  1. I guess this is more of a technical/computer question than an Affinity one, though this started while using AP. So I was prepping for a plush I'm making by editing a pattern piece. The image originally came from a PDF which I loaded into AP, made a quick edit, then double checked the sizing was the same (I assumed anyway) by choosing Zoom > Actual Size and measuring the little 1 x 1 inch square in the corner. It still measured correctly so I copied the modified pattern directly from AP. Once cut out though, it was considerably smaller than the original image in the PDF. Now I'm really confused what 'Actual Size' means across different software if they turn out different sizes in real life. Husband mentioned it must be because AP converted the PDF to something else while being edited? To clarify the document size was the same for both programs, and in general every setting seemed to match. I guess I assumed that 'Actual Size' setting meant you could basically hold an A4 paper up the screen for a perfect match on the monitor, but in fact neither AP or Adobe Acrobat Reader did that, so now I'm confused how to achieve the sizing someone like a pattern creator intended irl.
  2. Just wondering how I can change an image colour (in this case, a simple black silhouette that I want to be white) without leaving any of the old colour present? I've tried bucket filling as well as various adjustments and they all leave the very edges black? Also a side question. Is there a way of adjusting the outline effect to have sharp corners instead of rounded? Thank you
  3. Another dummy question. I'm redrawing a cloud and have the fill option ticked, but it leaves out the center?
  4. Oh, I got it I think. This is so confusing and will take some getting used to. Thanks!
  5. Thanks, I will give that a look. Masks and such are still very confusing to me. My document now resembles owens but the curve is still only adding black pixels. Owens Mine?
  6. Ok, I think I did that right, but applying the curve changes all the layers even though I have just that one highlighted? I did isolate it by selecting the outline of that one layer, but then dragging the curve down afterwards to nest the rectangle made the effect disappear. Or alternatively, I tried doing the curve on the nested pixel image but it doesn't give the same result?
  7. How do I nest the rectangle? When I drag it to the pink shape, it attaches but then I can't see either of them?
  8. Took a look. Nothing I do in the coverage map changes anything for the image strangely.
  9. Oh yeah, that worked with fresh shapes, but what about pixel layer shapes like attached? I can't get the edges to become solid for anything.
  10. Is Affinity Designer any easier for achieving solid pixels? I just swear it's so difficult to do in AP, but maybe that's because it's intended more for photos and the like.
  11. I'm just practising with AP's own shapes tool wondering how to make the edges solid. There's nothing to upload.
  12. @owenr Sort of yes. I'm just wanting to know how to make the edges of any image solid. Even using the shapes tool, the generated shape will have partially transparent edges. Your suggestion worked and filled in the edges, but also filled in the rest of the canvas with black? Unless I misunderstood the instructions.
