  1. I find the current implementation OK. However I wouldn't mind seeing only the layers of the selected artboard. Could be implemented with a filter in the layers palette that does exactly that.
  2. This one is really easy, Affinity has all the tools. You can use the file attached as a starting point, and add artboards for other social platforms at will. You can lock the file in Explorer/Finder to prevent accidental overwriting. Use the export persona to write out all sizes at once. Facebook Insta Twitter.afdesign

  4. By "it" You are referring to AP or iOS/Files app? If not an iOS limitation it could be handled by AP, thus passing the internal name to the OS, right?
  5. Hey Gabe, yes dragging from the AP home screen. Well I wasn't expecting the behaviour at all, that's why I mention it. There would be nothing wrong with using the internal name anyway, regardless if saving a copy or draggin'/droppin'.
  6. IMO on killer feature of LR is that it works and syncs across multiple devices. You can take a photo with a DSLR, import it on Your iPhone, make a quick edit in LR mobile, then later edit it on the desktop, take it to Affinity Photo for some retouching or compositing, and send it back to LR. The final version will then be available on Your phone, desktop and any other connected device. Depending on Your work it can be a very powerful combo. If You have few pictures and do heavy retouching You might be happy with Affinity Photo alone (and whatever folder structure You have for managing Your photos). Having a DAM helps when You shoot/receive many photos and want to take advantage of additional features like rating, tags, keywords, catalogues, collections and other things that help You organize and find pictures more easily.
  7. I usually give my illustrations meaningful names. When dragging and dropping them to the files app those names are ignored, instead files are renamed to the scheme "Affiity Photo Document" and a number, if more than one are present. On the other hand, saving files from the gallery keeps the name. The process of saving writes into a folder called Affinity Photo, in iCloud drive. Now drag and drop is important because I use a additional cloud storage. Unless there is a way to tell AP to use other storage providers by default I'd like it to at least keep the file names.

Und wenn nicht suche nach wood texture und nimm jene Bilder, die am aehnlichsten und am groessten sind Von dort ist es relativ einfach. 1) Zeichne die einzelnen Holzflaechen als Pfade nach, spare die Griffe aber aus 2) Lade die neue Holztextur 3) Beschneide sie mit den neu gezeichneten Pfaden 4) Als Abschluss verwende die perspektivische Verzerrung f. d. Textur, um die Perspektive des Bildes nachzuempfinden Wenn du die einzelnen Pfade hast ist es sehr einfach, weitere Varianten in unterschiedlichen Farben zu erstellen. Hoffe das hilft, LG
  9. Do not underestimate the convenience of a mouse. I've been using Designer, Photo and Photo for iPad a lot lately and wanted to know how much I can do on an iPad. Designer and Photo on a desktop are powerful for almost anything design related. Painting and Sketching is great on an iPadPro with Apple Pencil. It is actually better than on a Cintiq, because the brush controls are better visible/placed. However, regular design oriented work that involves a lot of bezier curves, shapes, layer reordering, switching, filters, curve editing and so on is much more convenient on a desktop with mouse and keyboard. Yes, it can be done on an iPad. It is just slower, You need different personas for trivial things like selection, copy and paste. TL;DR: If You are not into hand drawing You don't really NEED an iPad.
  10. The stabilizer is a pain for quick strokes like handwriting or quick sketching . But super useful for looong, smooth strokes like the back of a whale I just tried some of the stock brushes with a Cintiq 27 and agree, slow and medium speed strokes come out a little jaggy. I didn't actually notice until now, since I jumped right into custom DAUB brushes, where the effect seems less pronounced. But overall yes, this deserves to be a lot better. And also yes, Photoshop does a better job. However, when sketching and painting this isn't necessarily much of an issue, especially with messier brushes and/or faster strokes. Of course it really depends on Your style. So while I am looking forward for the brush engine to become better, I also try to go as far as possible with the current tools.
  11. You can add a transparency gradient. Also, create a blurred version of the shadow and gradually fade it out. The real fun starts when You start to push the tools already available to You.
  12. For Photos I still rely on Lightroom, now in the CC flavour. It fits my needs, as I shoot with three different cameras and can import AND edit images stright on my iPhone, iPad or workstation. All files get synced across devices and the cloud, which is really useful IMO. But then we said assets, and that includes more than just photos for me. I work with layout files as Indesign and Affinity documents, PDFs, use occasionally some old Illustrator files, more and more 3D object and scene formats, image sequences and movie files. A really good DAM would have to play nice with all of these, have tags, metadata and also translate/sync platform specific attributes. Since I don’t have that, I just use Explorer/Finder, and sometimes Bridge. Together with a somehow matured project file structure, I tend to manage and find what I need without huge efforts. I think a modern DAM should be something like Dropbox with a variety of viewing/editing plugins for the various file formats in question. I at least work across different platforms and am a huge fan of a common file structure across devices, common file formats and being able to access and edit as much as possible regardless of the end device.
  13. I am using Affinity Photo more and more for painting/illustrating and see some performance issues with very large brushes (800px +). I am on a 20 core/40 threads workstation with tons of RAM. The GPU is a bit older (Quadro K4000) and single core performance is also not stellar. I am wondering what the paint engine relies on: a fast GPU, high CPU clocks or rather more cores? And are there optimisations on the way for smoother strokes?
  14. Hey there, I have a print design measuring 118 x 170 cm. It is a document that I originally had in Indesign and recently ported to Addinity Designer. It contains an image background, a couple of small images, text and mostly vector art. Now in Indesign it took a couple of seconds to export a printable PDF in 300 DPI resolution, and the resulting file had less than 4 MB. Exporting from Affinity Designer takes 8 minutes, and the resulting file is 47 MB. My question being: has anyone had similar experiences? And addressing Affinity devs: are there plans for further optimizing PDF export? I guess there is room for improvent here
  15. Are You on a Mac? I have found Motion to be quite capable. Then there is the beast they call Fusion (Mac, PC, Linux), if You are into learning something new
  16. I agree switching tools can be improved. The best implementation I have seen so far is using user configurable marking menus, as seen in the desktop version of Sketchbook, or the finger flicks in Procreate. While I see that some might want the finger to erase, I prefer to keep drawing/erasing to the pencil only and using finger gestures for navigation and UI only.
  17. I used AP on the iPad with the Apple Keyboard attached, and there are quite some shortcuts working. E and B are for eraser and brush, CMD+C copies a marqueed selection and CMD+V pastes it as a new layer. The same works for the currently selected layer. Just play around, You might be surprised what already works via keyboard. Be aware that the same keys have different functions depending on the persona.
  18. If You have the desktop version You can reorganize Your brushes there, export them as a brushset and then import that set to the iPad version.
  19. Tab Key does not full screen, It just hides all palettes. What I am suggesting is getting rid of the title bar, so that this little extra space is available for the artwork. Just like a browser (try F11), or apps on MacOS, or Photoshop when You hit F.
  20. In the meantime, have a look at DaVinci Resolve. Or Fusion. You might never look back at Adobe's motion graphics soutions. If You are on a Mac, FinalCut Pro and Motion are highly recommended alternatives.
  21. Think maximized window, sans title bar or any window borders. MacOS has a nice, unified solution. Also many browsers, including IE, have a nice fullscreen modes. Most apps have responsive layouts by design, so Windows has to just hide window borders and the titel bar.
  22. As long as Windows doesn't offer a unified fullscreen mode I'd very much like to see Affinity implement its own. Think of fullscreen mode for webbrowsers (usually bound to shortcut F11): no titlebar, but menu and document tabs would be fine. What do You think?
