Well, the new icons look busy and even less so tell one what the app does. I prefer the original older ones. They show more detail and the new one's looked rushed/pressured to be flat with less precision. The programs are great and deserve top flight icons. The newer icons just don't look "professionally done" to my eye.

One thing I don't see in the 1.5 release, that would be nice, is the ability to change the margin and bleed lines colors.

I've fiddled with it some. Since you figured out symbols, I'm assuming you've already found the constraints tab in the same spot. I'd drag it somewhere other than the same group that has the layers tab so you can work with both easily as you experiment.

Now create a new layer, and put a shape inside of that layer. Select the shape and click on the dotted line connecting the bottom edge of inner square to the bottom edge of the outer square in the constraints tab. Now if you select the bottom edge of the layer and change its size, you should see that the inner shape stays the same distance from the bottom of the layer. You will also note that its height does not change, at least as long as there is room for it in the layer. If, however, you change the left or right edge, the inner shape will move proportionally with the layer since you didn't select those edges.

Now select the rectangle again and select the dotted line running from top to bottom of the inner square. (Leave the bottom anchor selected too.) Now if you move the bottom or the top edge of the layer, you will notice that not only does the shape stay a constant distance from the bottom edge, but the shape also grows proportionally with the remainder of the space.

What I haven't yet figured out is what those two little icons in the lower right corner with the inward and outward facing arrows in the circles do. If someone else has figured that part out, I'd be grateful.

    Hi Timber,

Take a look at my quick test file I made the other day - it's just a simple example of a container (this is ANY object that is 'above' another in the layers panel tree hierarchy) and contents which are constrained. Changing the container will force the contents to be constrained as per the way they are defined. Hopefully the file will make some sense :)

    Those icons control aspect scaling..

One of them will keep the object scaled in aspect - whilst always fitting inside the container (Min fit).

The other will keep the object scaled in aspect but allow it to get bigger than its container (Max fit).

    Hope this helps,

    Andy.

Hi, I've managed to figure out most of the new features - Text Styles, and even Symbols to a large degree, somehow using Constraints seems to elude me? Nothing in Help yet! No tool tips! Just nudge me in the right direction would be helpful. Actually a tutorial of covering all the new items, even though subject to change, would be immensely useful.
    Thanks – Timber

Timber reacted to James Ritson in Questions on exposure merging?
Hi Timber, thanks for posting, hope these answer your questions:

Stacking automatically aligns your images and is a quicker process, that's all there is to it! Manual exposure merging involves aligning the images by hand then masking specific areas. It's more precise but also more time consuming.

HDR is a different beast entirely. With exposure merging you're simply merging exposures in an 8-bit or 16-bit integer document to "average" the exposures. HDR will work in 32-bit floating point and you'll be able to use tone mapping and exposure fusion to achieve the results HDR is more typically associated with.

Yes, you can stack any image format that Photo supports, including RAW. Stacking RAW files takes a little longer as Photo has to decode them first.

TIFFs are lossless (I'm a quality control freak!).

No, you can just add your RAW files straight into the Stacking file dialog, no need to spend time developing them beforehand.

None, it just takes a little longer. It's worth noting that your RAW files will be decoded using whichever RAW engine you've chosen in the Develop persona (see video Maximising Raw Latitude for more info).

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks

With the lens distortion adjustments in the Develop Persona and even the standard Crop Tool in the Photo persona – it would be so very cool to have Inpaint Missing Areas as one does in the Panorama mode. If at all possible - make it so!

Regarding remove style from an object, you can go to Fill (top left) and open the dialog by clicking on the bar.
Choose "None" and you get a clean object with no fill.

But you could also do it the following, simple way:
Create a blue pixel layer below the signature layer. Drag the black signature layer icon onto the blue pixel layer icon in the layers list. This will in effect use the brightness information of the signature layer as a mask information for the blue layer. Does that work for you?  :)
    Cheers, Alex
