-checks/-updates for update features in some software programs (not all and browsers always check). And just install when there's a new version and it's time to upgrade to a stable version and no projects can suffer from it. I also turn off notifications etc. wherever possible. I don't need all that noise and don't want too many things lurking in the background. Love your design, but about realisation of such an app: thanks, but no thanks.
  19. Using macro's now to batch process images I just found out that - It seems to only work to use a macro for batch processing when it's added to the macro libarary. Even if we only want to use a macro once for a single batch. - It doesn't seem to be possible to overwrite an existing macro - When writing a macro to the library with a same name as an existing one, it's not overwriting the macro, but adds the macro with the same name to the list, so now there are two macro's with the exact same name in the library. Which obviously is confusing. - we seem to only be able to export a macro to file when we'd just recorded? not if it's already in the macro library? So it would be appreacted if we could: - Get a way to use the current macro which is currently open in the Macro panel in a batch job without us needing to add the macro to a library first to get it in the macros list of the batch job dialog. - Get a way to overwrite an existing macro, OR if using the same name as an existing macro giving us the choice to either overwrite it or let Affinity add a postfix number to the name so it's recognizable as a different, and later saved, macro - Get an 'Export macro to file' menu item in the context menu when rightclicking on an item in the macro libaray list: - Get checkboxes in front of the macro items in the macro libary and a button on top to do a remove macro's on selected items (it's taking forever to remove 50 macro's now, that we didn't want to add to the libary in the first place, but had to just to use it in the batch processor) - Could drag'n'drop our files from outside of Affinity (on Windows: Windows Explorer) into the Sources-list on the 'New Batch Job' dialog. That would be a great timesaver as we now need to browse to the same root folder every time when clicking on 'Add', while that folder is already open in a window next to affinity to drag'n'drop files from Affinity Photo 1.10.5
  20. Yeah, I asked her twice to oil the paddle holders, but she didn't
  21. Thanks for the nice words @jmwellborn! You should've seen my chicken animation (chicken in a rowboat) too... if you like this one sure you would like that one too! Didn't share it here on the Affinity forum because there's not much Affinity in that one, but that one was also quite fun (also to make) and made completely 'conventional' by drawing each frame by hand (frame-by-frame) 😀 Anyhow, I'm also pretty satisfied with this one too 😀
  22. Hi, Last weeks I've been back on drawing on paper and digital inking. And recently I started animating one frame-by-frame. This time, although not painted in Affinity, I used Affinity Photo extensively to edit, process and clean lots of frames and happily used the Export Persona to export. For these types of things there's definitely nothing easier and faster than Affinity! 😀 It's an endless loop! Hope you like it! And don't forget to turn on the sound!
