ferreirex reacted to MEB in Guide lines for all artoards
Hi ferreirex,
Currently no. You can however set the guidelines for the first artboard then duplicate it as needed. It will retain the guidelines. You can also add the first one to the Assets panel then drag it from there when needed - note that empty artboards added to the Assets panel are not visible despite being there: you may want to add a text object to the artboard with the artboard dimensions or anything you may find appropriate to help you identify them/make them visible.

ferreirex reacted to Bri-Toon in Affinity Publisher
The only official information I seem to find is this on Publisher's availability in 2018. Are you sure that means in a year's time? This one is about to end, and previously, we were told it would come out around the end of 2017.

ferreirex reacted to Bri-Toon in Vector patterns | swatches
Hello everyone. I did some exploring, and unfortunately, that feature in the promotion video is not a vector pattern, so there is nothing really misleading. It is an embedded symbol. I cannot test this for myself since my beta has expired (I'm waiting to get my new computer before I make my purchase), but here is a video on how to imitate what was shown in the promotion video. As I said, it is not a vector pattern, so you do have to make several duplicates.
It looks like we've all misunderstood this, but I guess we just made assumptions since this 'looks' like a pattern.

ferreirex reacted to Zunaid in Course for Web Designers in Affinity Designer
@Brian I think it was actually about using AD. I mean the features that help with web design. I will try to find. Or you can just google affinity designer udemy. He teaches the tools required.
I am busy with work so i couldn't find it. I will try to find it and share.

Yeah in that case its a matter either
a ) pick a side project such as your personal website or a product and create it in affinity by utilizing the tools
b ) choose a website you like and recreate it in affinity by utilizing the tools.
The only way to get used with any tools is to use/explore/fail with it. Besides you are not losing anything.
So go experiment. You don't need videos to teach you how to use affinity.
Use the help, its there for a reason. Get out there and get your hands dirty.
Cheers!

What exactly you're looking for when it comes to tutorials, since the basic fundamentals applies to anything regardless which software you use. Are you looking for lets say, something specifically about the features for UI design within Affinity Designer or something else?
Because when it comes to features, its pretty much the videos that I posted above is what comes to mind.
-
But if you're looking to learn the ins and out of the tools, best to just grab some websites you like and try to re-create it within Affinity Designer, so you can familiarize with the tool.
When it comes to learning the fundamentals of Web Design, you learn better through real world examples, and copying other Designers and so on. Not plagiarism, but learning how they came up with the solution and so on.

Hey ferre,
From what I know, there is no course about building a Website within Affinity Designer. But will instead point to some videos that talks about some of the features for UI/Web Design :

ferreirex reacted to arezendes in Anthropomorphic Bison Character Illustration
Hey folks –
I created this illustration as a parody of a quasi-famous NY designer I recently saw. It was my first attempt with AD, and at using variable brush strokes / curves. I found the experience pretty straightforward, almost fun. I typically use illustrator for renderings like this but wanted to test out how AD worked since I had just purchased it recently. I think the only major challenge I had was that I didn't like that I couldn't use the eye-dropper on different colors to select the color. That part wasn't intuitive to me. After watching some youtube videos and some snippets on the site, I got the hang of it after a while.
This is one in a series of character illustrations I'll be doing. His name is Tobison Vanderherd: Senior Design Strategist (for now anyway). I'm going to be fleshing out an entire agency based on endangered species because, after all, agencies are sort of dying out. Anyway, don't know how far I'll take it, but it's certainly fun getting familiar with the tool and experimenting.
I'm eventually going to take the illustration into After Effects and try some puppeteering/ voiceover work to see how that holds up. I'll share my results if anyone's interested.
Been enjoying watching what everyone has been posting and looking forward to seeing what other creations folks come up with.
Thanks for your time and feedback,
Anthony

ferreirex reacted to Callum in iOS versions for iPad Pro?
Hi Jim,
We are definitely going to launch some products on iPad, we are researching and testing this right now. As you can see from the video it is running fairly well on an iPad it will run even better on an iPad Pro :)

ferreirex reacted to MEB in Re-size a design
Hi ferreirex,
My reply to your first post was incomplete.
If you want to resize the whole document (not just a group of objects), go to menu File ▸ Document Setup..., enter the new dimensions you want (you can also use math operations in the input box, entering /2 after the existing value for example), make sure the padlock icon is locked to keep the design proportions and make sure Rescale in pressed in Objects will section. This will ensure all objects will be scaled no matter their type.
To resize a group of objects keeping the scale of text object you have to use the additional handle as i said in my previous post.
To scale the strokes of the objects (without rescaling the whole document as described above) you must first tick the Scale with object box in the Strokes panel or from the context toolbar popup (see screenshot below). You can apply this to several objects at once if you select them all before ticking the box.

ferreirex got a reaction from Imago in Actions / Macro Persona
Hey
Can you add this Macros / Actions - Already planned for later as a new Persona (Macro Persona) on Affinity Designer too?
This will be great to reduce the time in some similar projects like the sizes transformations , etc.

Hey everyone! This is my first post here.
In less than a year, Affinity has changed my workflow in ways I couldn't even imagine some time ago. Here it is, my first project developed entirely using Designer.
If you like it, feel free to check it out at Behance and show me some love :-) https://www.behance.net/gallery/31974255/Panic
Thanks!

ferreirex reacted to scamper in Import Palette… - importing .ase and .aco files
When I import swatches using the “Import Palette…” item, I should be able to select palettes saved from Photoshop (ACO – Adobe Photoshop Color Swatch File) or Illustrator (ASE – Adobe Swatch Exchange File).
Are there foreign palette formats that AD can import? Maybe that information should be in the Open dialog box… or somewhere. (The Help Center doesn’t seem to do anything. I can search for a topic like “palette,” but can’t expand the results, so maybe the AD entries are just stubs?)

ferreirex reacted to T.A.V in Import Palette… - importing .ase and .aco files
I'm also looking for the same feature.
I'm very new to the Affinity designer & digital designing in general. (Affinity is the reason I started creating art again).
I found an amazing artwork on dribbble and Instantly wanted to load that pallete and start creating but I couldn't.
Dribbble lets you download the pallete only in .aco and I'm sure so many designers would want that too.
