Out of interest, can any one over at serif give any insight into the likely learning curve someone will have when moving from PPx9 to Affinity Pub? Are there similarities - any feedback would be very useful at this stage...

For pc, they should fix the current issues in page plus and keep that going. It is still the best out there and seems illogical to retire. Given it might be 2019 before affinity publisher has evolved to a good level, we may all be travelling in space ships by then...

System folders should be fine. Regarding cmyk, if you want swift to do your cmyk conversion for you, you export to tif. A lot of printers accept tif (it predates PDF as a file type they originally used I think). Swift handles most file types, so if you insert cmyk images, you can just export to PDF - and it maintains cmyk colours. Sorry, gone quite off topic here!

The only downside with swift is that it doesn't export to cmyk unless you create tif images. For all cmyk artwork, the images need to be converted to cmyk before placing them into your designs.

There is not much else for mac. The best I have found is swift publisher, but it does not have the same level of capabilities.

I have been trying to import a pdf into affinity designer and it doesn't seem to give me an option to import as an image. It therefore imports, but doesn't have the correct fonts, so messes up all the text within the pdf. Is there any way to import a pdf as an image?

Ai files are very similar to pdf files. If you export the file as a pdf. Then change the file type extension from pdf to ai (I.e. Rename nameoffile.pdf to nameoffile.ai) Then you can open the file in Adobe ai and ind Alternatively, Indesign and illustrator can open PDFs directly...

so will the publisher product have more comprehensive styles like 3d?

so it will never have more styles added? That's disappointing. I can replicate most things but a tool to evolve into 3d is one step beyond my capabilities.

Yes - I am aware of publisher but I am hoping they will be adding a broad range of styles to designer in the same way draw plus has them?

I keep trying to move from pc to Mac. The only thing that I need pc for is draw plus and page plus. I have bought both affinity products, but affinity designer still is lacking so many features which are in draw plus. Can you let me know (for example) when you will have more comprehensive "styles"? On the pc I have functions such as 3d which allow me to create 3d text and make 2d images 3d - and I was surprised to find there was no such feature in affinity. Back to draw plus I go....

I am still using a pc until you release it at which point I hope to be able to replace pageplus. Is there long to wait?

If it comes anywhere close to their pc product pageplus, they will be on a winner.
