  1. I now have Designer 2.0.2.2 and the issue of Chinese still appears when looking at the font selector box.
  2. i really do like the new interface when using Apple Pencil. But i do think the developers should bring back the delete/trash can to the lower left. It was helpful being there and was easy to reach. The three-finger down gesture is not as desireable.
  3. When I selected a font from the list of fonts they appeared in English. Once the font was chosen the title of font (in the font properties box) appeared in Chinese characters. The text that I typed on the canvas displayed as I wanted. The application functioned in English, and all the help text appeared in English. This problem persisted in both Affinity Photo 2 and Affinity Designer 2 on my iPad. I deleted Affinity Designer from my iPad and saw the problem continue in Affinity Photo. I reinstalled Affinity Designer and the problem was resolved. The purchased Brushes and Assets were automatically there as well as the custom Assets that I had created. The issue of the Chinese font name persisted in Affinity Photo. I deleted Affinity Photo and then reinstalled. Problem has been resolved. A possible related bug is that some font choices have a "?" in front of the name and appear in red. (see attachment). All of these fonts work fine in Affinity Designer 1.10.5 and Affinity Photo 1.10.5

  5. I thought people would comment on the artwork of the project and maybe the simplistic nature of the characters. I did not expect comments on the practice of using and standing near the work badge scanner.
  6. I needed to quickly put together a web based lesson at my academic institution about the importance of making sure unauthorized individuals don't access the research facilities. I wrote a script and then used Affinity Designer on iPad to draw the illustrations. I got a coworker to provide the voice-over and put the pieces together using LumaFusion video editor. I created simple abstract characters so there is no racial or ethnic attachments to the unauthorized character. I used the institution's color branding. The illustrative skills are rather simplistic, with the focus on the message. Affinity Designer on the iPad allowed me to generate the images quickly and get management approval.
  7. This image is a combination of several tools and techniques that were finalized in Affinity Photo on an iPad.
  8. One of the things i have tried doing with some of the signs is have alternative color schemes. Every few months, management rotate the signs. I have tried to reduce the use of signs so the walls don't resemble Times Square. Previous to my joining the institution, the lab facilities depended on bullet point signs with an occasional dark square photograph (typically put together in PowerPoint). I suggested using more illustrative and photo cutout style (like version 2 above) so there was not extraneous background (walls, tables, and irrelevant lab equipment) in the images that i thought could be distracting from the message.
  9. I have been learning to use Designer and Photo to create training media (both eLearning and illustrations) and your medical InfoGraphics are very inspiring.
  10. Is this drawing vector brushes or pixel brushes, Or combination. It really looks good.
  11. Fantastic drawing and creative character. That protective case for your iPad is rather intense looking.
  12. Garry and Smee, Thank you for taking the time to review in detail the illustrations. All excellent points, and i have implemented the suggestions. The background color and font color are from the institutional style guide. 2. I choose a more relaxed font to stand out from all the other signs (policy, procedure, safety, etc...) that are within the research facility where this sign will go. But, you are correct, and i changed it to a traditional Arial. 4. The buckets are used to briefly transport animals from housing to labs for procedures that result in death. It is regretful, but necessary in biological research before clinical trials. This morning i thought of the idea of including visual representations of Gel and food. Gel is always included to ensure the animals have plenty of hydration (water bottles are not practical in a bucket). The gel is placed in little paper cups (similar to what is used for condiments). If you are interested, here is a fascinating video of what the gel looks like. 9. The researchers must write their names on the tops of the buckets is a policy to ensure they don't mix up buckets when moving them at the same time other researchers are moving their buckets. When creating training i use the name Abbie Lathrop, (it is better than "John Doe") a historic within in vivo cancer research name. Check out the link in Smithsonian Magazine. Her story is really amazing.
  13. Adam, thank you for taking the time and providing your opinion. Several of my stakeholders agree with the preference for version 2.
  14. I was asked to create a sign to be used in an in vivo biology lab facility at a university. I used a combination of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer on an iPad. The result was two slightly different versions. The idea, is to catch researcher's attention. Please provide feedback as to which version is better as a sign?
  15. Photo with iPhone then edited in Affinity Photo on iPad. I created duplicate, then applied mask around the snail. on the lower layer, i added a slight blur and reduced saturation. Added my watermark between the layers and created a custom frame using droplet brush around final project.
  16. Just fooling around with triangles and texture in Affinity Designer. I then exported out layers and added some animation and audio.
  17. There is a consistent issue when using Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo with my iPad. I export images to OneDrive and the date and time is added to the file name. It also occurs when I Save files to OneDrive. I do not have the issue when i Save/Export to iCloud. It does not happen with any other application that can save to OneDrive. Its very annoying. I have not found the issue anywhere. I have tried resetting the iPad as well as deleting the Affinity apps and OneDrive. I use OneDrive for work projects and iCloud for personal projects.
  18. Thank you for continuing to provide these great tutorials. They are very inspiring and give great ideas about how to use the various tools in creative ways.
  19. Jhonatan, As always, your creations are inspiring to those of us starting out.
  20. Wow. The damselfly looked like a photo. Is that a photo of water in the image “bridge over sea”?
