  1. +1 for this, it would be extremely handy to have a button that would set that slice dimensions to match the canvas/document. I'm exporting product shots, there are about 40 dog collars that all need to be the same final dimensions, but they take up different dimensions within the document. I have to manually drag the boundaries of every slice to make this happen.

  2. Currently, when I re-open an old project (or have 2 or more open projects) and export assets, the file path opens to the last location used by the application. That means I am constantly having to track down the folder that the document belongs in, to keep things organized.

Is it possible to have Designer remember the Save To file path on a document basis, instead of as a global application basis? That would make things so much simpler and easier to work with.

  4. Hi there, I purchased Designer and Photo through the App store, while I have Publisher through the Affinity store.

Publisher and Designer have been updating just fine, but Photo does not—despite following the official instructions (making sure to reload the App Store page to try and force the update to appear). Affinity Photo is still stuck at 1.7.3 and it will not appear in the Updates section of the App store. Any ideas?

I am on High Sierra 10.13.6

UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers)

The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Photo > About).

If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.

  6. I came to make a request for this. It's absolutely needed and extremely useful!! I have several documents that grow over time as new information gets added.

For example one is a list of Wine Awards—when a new award comes in, I make a new page in the appropriate section and let the following pages shuffle down. Having the ability to define Custom Fields would allow me to set up inputs for repeating subheads (for a subgroup of awards all coming from the same competition for example).

Hoping this makes it into APub 1.8

  7. I have bound hotkeys to Text > Insert > Line Break, Column Break, Frame Break, and Page Break

The only hotkey that works correctly is the default Line Break hotkey (Shift+Return).

The others do not work as expected.

Column Break (bound to Opt+Return) produces a Paragraph Break.

Frame Break (bound to Opt+Enter) produces a Paragraph Break.

Page Break (bound to Shift+Enter) produces a Space of some kind, however it doesn't show the blue dot that a normal space shows when you enable Show Special Characters. It has no symbol.

Selecting each option from the mouse menu works as expected.

  8. + 100 for this!  tried to manually increase the size of the right-hand page in a facing spread, but it increases the size of BOTH pages. I can't make a page with a fold-in tab without a frustrating workaround. I love Publisher and canceled Adobe (I've purchased everything Serif makes) in trust that some of these issues will be getting addressed.

You don't have integer values for Position (X, Y) and Size (W, H). When you export in a raster format, those values fall in between full pixels, therefore you will have "lines". If you fix the values (Just round them up to the nearest integer value) you should be fine.

Ah, so even when working on projects destined for print it may be a good idea to use "force pixel alignment"?

  10. If I make any two straight-edged object and align their straight sides, Designer still shows (and outputs) a small gap between them.

I have a series of triangles with rectangles beneath them, making white pillars. Unless I overlap them, Designer outputs a faint grey line between the two objects, when I expect there to be no visible gap.
