Freehand had the option to: Xtras > Delete > Empty Text Blocks Basically cleaned up all those empty text boxes that get created when you have the text tool selected and accidentally create a text box by clicking/dragging on the page. These sometimes appear as small crosses/boxes* on a PDF. Can accidentally get grouped with other objects on the page making the group larger than necessary. Can get selected when dragging a marquee and end up in places you hadn't intended. General pain in the backside. Thanks

Document rescale taking text into account.

It's a bug I think. Objects group with text behave buggy too. If you select vectors and text > group then > scale it looks fine. If you the > ungroup the text springs back to the original size. It been highlighted. -
Just some quick outlines using the 'smart pen' tool. It's super efficient. A way to "simplify path" as Freehand did would be a nice option. Overall it's a very effective tool set and very intuitive. As cyclists go… Fignon was a specimen.

…like the Object Panel as well - I know screens are bigger these days but have all these functions tucked away in one place was a great feature of Freehand and one of the things that made it so intuitive.

A dedicated guides layer would be good. In Freehand any vector placed on the Guide layer - became a guide, so you weren't restricted to vertical and horizontal lines stretching the full height/width of the page.

… and all the variations of this i.e. CMD + SHIFT + ALT + > = increase by 1 pt. Practically every package I use has this as standard.

Agree that the pivot point can be a pain when moved by mistake - but I'd prefer it to be there than to have no option at all. The modifier key might be an option. As you said Rui - if the handles and pivot point appeared when a modifier key was pressed - then disappeared (or reduced in size) when released that might be a solution.

Just a quick heads-up. Freehand MX (FH11) files exported to PDF open almost perfectly in Affinity. All the text remains editable which is wonderful!

You have to select the frames with the select tool, then select the Text Tool from the tool box for the text options to light up again. It's a pain but would be an easy fix I guess. I really miss the 'Objects' panel here from FH. Click on text - all the text info appears. Click on a vector - all the paths, colours etc appear. Always in the same place. A one stop shop with no multiple pop-up windows and the like.

Export from Freehand > PDF. Open PDF in Affinity - works for me.

There must be a bug in my interface as there's no 'button under the label' but I have found it by clicking on the colour swatch. See the attached clip. Never would have found this in a lifetime. noise-opacity.mov

Thanks - but can't see how to add noise without adding and FX layer????? If I'm working in CMYK/RGB I'm not seeing a colour wheel displayed - just sliders and the spectrum bar with Opacity on it's own below that. What am I missing? S

Have to say the "Noise" options are buried DEEEEP in the interface and only appear once you choose a colour. They also disappear once you choose another colour - which is annoying when you have to drag that slider each time you test a new colour. "Bug" or "Question"?

You can add an Overlay colour and then add a bit of Noise - not perfect, but not bad in the meantime.

I liked the way Freehand let you choose from a drop down menu of shortcuts from other Apps/Versions. Made migrating from one app to a newer much easier. -
The pasteboard hasn't been extended to accommodate these additional assets yet. You could try moving them all onto a separate layer, place them on the page and then export to Aff where you can then access them again. It's limited at the minute in this respect (and others) but it's a feature that they're working on. You could check the 'roadmap' and see when it' sue to appear.

Got that to scale as a group BUT when un-grouped again the text springs back to its original size!

OK - I think the outside additional handle (bottom right) scales text within the group? However, the leading doesn't scale proportionally - or have I just screwed it up?

Select all objects on a page - including text. Group. Drag to scale. Everything scales except text. Is this a bug or a setting option?

Here are the screen shots from Freehand Pasteboard. This shows 8 separate pages of varying sizes sitting on the Pasteboard. This is a zoomed in view (second option of 3). To give you an indication of the size of Freehands Pasteboard here's the zoomed out view. Yes, those small things in the bottom left corner are the pages. Freehands Pasteboard measured 5.63m x 5.63m.
