JeffreyWalther got a reaction from Bit Arts in What I really hate on Affinity Photo
Does not memorize last folder you saved an image to.
After restart you have to dig through your folders again.
Every other tool memorize the last used folders in the combo box in the save/open file dialog.
Raw development cannot be easily stopped for exit.
You have to exit raw developement first and afterwards to confirm again. This is annyoing.
You cannot save raw development progress.
In raw development, only simple gradient layers. No radial or ellipse.
GUI is slow.
It is really slow and not always responsive.
Sometime I have to choose my pen 3 times till it really gets selected. And window, canvas refresh... all is slow.
Using GTX1050, having 16GB RAM on a i7 Intel 4x 2.2 GHz machine.
Slices tool. No (magnet) alignment of slices available.
No color/luminance range selection. Only poor color picking with tolerance. Does not work most of the times.

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from Fabricio in Publisher V2: Workflow for translations?
Hi!
I was wondering why there is still no way in Publisher to export the texts in a form that can be read by professional translation tools (e.g. Trados) and then import them back. Usually documents need to be created in multiple languages. You want to do the work for the design etc. only once and only exchange the texts from one language to another.
Will there be something in the future?

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from the5andmany in What I really hate on Affinity Photo!!
you cannot save a preset for all adjustments and details made in your project. Each tab is threated separately :-( presets you save do not store the whitebalance :-( presets you save does ignore checkmarks you set in the adjustments (e.h. whitebalance) :-( overall: brush sizes etc. you select are not stored - they a all reset all the time once you switch tback and forth the tools :-( painful: if I want to close Affinity Photo while developing a RAW picture, I don't want to be forced to cancle Developing first and then again hit X again to exit the program and then again being asked to save my work. If I hit X, I want to select, yes.... terminate everything. Done. Why is developing RAW handled that stupid?
Please, Affinity... fix it.
Thank you.

JeffreyWalther reacted to walt.farrell in Designer cannot open PDF files containing embedded fonts correctly
Unfortunately, this is not a bug.
The Affinity Suite simply has never implemented support for using fonts embedded in a PDF, and users must have the proper fonts installed. I'm sure there are many Feature Requests in the Feedback forum to implement this support.

JeffreyWalther reacted to Chris Thompson in Text export/import for language translation and CAT tools
For translated versions of documents, it would be good to be able to export the text from a Publisher document into a format suitable for language translation tools (CAT tools) like Trados etc.
And then be able to import the translated text, replacing the original text. Then all you need is a tidy-up of the translated text, instead of a long, error-prone copy+paste job.
InDesign accomplishes this via IDML, and the CAT tools enable professional translators to see only the text content (stories and index terms/footnotes etc) for translation purposes. So I imagine some kind of XML output would be handy from a developer point of view, and XML may well aid other forms of data interchange too.
Excited to see how things develop.
All the best,
Chris Thompson

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from Jose3DSigner in Photo: How to texture paint without blending?
No, that's not what I want.
I just want to brush my texture over and over to retouch other things. But the painted image is getting darker with every stroke. That's an error.

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from vincer in Designer: Linking objects and curves
Hi,
It would be great if you could link objects and curves with each other, as known as in all mind map tools.
For example, having a simple line connected to two edges of an object.
Now, when I move one object, the line node follows. See picture below.

obviously there are not enough requests for it, otherwise this standard feature would have been built in already, right?

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from RichardMH in Photo V1.10.0 and Hardware Acceleration Still not Usuable
CUDA support (hardware acceleration) in Affinity Photo is unfortunately not usable in version 1.10 either. Despite the latest NVIDIA Studio driver, the operation in Photo is very delayed and jerky. You still have to deactivate the acceleration to be able to work reasonably.

JeffreyWalther reacted to Joachim_L in Develop Persona: Closing window != Cancel?
Closing an image with the X-Button always meant to me aborting / discarding of actions / changes and closing the window. In the Develop Persona it gets more complicated. If you want to close the window with the image you'll get the warning "The current file is being developed. Please complete or cancel before closing the document.". Then you have to press the OK-Button (Action 1), then press the Cancel-Button (Action 2), then press the Yes-Button (Action 3).
Pretty much action for simply closing a window and aborting everything in my opinion.

JeffreyWalther reacted to NotMyFault in Develop Persona: Closing window != Cancel?
I second the request beeing able to cancel develop persona without double-confirmation, even with no confirmation.
Especially if the user did not apply any settings. Nothing is lost at that stage if you close the file.
At least, please make this unwanted nanny an option which i can disable in preferences / settings.
Default: can't close, must use "cancel", must confirm Level amateur: can close, must confirm Level expert: Close will close without any confirmations. As Affinity always enphasizes Photo is more a photo editor than a RAW / Lightroom replacement.
Reasoning:
I have >50.000 RAW files every year. Some of them i want to edit in Photo. Having a series of multiple files in Windows Explorer (large icon), i often double-click on the wrong file.
I use Photo as default App for CR2 files. Having chosen the wrong file, i want to get rid of it as fast as possible, to open the wnated file.
Thank you for listening to your users.

JeffreyWalther reacted to NotMyFault in Develop Persona: Closing window != Cancel?
To be clear: There are 2 different "close" activities
Switch to a different persona Close the Photo app completely
My request is beeing able to close the Photo app when clicking the "x" at the top right corner of the app, without confirmations.

For the moment and my short edits, it seems that unchecking the Hardware Acceleration helps to improve performance.

Hi Jeff,
As mentioned in your other thread, turn off OpenCL or close the Paragraph Panel if it is open.

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from Jowday in What I really hate on Affinity Photo
Thanks for pointing out a point I forgot to mention above:
The interface should be cleaned up in places and
tools should be in one place instead of being spread all over the place.
Adobe Photoshop already has that and it's pretty annoying.

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from bures in What I really hate on Affinity Photo
I mentioned it because even cheap or free tools have this feature.
Even me, if a write a new app in C#, this is one of the first features I implement when loading or saving a file! This is standard!
It is easy to remember the last used paths and store them somewhere.
Slower alternatives? Affinity is slow, there is barely no room to get worse. For example raw developent (processing) takes so long.

JeffreyWalther got a reaction from Fixx in Color Range Selection
Well... I do not know why this simple must have feature is still not available, but I thought to mention it again:
I want to make a selection by just setting a color range (with ramp/luminance options and feathering).

No, I need the canvas to be displayed and scaled to full screen. No buttons, no menu no whatever. PREVIEW!

I wished it was possible to press a key to hide the entire GUI and only to display the canvas in fullscreen.
