Thanks FD, Your first suggestion is very close to what I want to have happen. This allows for editability of the mask object which is fine. But I want to be able to resize the image, while it is inside of the mask, independently. Seems like this should be the case, but it simply isnt. I can resize the whole thing and then adjust the mask after the fact but that seems a bit convoluted. That's why I think Im missing a step. The second method you mentioned, simply doesn't work for me at all. When I rasterize to a Mask, I get a giant white mask that is utterly uneditable. I prefer the set up of the first option and would like to get that to work.

Ok, Im at my wit's end here. I cant seem to figure out the correct way to set up a simple rectangular image mask in Affinity Photo. What's really weird is, some of my layers have masks on them that behave as I want them to and new layers I create have what appear to be the same kind of masks, and they do NOT do what I need them to do. It may be that the ones that are behaving correctly, are from when I originally opened this file from a Photoshop file. The layers that are behaving are the Furniture Images layers. The layer at the top is my attempt to recreate this type of mask, and it simply wont behave the same as the Furniture ones. When I try to manipulate the mask, it remains grouped or joined with the image. I want a layer with a Mask layer on it, underneath the pixel layer. I need to have BOTH the image and the Mask be able to be manipulated independently. I dont want the image to distort when I try to modify the mask object. I CAN NOT see what the difference is between my layers that are working correctly and the ones that arent. Kind of making me nuts! Please have a look at the attached file and let me know how do I recreate whatever it was that I did in the successful version Thanks!. 2018_10.03_SquareUp_Sale_Ad_Email.afphoto

I would like to make a hyperlinked table of contents in my Publisher document so that when I generate out a PDF, the appropriate page listing or icon in the table of contents will jump to the desired page within the PDF document. Can I do this in Publisher or would I need to do this in a PDF editor after the fact? Please let me know. Thanks.

Opening InDesign Files

Sabine, Thanks for the suggestion. I tried opening my print-ready PDF I had generated from the InDesign file. Worked perfectly! Images, Fonts and Formatting all perfectly intact. Problem solved! Thanks. Heads up people. Thats how you do it. -
Opening InDesign Files

Yeah, I just did a complete identity job this weekend all on my iPad and Apple Pencil, using Affinity Designer and Photo. All from the comfort of my living room couch Worked seamlessly from start to finish. Best thing since sliced bread. Just need Publisher and then it’s adios Adobe. -

Opening InDesign Files

Ok. I guess I will try the importing of PDFs for now. But quite honestly, MEB, wrangling InDesign files will be very critical in a lot of peoples workflows. Within this profession, most designers have been using InDesign for printed layouts and designs. I have been waiting for AP to come out to complete the "trifecta" of professional design (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign). So I can say goodbye to the entire Adobe ecosystem and fully adopt Affinity. I need a bulletproof path to open and convert InDesign files. I am not alone in this. -
Opening InDesign Files

The most pressing question in my mind as I get ready to adopt Publisher is, can I import/open InDesign files into Publisher. On first attempts, I’m not seeing a way. And IDML files don’t work either. Thoughts? -
Ok. Next newbie question: Im used to selecting an object in Photoshop, invoking the Tranform function and then contextually selecting “Distort” (which is a bit of a misnomer because I’m only making a sort of free form Perspective modification) So far, I can’t find the equivalent in in Affinity Photo. I’m sure it’s there. It probably just works differently. Suggestions?

I am in the middle of doing a project that involves extensive curve shape creation. This is for the sake of an accurate mask for a pixel layer. I am accustomed to using paths in Photoshop and I am quite good at it. I have been trying to use Affinity Photos pen tool to create curves for the same purpose, I am finding it incredibly challenging to get it to work correctly. I have gotten the hang of moving node point around and adjusting. What is escaping me is the ability to join the end of one curve with the beginning of another curve. Sometimes simply doesn’t work. There must be a trick to it, that I am simply unaware of. There must be a trick to it, that I am simply unaware of. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have drawn a very complex curve shape with the pen tool to eventually serve as a mask shape. In the process of drawing it, the curve wound up on three different layers. How can I combine these three different curves into one and then turn it into a mask for my pixel layer? (In photoshop I would have copied and pasted the one path into the other, but that doesn’t seem possible in AP)
