We are going to create a Neomorphism Style graphic like this one using Layer Effects. We are going to be working only with three colors, one Main Color, A Shadow color and a lighter highlight color.
 
 
We are going to be working with the following three colors

 
Lets start by creating a blank document. In my case, an A4 Horizontal.

 
Lets select the square shape tool and fill the whole document and give it the MAIN color. This will be the background of our image.
 
 
 
Now create a rounded square shape
 

 
Now while having the newly created shaped selected. Apply the following settings to the "Bevel / Emboss" section of the "Layer Effects". Sorry for the misspell ..LOL 

 
Now apply the following settings to the "Color Overlay" section and close the window.
 

 
You can use the Shadow color to write text over it. And you can save the settings as a Style and apply it to any shape or text you want, as shown below.
 

 
 
Bonus, if you tick the "Invert" option on the Profile of the "Bevel / Emboss" you can create an inset effect. Also, you might want to activate the "Scale with Object" box at the bottom left of this window.

Below is my list of written tutorials I have done over the years. The first few were done using early versions of Affinity programs but they should still be ok. Some menus may have changed or tools look different but the basics are the same.
Also most are for Affinity Photo, but some could be done in Designer. Plus the "Beginners Look at Affinity Photo" ones will pretty much be the same in Affinity Designer and Publisher as all 3 programs have same basic functions.

Activ8 issue 7 -Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher – A look at Styles
This written tutorial, mainly aimed at beginners of any of the Affinity Software made for PC and Mac. It may work the same on iPad version but I don’t own one so can’t confirm that it will.
It looks at what Styles are, how to make some Gradient Styles and some Styles made from images. Then how to Export and Import your newly made Styles.
After that I do a basic overview of a couple of video tutorials I have made in the past. Using the Mirror Filter and the Equation filter to make new images, to then make Styles from.
Lastly, another overview of a recent video tutorial, which looks at using the Vector Crop Tool in Affinity Designer to grab sections of an image to then make Styles from.
The end of this PDF tutorial has interactive links to all the video tutorials and links to the downloads of all the Styles I have made in these video and written tutorials.

Affinity Layers Guide - Understanding Masks, Moves, Crops, Clips, Adjustments.pdf

Hi there!
I saw this post about the resources Apple shares for interface design, for Sketch, Phoroshop and Adobe X D. I downloaded the ZIP file provided by Apple and started to make the AFDESIGN version of it. There are several PSD files with pixel images, and I'm trying to make the closest possible to that, but all here is editable and with lovely vectors and shapes.
Here is the first one of the files. I'll update this Topic when I finish more of these files. Hope this be useful!
Note: You still might want to download the ZIP file to get the fonts SF Pro Display and SF Pro Text.

WOW! Who could have thought this this generous offer would meet with negativity? Affinity continues to set standards.

I have just received your completely unnecessary email of 19 January "We’re here to help – use our apps free for 90 days" WHY I am a registered used of all three apps plus add ons. I do not need to be offered a 90  Day Free Trial, and 50% off all apps etc.
Unnecessary emails clog up email in boxes and will tend in the future to just dump email from affinity without reading them.
Someone in your marketing departments needs to be sacked.
Please put a stop on this type of email to existing customers.

AD 1.9.0.815 Vector brushes still not working.

I am sure it will be fixed shortly...with regards to the document...not opening...you can copy/paste between files (artboards/layers/groups/objects)

There should be an option to copy and paste layer effects 1:1, without any changes to parameters.
When copying and pasting layer effects, editor would change some parameters like sizes, offsets, blurs etc. Assuming it compensates layer size differences. When working on UI its very annoying to keep values in sync between layers.

I know, it is nervy for you but what happens in the case of Boolean Operations Divide?
Since years this issue is standing and nothing happens in this case.

Please understand me right, i like the software, i like it very much to work with it and i like the new additions with hardware accelaration and the other improvments but in my opinion it is a NoGo for such a software that it needs for so long to improve or to fix this function which every graphic worker needs to create own shapes. And it can not be a solution to say "use an other software for this". I have read this in other threads.

Further to the other things, we are looking to add more support for game art users - can't promise this for 1.9 but we are working on it..
 

 
(I have two documents open here - you can see the texture itself, the other document is the normal map - both are being edited and a realtime preview is being rendered on a .obj model in the new Model panel).

A permanent fix should be prioritized. The need for so many workarounds or professional tools to finish/deliver an output file is depressing. The hairline is especially annoying because it is such a visible artifact.
 

Awesome v1.8 is out, but the problem is still present.  Please fix this.

Hello!
I believe power photoshop users would know that there is a way to batch process files using data set from a txt or a csv file. Those type of options allow us to create large number of files say: ID Cards or Visitng Cards with different names with ease. It would be amazing if affinity people can add such possiblities to affinity suite, especially designer or photo.
I sometimes have to do such work and it is a big headache to create everything one by one manually. I know affinity templates can make your work easier but that is sort of a manual task too. I feel there is a lot more affinity templates can do with such dataset and variable connection capabilities. Hope this is the reason why affinity thought of implementing affinity templates since there isn't a great deal of difference between a normal file and a template file.
Hope this is a valuable input. (People who agree can react to this post and show support for the request of this feature!)
