    + 1 for marking layers as non-printable.
I use it all the time at work, i.e. to mark print-finishing features when sending files to printers (perforations, punch cuts etc.)

The temporary solution is to create a file with document palette on desktop, save the file and open it on iPad.

I moved all office to Affinity, but we still pay Adobe for licenses because we're not able to export PDF files with non-printable layers form Affinity .
Today I'm sending another job to printers that has perforation marked on non-printable layer.
This is not just any feature but something that is used in print industry and professional printing every day.

Just a little request. Can you please make sure that your top menu bar is always visible and not dropping down? It will make easier to record what’s happening on the screen when watching.

Przemysław got a reaction from Cuando in HKS colour systems
    Hello my Friends,
I hope that HKS will be included in future in Affinity software alongside Pantone. For time being, I've prepared CMYK versions of HKS colour systems for coated (K) and uncoated (N) papers (download attached *.afpalette files). HKS 98 & HKS 99 are gold and silver (same in both).
Why? Lots of printers in Europe are using HKS, i.e. Saxoprint and others.

Still relevant. I have a couple different job applications where I switch the cover letters. They look all the same in page preview. So I put giant letters on them to distinguish them. Which best would automatically disappear on export. Excluding whole pages from export would be equally awesome.

Having non printable layers is a must for die cuts, simply have found that I can't trust printers to remove layers before printing, and they blame me because it's a printable layer, equalling a lot of cost on a run of 1,000 8" stickers. Is this something that will be coming to Adesigner?

I agree this it is a necessary feature for Publisher to have non-printing. I'm working on a design that has to work around ring binder holes on an A4 sheet and they're just locked shapes that would print if I forget about them.
A nice way of doing this in Inkscape is the ability to turn a shape into a guide which is then automatically non-printing. You can also 'release' guides to edit or move them. Perhaps this could work in Affinity.

+1 for this feature(set). Need the option for an object to mark it as "non printable" and export pdfs with layers which are not printable.

I totally forgot to post this here, which is really dumb of me, because this is probably one of the most important places that this should be posted!

I worked with the lovely folks over at Serif/Affinity to create this official sample artwork for the release of Affinity Designer 1.7.
You can access the working file of this illustration both on the desktop as well as iPad versions of Designer by browsing the sample artwork section, which will allow you to have a look 'under the hood' to see how the illustration was put together. The artwork also shows up for a moment in the latest Affinity 1.7 video advertisement, and in two of their latest tutorial videos.
Though Designer is primarily a vector based app, I created this piece entirely in the Pixel Persona using raster brushes to show just how versatile the app can be.

You can see more of this over on my Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/christidutoit

...and if you'd like to read my ramblings, I did an interview on the Affinity Spotlight blog too:

Przemysław reacted to Pšenda in Locking layer contents
The existing way of locking the layer does not protect its contents from unwanted change.
It only provides protection before selecting from canvas area and moving contents (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/53707-lockingunlocking-layers/&do=findComment&comment=271924).

But it would also be useful to ensure protecting the layer from unwanted contents modifications.
For example, as it is solved in Photoshop, with "Fully" and "Partialy" lock (https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/moving-stacking-locking-layers.html).

In fact  we need just CMYK /16  and perhaps  CMYK/32  mode for better impasto to normal map on the fly conversion in APhoto.  Nothing extra for very similar impasto to what Corel Painter has .
ps. plus some special  CMYK profile of zero black ink   to convert from RGB.  The profile itself could be done in Photoshop with a help if custom cmyk  dialog.

Isn't the decision of which panels are "studio" panels rather arbitrary?  If not, what's the principle under which some controls pane would be classed as "studio" while some other pane would be "non-studio"?

Honestly, I don’t even think the devs read these forums. People have been complaining about not having this function for years and no one seems to give a crap. It’s very disappointing. Affinity, in many ways, works better for me than Illustrator, but in other ways, it’s just too unwieldy for an efficient tool.

I started this ages ago and stopped a few times as I got bored with it due to it being so fiddly. I adjusted it a bit to get rid of some ugly flare. Too much effort for what it is but oh well.
The outlines looks like a black mess so I've just shown a section.
