In the Photo Beta (version 2.1.0.1742(Beta)) the ability to "unlink" the option to resize a document seems to have disappeared.

I was waiting for a response, but hadn't yet had one. So I've logged it anyways As you say it would be more useful to select the entire contents of the mask!

You can use channels panel to save composite alpha as spare channel, and crate a new mask layer from it.
This has its limits, does only work for top level, not for deeply nested sub-layers.

I think I see a way to do what you're trying to do. You might have to dedicate a layer to your bump map, but you'll be able to edit it locally.
Create a pixel layer, give it a solid color (I'm using a darkish green, #1d710c. Call it 'grass'. Create another pixel layer on top of that. Call it 'bumps'. This layer will get your heightmap (I used Filters -> Noise -> Perlin... and on my second try, remembered to set my colors to black and white, rather than black and dark green). Add to this second layer a Live Lighting layer of type 'Directional', with azimuth and elevation set appropriately. Set the pixel layer to 'overlay'. This gives you a layer that can provide your bump map:
Hide the pixel layer to turn off the bumps. Hide the lighting layer (and change the pixel layer's blend mode back to Normal) to see the height map. Edit the pixel layer (height map) to change the bumps. Add a mask layer to the pixel layer (height map) to turn the bumps on and off selectively. (I tried cropping my sample file but the cropped version was bigger! So I went with the original)

Apologies for this,

There was two issues regarding this. The first was that they don't show when a document containing Groups/Layers is opened. The second is that they also don't show if the panel is too long. 

The first one has been fixed, and your issue was incorrectly linked to this one, but the second is still open, which is what your screenshots are showing.. I'll get them linked.

You can't steal something that's in public domain. Maybe that's the case in other situations, but in this specific case that SVG is in public domain.

What's scary about stolen SVG image code via an AI-bot from the net?
You can easily tell where ChatGPT got that code (it crippled) from, namely from Wikipedia (Flag_of_the_United_States.svg) ...

We do support "use".
This particular document is technically invalid SVG due to the circular reference on #s, but it seems many apps silently ignore it and proceed anyway, so that's what we'll do

We are pleased to make available the next update to the 2.1 beta (2.1.0.1736). This will be available for you shortly on auto-update. Below are some of the main changes in this update...
WebP and JPEG XL now available in batch export
As has been commonly requested since adding these new formats to V2, we have now made them available as batch format options in Affinity Photo.

New left swipe options on iPad layers panel
You can now access lock/unlock, rename layer and change compound type (if layer in question is a compound) by swiping left on a layer as shown below:

Brush panel improvements
Texture brushes in Designer persona can now be viewed in thumbnail view (i.e. you now have ability to uncheck "Show as list") Alt-Click on raster brushes now changes brush while keeping your current brush width as well as ignoring associated tool. If you just want to ignore associated tool then use shift-alt-click Auto-select
With auto select turned off you can now hold cmd (Mac/iPad) / ctrl (Windows) to temporarily turn it back on to make another selection on document.
Also note: We have encountered some problems with auto select being off with multi-page documents. For that reason it is currently disabled with a multi-page doc, we are hoping to have a fix for this soon.
Vector flood fill tool
When your bucket is loaded with a colour / fill you can now just click on any object to fill it even if it is not selected. In this case this will just fill the whole object - if you want the fill tool to take into account intersecting shapes and curves they all need to be pre-selected as before. While in the tool you can now just click on an asset or stock item to load your bucket with that bitmap texture (i.e. without having to drag drop as before). This is currently only implemented on desktop, but will be added to iPad in too in the next update. There are new controls for whether you want to add as an additional fill or replace the current fill. To be honest there is still some outstanding work which needs to be done with this, so we will talk more about this / what the expected behaviour is in the next update. A new option to "fill to visible boundaries". This means if any of the objects in your selection are obscuring any line segments from other objects, these can now optionally be ignored by the tool. In the example below - without the new option checked there are 12 possible areas you can fill to, but now you can alternatively choose to just show the 6 areas on the right. 
Crop tool
Cmd / ctrl / shift constrain modifiers are now available when in unconstrained mode as promised.
Dashed lines
We now accept zero as the 2nd and 3rd dash value to give different options, particularly when in combination with balanced lines. This example was discussed on the thread - the left option begins with a dot and when balanced dots are in the rectangle corners. The right option begins with a dash, but the 2nd "dash" can now be set to a dot (zero value) to enable dashes in the corners in this case.

Pencil double tap option for quick menu
If menu is already visible a second double tap will now dismiss it.
Rename Layers
You can now double click / tap on an artboard name to rename it!

I've noticed the same thing recently. Does not work in Photo and Designer beta 2.1.0.1732 on Windows 10.
However, wheel is working correctly in Quick FX panel, but does not work in Layer Effects window, same behaviour for all sliders among all effects.

In 2.1.0.1732 on macOS, accumulation is still acting the same as flow when a brush has no hue, saturation or luminosity jitter.

Just to add if you adjust the Panel width they should re-appear.

Hi - in the latest 2.1 beta we have now reverted behaviour of the mask button in the layers panel back to the same as V1. So one click to add mask, alt-click to add empty mask. There are more details in the post below and it would be great if you wanted to try it out in the beta and let us know what you think - you can sign up to the beta program here.
 
 

I think our sense was that normal masks and empty masks are probably used by most people 10x, 100x more frequently than the other much more specialised / niche use cash masks. For that reason we are much better off getting rid of the extra clicks for the standard masks, even if it makes it slightly less convenient to add the other mask types.

Affinity Photo: Mask button on layers panel
In Version 2 we added the new functionality of being able to apply live range masks (Hue, Luminosity and Band-Pass) as well compound masks to Affinity Photo. As well as being available from the top Layer menu, we also included them in a new drop down when you click the mask icon in the layers panel. 
Helpful feedback has informed us that this drop-down menu is more of a hindrance than anything (as most users just want to add a mask much more frequently than any of the other options). For this reason we have reverted to making single click on the mask button just add a mask. If you want to access the other mask options from the layers panel button you can now do that using Alt+Click.
Assistant auto mask placement (all apps)
When:
Adding mask layer to selection = Add mask based on selection
Within assistant options, the logic is that if the current selection isn't a mask then the mask layer gets placed as a child, but if the current selection is a mask the new mask layer gets placed above. However this was treating both Adjustment Layers and Live Filter layers as Masks for this purpose which was incorrect. Basically now if you have your assistant setting to this and you have either an adjustment or live filter layer selected, the new mask will be added as a child of those layers rather than placed above.
Again we think this is the correct logic and matches feedback we have seen, but let us know what you think.
