ianrb got a reaction from Lovemonkey in finding the subject is the first part

all photos taken with a Pana Fz300 along 20 meters of an old farm fence
selection brush used the remove the background >make selection >slight smooth/feather >click on the layer mask icon so the select can be changed if need be
RHS pic was manually made in Affinity >that image was then auto mirrored in Affinity
The bottom row of pics are also making some interesting patterns like the second image [first file ]
(No crashes while doing this  )

honest comments [cc] and questions welcome

They may well be something the admins can change. The question I would have to ask, if I were one of them, is whether that should be done simply because one user would prefer them to be changed. Affecting the experiences of all users is not a step taken lightly.

Some browsers allow you to define a ‘user stylesheet’. If your browser is one of those, you can easily tailor your own experience without affecting anyone else.

Its all personal choice Ian, as long as you get what you want and feel comfortable with it, that's the main thing.

Every browser nowadays has or offers zooming here, some of them allow just for text too ...

I believe it's overall a matter of taste and physical eye sight capabilities here.

Depends what browser you use Safari has an option to never use a font size smaller than 9pt and up to 24pt on the Advanced tab

Firefox has similar under it's settings

Google the same can be done.

ianrb got a reaction from GabrielM in Panorama landscape + wrap trick
You can use the perspective/warp tools to straighten out the picture when your panorama stitch does not go to plan due to your (mine often lol) bad photograph or the program gets it a little "wrong" (often due to bad photography)   Better to use warp tools with a copy layer than a live filter that uses a lot of computer power -- that also applies to blurring .   Perspective tool can be found >filters >distort >perspective; or, on the tools pallet as marked in red. #3 Sometimes the more limited perspective tool will do, however the more powerful warp mesh tool is the better . Not sure there is any right ways to pull things into shape --- as you cannot really break anything just do what works for you -- some cropping may also be required   These tools can also pull UWA lens distortion into place ---- but will NOT work with city / building photos   Some smaller bits missing on edges can be replaced with the magical inpaint tool   Hoping that helps you in some way; if not, I'm sorry I wasted your time . As least you can read it far faster than it takes me to type it   Your input/ideas/suggests/questions welcome Taken this morning with Pana Fz300 from the backyard while waiting for something to happen -- no; will not be keeping it

I have often wondered what is "best" or "better" --- I may have added a thread with similar questions as the OP
My biggest drama is the Ap format is not viewable in Lr5, or On1 2018; however the format is viewable in Win 10.
The few small tests I have done didn't show any difference between Tiff with layers and the Ap format when reopened into Affinity; which is my main advanced editing app ATM --- forgotten what happened when saved as Psd
Tiff has been ok when layers are saved, no dramas at all; and the file format can be sent to and from Lr5.
On1 was not the Lr replacement I was hoping for -- v2019 is sounding better so maybe next year.
I may as well delete Pse12 now I'm  getting more used to the Ap way.

File types would have to be the biggest drama  in digital photography

If you run Antivirus software (AV) try adding Affinity to the exclusion section. Some AV can interfere with apps processes, whether they are meant to or not.
If you use windows try running a defrag after clearing out temp files and junk. Stop a lot of these apps that just sit there waiting for you to trigger them, they use memory resources for no good reason. Check how much HDD space you have.

ianrb got a reaction from RNKLN in high pass sharpening
this is written for Ps  but is very similar if not the same for Affinity
A note from experience  --- you don't need to know many of the editing tricks seen in their 1000s on the www. There are easy ways to sharpen and there are more complicated ways to sharpen; however most weekend happy snappers and even enthusiasts will likely never notice the difference. This applies to so  many photo editing tricks. If you are new to all this; you really only need to understand and know the editing basics. The more detail edits will work their way into your photography as you need to know  . Also; don't get bogged down by flooding your computer will presets/actions/macros . I have seen and heard of some who push buttons all day trying to find that magic edit from 1000s of presets.
The same goes for editing programs; get you one can understand and learn it well.  I find I can spend too much time trying to find "that perfect"  texture, or border that no one will notice anyway.

Now getting your camera in your hands, do your own photography, and stop reading **** like this on the www

If it's the live filter, yes. They will be power hungry. As for the size, it really depends what handoff file type you're using. If it's tiff, that would be expected.
