It looks like placing an afphoto file into a picture frame causes the problem. When I replace it with a jpeg file, the export looks fine. The afphoto file includes a levels layer om top ofvthe background layer. -

I uploaded the IDML and afpub file. -
MacOS 10.14.6 – Publisher 1.9.3. I Imported an IDML file, changed some picture frames and exported the file as PDF. Some pages in the PDF show an overlay over the picure. boek.pdf

Solved this by setting controller to pressure.
