Use the official Serif technique 
a/ select the shape
b/ resize the shape
c/ press undo
d/ zoom in
e/ stretch the shape
f/ undo
g/ zoom in some more
h/ eureka, it moves
i/ now what? The shape has filled the whole screen so I can’t see where to move it to. Bummer 
What I do is add a larger rectangle or similar shape, select both the rectangle and the smaller object and use the rectangle as a handle.
If I was rating this app I would only give it one star due to this ridiculous design flaw and the dark grey on black interface. Which is a shame because the desktop app is definitely a four or five star app. 
Every time I need to select a Studio I have to press the question mark. I even printed a couple of labels to stick on the edge of the iPad to help me ‘see’ the icons. I did get laughed at a couple of times, which was embarrassing 

At least now I know this behavior is not by design. I hope.

Maybe, but this is obviously a major issue for many people, me included.
Rather than Serif keep avoiding the issue, would it be so hard to put a 'move lock' in the software?
Maybe an on-screen modifier of some sort 'Force Move'.
It really does detract from what is otherwise a very nice piece of software.
Don't be like Microsoft, please.
1 Deny the issue
2 Blame the user
3 Ask the user to re-install the software.
4 What issue, tell me again.
5. Repeat the above from step 1
 

I made an account on this forum specifically to look and see if there was anything about this issue. It's driving me a little bit nuts - the only way I can move an object (ANY object, or text, curves or not) is by zooming in ridiculously far or by using my finger. The Apple Pencil just keeps transforming the objects instead of moving them, no matter where I touch. I'd be overjoyed for an option to lock the transformations to the corner nodes only, at this point, or anything else that would make the transform option LESS responsive.

Phil K., a fine example of the frustration of not being able to move an object! My experience too.

I’m also having this issue, Move tool selected, but the selected object keeps transforming. I use an Apple pencil also. I tried deselecting and selecting again, but the transforming sometimes happens then too.

Well, after trial and error, I noticed I have much better success if I do not select the object first and then try to move it, but instead DEselect it and use the move tool without tapping the object first. Sometimes it will move if already selected, but results seem more consistent if the object is not selected.
Fantastic app overall!  Really enjoying learning my way around it, the combo of vector and raster is awesome! Extremely well thought out for iPad use!

This is my current #1 frustration with the app.  If anyone has a work around or simple way to prevent this I'd love to know it.  [Using Apple Pencil]

This is extremely annoying... 
I have marked with green position of my pencil taps, I tapped and dragged to move, but it keeps resizing.

Same problem here as well. Very annoying to keep having to undo a transform you didn’t want to perform after attempting to just move an object.  Given the importance of moving objects around in a design application, I would think that this would be a showstopper bug and should get highest priority to get this fixed.  Vectornator, Graphic and Procreate do not have this problem.  Please fix this.
