I think these resources should be abandoned. For example, downbg.com, because there are many new and excellent resources. Such as clipartkey.
The Internet is constantly being updated and innovated.

Then maybe a simple gaussian blur layer effect will do:

... and there are 4 types of gradients - not just linear.
    Cheers

@gdenby So these pictures may make it harder to follow, but basically what I want is basically a smooth gradient between two colors, which in probably most of my cases would be used for shading. Basically, I want to make the darker shade as the shading and use some tool to be able to smooth the transition between colors to make it look natural.

@PixelPest So if you look in my third picture (the odd one out) wouldn't getting the gradient tool make it hard to control if I had the curve all the way around the head?

Sorry if I'm seeming stubborn, it isn't really my intention. I basically have no experience in drawing/vector drawings, so I may be missing vital information or techniques

With regards my above solution, it also makes sense to not convert a text frame in the first place, but to use a rectangle object and paste that inside the group also constrained in the same way. That way you can colour at will and apply features such as rounded corners (using the corner tool), and these will also resize in a nice way with the outer parent rather than being stretched etc. It also allows you to choose the amount of margin you want inside the outer frame by simply resizing the text frame to suit, then when you resize the outer group the text frame will maintain that gap.
In this way you are sort of constructing little text 'widgets' that can be duplicated and resized to suit - great for speech bubbles for example.

    Hi f0ff886f,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Affinity Designer is a bit more limited regarding text frames than Publisher. For Designer, create a rectangle and a text frame and group them: use the rectangle to set the background colour and stroke, and the text frame to enter the text/control text alignment. When you need to resize the text boxe and background simultaneously, select the group layer (with the Move Tool) and drag the regular bounding box handles (not the detached handle on the lower right corner) as you would do for any other shape.

I find a new free clipart site (ClipartMax) which focuses on transparent clipart images collection with png format. All png clipart pictures with transparent background are high quality, easy to use. Just to search and unlimited download for free.
This is the first time I found this clip art resource site. I tried to search some clip art data inside, I am very happy, all the clip art is transparent and high quality.
For example, i search "fish clipart" - https://www.clipartmax.com/so/fish-clipart/
For example, i search "flower clipart" - https://www.clipartmax.com/so/free-clip-art-flowers/

Note that each of their images has specific licensing terms, and many are free only for personal use.

    Hi!

I want to share with you this small set of pencils.
Some of these tools feature Angle (Tilt) variance but you need a tablet that support it.
Don't have so much inspiration today to add some samples, but will do it for sure later

This set doesn't work on iPad because required settings are not yet there.
It will work with proper textures once the matching of iOS/Desktop version has been completed.

    Hope you'll enjoy it!
    Happy sketching!

    UPDATE

Just uploaded a v1.1 with these two new pieces

    Some things to know...

This new release works with MAS versions of Affinity range, but to have proper tilt dynamic latest Beta of AP or AD is needed.
Special thanks to Andy Somerfield for custom ramps...
