  1. Designer also crashed when file content was invalid (not a designer file) - all fixed in beta 1.8.3.623 😊
  2. Perhaps this could be utilized in Designer: http://libnoise.sourceforge.net/index.html
  3. Perhaps this is interesting: http://libnoise.sourceforge.net/index.html
  4. hi @Sean P The problem is not the brush file itself - it is because I have tons of brushes installed already. If I install them in Designer beta where I have zero brushes installed besides the default brushes, they are installed quickly. Doing so in the release version takes forever. I suspect that brushes are installed or removed rather... clumsy... in single file archives, look below. But anyway during the process of updating these files the user should know what is going on. In my case gigabytes of data was copied and updated while Designer looked like it had crashed. I assume.
  5. I hope their market research is less introvert and more precise.
  6. Search fx youtube for inkscape text envelope inkscape text envelope distort etc. In another use case you would also like to check out inkscape text perspective
  7. I accidentally opened this file - and thought Designer had crashed. Spinner and an unusual long waiting time. There is no way to see that it is a brush file from the desktop icon (same icon for brushes and documents, not good), but fortunately I checked the file extension elsewhere and understood something could be happening under the hood. Designer didn't offer a clue other than Windows adding "Not responding" and the fan running faster for quite some time. It was duplicat brushes so when the never ending proces ended - I removed the brushes again. Had to wait even longer. Still no feedback. Some user will terminate Designer one day believing it has crashes - in the middle of the update. Doesn't sound safe. UX solution: Designer showing a dialog with "Installing brushes, removing brushes, doing some maintenance" etc. Feedback. Affinity_Airbrush.afbrushes
  8. I double clicked this file (now I remember it was created by another bug in Designer beta...), saw Designer start... then quit. It is a zero byte file. A rare scenario with zero byte files... but Designer should stay afloat of course. empty.afdesign
  9. Separate. There is no add-on support in Designer. If you need blend, mesh gradients, perspective tools, envelope distort etc... Affinity Designer does not have it or offer it via add-ons. Designer is a world of work arounds and DIY.
  10. Unfortunately, no. Requested a billion times though. A round trip via fx Inkscape (free) is necessary.
  11. Exactly. Serifs looks like icons in a creative app. This kind of icons are worse than an overcast day in november: 🥶
  12. You just triggered my IT-nostalgia, @VectorVonDoom 😊
  13. I always wondered why there are two shortcuts assigned to duplicate layer with the mouse?
  14. It is spelled "Windows" by adults. Two mouse buttons is an unbelievably unhandy, clumsy and unconventional shortcut for anything. Even more so in combi with the keyboard.
  15. @Ash Great to see you helping the unfortunate ones. It is a superb initiative. I hope others will follow with similar initiatives. No one expects your work on Affinity to continue as normal - priorities have shifted dramatically. I too work from home and it certainly is family life re-invented. Keep well, keep safe, everybody. #stayhome
  16. I use noise on certain surfaces - not much in total. Yes. I made some prints - I almost couldn't see the noise. That is why I would like other types - more visible, more organic.
  17. Hi @Sean P This was fixed in .611 and thus also in the release version. Thanks! Also for you? @Aammppaa 🙂
  18. Besides that do you also miss other types of noise than the current single one? Like film grain in DxO Filmpack? More organic grain. Especially like Ilford Pan 400 or Ilford Delta 400 film noise. Discrete levels of organic noise as textures works like a charm and makes surfaces very realistic. Especially if you could choose from a gallery of types and add variation to surfaces.
  19. I forgot (because of current events) to make an improvement request to fix exactly that. Drives me insane too. UX!
  20. I meant... pressing both mouse buttons and a key... is slow, clumsy and cumbersome. Never two buttons at the same time! Besides it causes more muscle strain pressing two buttons down.
  21. Problem solved - neutral icons, you don't see them. Back to focused creating. 🙂 👍
