Jowday got a reaction from ikev7 in Perspective tool
I think we can agree that Designer needs a vector perspective tool.

Jowday reacted to Annfinity in Affinity Photo UNUSABLE
Affinity Photo has stolen an entire day from me. I have been wrestling with this software since 8 AM. I was supposed to turn in a draft at 10 AM, I missed that. I was supposed to whip up a few quick graphics for social media management posts at 12 AM, nothing--I'm expecting an angry call from my boss any minute now. Ever since the latest updates, all I've been getting are headaches. The screenshot attached is my current status right now. I have been waiting for the past two hours for affinity to save a document. I need that draft to submit and affinity won't let me save it, let alone export it.
As you can see, I had to snap the screen with my phone, because whenever affinity in use my computer stops responding altogether. Everything freezes, lags, crashes...all while AP takes two hours to save a book cover.
So far, I'm going to have to purchase a new stapler because I smashed mine into the wall out of frustration. And I might need to buy Rogian because I'm sure I'll wake up with a bald spot in the morning for all the hair-pulling I've been doing all day.
All that to say, Affinity Photo 1.7.whatever-version-this-is is currently useless to me right now and I would like someone to kindly instruct me on how to downgrade to the previous version. PLEASE.
In the meantime, I will head over to Canva to work try working on my social media graphics before I get fired.
Thanks.

Jowday reacted to Mithferion in Why did Serif delete the entire roadmap thread
Closing and archiving the original Topic with Roadmap in the Old feature requests section, when the new Roadmap arrived, would have been the most convenient course of action.
Best regards!

Jowday reacted to sorax in Spray Tool
I need to spray selected vector objects, ideally symbols, so I can live-edit them. Currently there is no such thing in Affinity Designer. Since it doesn't support scripting/plugins I had to create a standalone util that scatters svg object across the canvas, so I could export an object, scatter it, and re-import the result back to AD. It's not a very convenient workflow :) I'd prefer if I could do something like this natively in AD. Or it would be even better if Affinity apps supported scripting

Jowday reacted to ChristAlix in Constraints: an infinite bug story since the launch of Affinity Designer
Had once again a design task (dynamic distribution of rectangles), which I wanted to solve with " constraints" and was actually surprised that the well-known bug was still not fixed?!
Actually it's a great function and a good selling point, but it can also make the work of a designer a lot easier. But only under the condition that this function also works 100% and it definitely doesn't work and this already since the introduction of Affinity Designer. But this was one of the few reasons why I said goodbye to Adobe Illustrator
AD1.7.1.404_constraints_bug.afdesign

Jowday got a reaction from Helianthropy in Designer - Free transform tool (perspective distort)
Exactly. Especially when it is marketed as "The complete graphic design solution".

Jowday reacted to Stratos Agiani in Abstract Posters with Affinity Designer / Photo
Hello Everyone. I am Stratos from Greece and these are a couple of abstract posters I created in order to decorate our offices. So far I have created 5 and these are the first two that will go out to be printed.
Fan fact: almost half of all posters were designed on an iPad while on the go ;-)
Love Affinity software so far and we are transitioning from Adobe and Corel to Affinity, fast and surely :)
Kind Regards
Stratos Agiani

Jowday reacted to Distill7 in More meaningful labels in resize dialog
That would be nice for people who don't know what they mean.

Jowday reacted to ImageryByWarren in Need Non-Destructive Develop Persona
Hello, agree. But the image upload was solely to demonstrate that recovery of the shadow (on the left) is possible in Affinity without using the shadow recovery slider. It was not intended to represent anything else and certainly not to be a final image. The detail recovered from the shadow is in my opinion impressive.

Jowday reacted to Mandu in Hey Affinity,
That is definitely some sort of "blend" tool that is not yet available in Designer I'm afraid.

Jowday reacted to thegary in Offset path & Type warp
We seriously need a OFFSET PATH TOOL and TYPE WARPING.
Offset path tool in Illustrator is some i use almost everytime i open the software.
WE NEED This. ! The expand stroke tool needs some tweaking as well. It produces some strange results.

Jowday reacted to Multi4G in Affinity Photo: Deform Filter - How to use it / Tutorial
Learn how to use the Deform Filter in Affinity Photo. This effect, also known as the "Puppet Warp" in Photoshop, helps you make suddle changes in photos. The results look very natural and with the use of anchors you can protect other areas in your image for changing. So you can work ver regional with this and create great results.

Jowday reacted to Patrick Bandau in New to the forum
Hi,
My Name is Patrick. I am new to the forum, but I am a AD-User since 2017. The artwork posted in this forum is really amazing!
Here are some of the illustrations, I did in AD.
Have fun watching them :).

Jowday got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Formally add the “universal layer” concept; add an “Automatically move objects to and from artboards” toggle; optionally, make said toggle's disabled state the default behaviour when “Edit All Layers” toggle is also disabled
Bingo Well, not exactly. I HOPE! I am 'angry' with the decision makers. However I share @JGD's feeling that engineers made feature design decisions here and there. Fx one of the features in Designer we saw early in the beta - that has been withdrawn. Hardly a popular feature request.
Release early and often: "early and frequent releases in creating a tight feedback loop between developers and testers or users, contrary to a feature-based release strategy"

Jowday reacted to InfoCentral in GPU, disappointed
Yeah right! Lots of Windows graphics programs have GPU acceleration i.e. Photoshop/Illustrator.

Jowday reacted to Adam_D in interface icons
It's not a small request, I know, but I'd love to see the UI receive a little more love - such as more options regarding padding on toolbars. CorelDraw I recall being awesome at allowing you to refine this. But mostly I'd love to see the cartoony icons abandoned. Flatten them out and simplify them. I did a quick mockup that I would call far from ideal, but I'd happily use these over the existing icons, which just look too cute and dated for my tastes. It's not really too many icons either - I rather like most of the top-bar icons, but the basic tools like the pen, hand (I may be overly sensitive, but it particularly bugs me that its coloring is race-specific), magnifying glass, etc don't feel like they belong in modern, professional design software.

Jowday reacted to verysame in GPU, disappointed
You got it, that is what I've been told. It didn't stop there. To my arguments that I work with other software that takes advantage of the GPU power like 3D render engines, the answer was that Affinity is not a 3D software hence the advantage from the GPU power wouldn't apply. Of course, 3D render is only one of the multiple examples you can see nowadays where GPU is being employed, but at that point, it didn't make sense for me to persist. Like for other requests of mine that have been ignored. Of course, one unhappy customer doesn't make any difference.

Jowday reacted to verysame in GPU, disappointed
Other than being disappointed once again by their marketing communication skills (I had to ask here why GPU is not available on PC, very misleading though not surprising move), I remember I've been asking for GPU support and I've been told many times from the devs and from frequent users on this very forum that GPU wouldn't add much to Affinity.
Well, look at the Keynote now...
I had very good reason to stop trusting the comments on this forum, now I have confirmation.

Jowday reacted to Justin in "Shadow/Highlights" does not work properly anymore
There will be an option to use the old filter. I will seek to make improvements to the new filter in the future.
