  1. Adding more. If I copy the offending stroke to its own document, it still misbehaves. I'll attach it here. Bad Stroke.afdesign
  2. To add to this. I created a second vector curve that could be expanded. I then undid the expand, copied the stroke, selected the original stroke, and did a "Paste Style" (so that ostensibly it had all the properties of the stroke that worked), and it still couldn't be expanded. Very curious.
  3. Still working on my map. I've been using the "Expand Stroke" feature to make roads of varying widths using simple vector curves. Now and again, Layer > Expand Stroke does not work. When I apply it, the curve simply disappears. The entry for the curve remains in the layer folder but the little preview shows nothing and cannot be added to existing objects. While I haven't applied a brush to the vector curve, I found on another thread that applying "Solid Pen with Pressure" sometimes helps. In this case, it does not. I can always restart the program and make other curves to apply "Expand Stroke" to, but I'd like to know why it sometimes doesn't work and whether I'm doing something wrong.
  4. I will try these. I ended up copying the layer to another document, deleting all the excess, and then pasting back the results. Will keep these solutions in mind, however!
  5. The trouble with that is the layers traverse all areas of the map. They're not limited to one region. That might create seams where the different areas meet. I have layers for different contours, water, and other features that have elements throughout. I may have to come up with a similar workaround (to what the one you suggest) if there's no other way, i.e., separate copies of the original map with different, small developed areas on each.
  6. I'm using Designer 2 and have a large multi-layered vector map. Each layer contains vital elements that I don't want to lose. All are locked to prevent accidents. What I'd like to do is extract a portion of the map and all its contents to a new file where I can upscale it and add more details. When that section is complete, I'd like to the same the same with the next section, etc. Adding details to the original map would quickly make the file too large and unwieldy. Cropping doesn't seem to work (probably requires rasterizing) and masking doesn't seem the right solution either, though I'm not very proficient with masks. Any ideas?
  7. I installed all the V2 apps and noticed that the new apps are MUCH smaller than the old ones. Designer 1 is 212mb vs Designer 2 at 105mb Photo 1 is 492mb vs Photo 2 at 168mb Publisher 1 is 1.01gb vs Publisher 2 at 114mb Is it okay to uninstall the old apps? Also, I noticed that Publisher 2 didn't import my custom dictionary from v1. Is there a way to move that over? Thanks!
  8. Probably beating a dead horse, but I would also like to see Grammarly work within Publisher.
  9. Thanks so much for your help! Though I would swear that wasn't there a minute ago! 🙂 Thanks again!
  10. Thanks for the quick response! Here's a dumbed down version of the file. troubleshooting.afpub
  11. I did search the site before asking, and there have been numerous questions and answers for similar issues. None that I found seemed to match the problem I'm having. I create a shape with many nodes, converted it to a text frame, pasted in my text, exported to PDF, and the text frame is still visible. When I select the frame/shape in the Stroke panel, it says there is no Style or Width associated with the shape. Following advice on another post, I plugged in the Text Frame Panel and see there is no Fill or Stroke either. Any ideas? It appears as a thin gray line, as if it had a hairline width.
