  1. I'm looking for a way to get a painted on wood effect that retains the texture of the wood so it looks realistic. Is there a way to do that in Affinity Photo? There are a couple ways to do it in Photoshop, including using displacement maps, but I haven't found any tuts using Affinity Photo for this effect. Thanks. Craig
  2. So it looks like this isn't a true contour tool, like what is available in other apps like Xara and others. A shame. Well, at least if I duplicate the object and set the "contour" on the bottom, I can simulate a real contour. Surprised they haven't figured out how to make a real contour tool. Xara has had one for years.
  3. Hello. I'm testing out the new contour tool in Affinity 1.9 and I can't seem to find how to change the color of the contour to make it different from the object the contour surrounds. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  4. Thanks firstdefence and h_d , but I tried those methods without success. I need these stars to show transparent through the blue rectangle. It's for a garment print file and I need the white to be transparent as the white will not print on a white shirt. anon2's answer provided the solution. Many thanks. Still don't know why the subtract doesn't work like it should though. Many thanks everyone. Craig
  5. I am using the latest Affinity Designer and I am having issues with the Boolean Subtract function. I have a blue rectangle curve at the bottom of my layer stack and fifty white star curves above it. I am trying to subtract the stars from the blue rectangle. When I do the subtract function, the white stars disappear, but show that they are still there, but now part of the blue triangle and have not been cut out. How can I cut these stars out of that blue triangle? Thanks. Craig
  6. Might be a stupid question, but I really don't know the answer so I need to ask it. When exporting a file from Affinity Designer to the EPS file format, is this a universally recognized .eps file that can be used in other programs, such as Photoshop Illustrator, among others? Thanks.
  7. I'd like to download and try out the latest beta, but I held off because I thought it would overwrite my latest full version of AD. So you're saying the betas are a separate installation and won't overwrite my current public released version? Cool. In that case, I'll download the beta and check it out. Thanks for that info. Craig
