I was blaiming the the effort to close a raw document. If you work an any other document except for raw, you can just close the document by "X" and select YES or NO to keep your progress. But, raw requires cancelling the development on a specific way. It would be logical to get the warning dialog of the unprocessed raw picture when the document was closed by "X". YES would close the document without development. NO would abort closing. There is no need to have the separate button "Cancel". Or at least: make "x" the same behaviour like "Cancel".

Creating a green screen capability
JeffreyWalther replied to parishard's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Photo really needs a proper color selection tool (not only green screen). Check this: -
This is the 3rd or 4th time I am asking for this: Please stop the annoying warning when aborting raw development when clicking on "X". It is totally unnecessary that you have to cancel the whole thing at this point in a different way. Then, you need again to confirm cancellation! WTH. I really think that the buttons "Develop" and "Cancel" should be removed. Closing should work via "X" alone. This is standard in every application!

Hello Affinity, my colleague and I are working on a couple of documents in A4 format. In the process, we have encountered an extremely serious bug. When exporting the PDF, the format is changed. From 210 x 297mm document format in the designer, becomes a PDF with 210,1 x 297mm. This must not be!!! This is a serious bug in the software and must be fixed immediately. Error appears in version 1.8.5.703, Windows 10. Tested on two different computers. Error is reproducible: Open Affinity Designer. Create a new A4 document. Check the document setup again. 210 x 297mm. All okay here: Export the blank sheet as PDF: Open the generated PDF in a viewer and check the dimensions: now they are wrong! Double-check: Import the PDF in Affinity Designer and even there check the dimensions: wrong! Instead of 210 x 297mm, we've got 210,1 x 297mm. Please Affinity, fix this as soon as possible. Thank you. Jeff

I mentioned it because even cheap or free tools have this feature. Even me, if a write a new app in C#, this is one of the first features I implement when loading or saving a file! This is standard! It is easy to remember the last used paths and store them somewhere. Slower alternatives? Affinity is slow, there is barely no room to get worse. For example raw developent (processing) takes so long.

Does not memorize last folder you saved an image to. After restart you have to dig through your folders again. Every other tool memorize the last used folders in the combo box in the save/open file dialog. Raw development cannot be easily stopped for exit. You have to exit raw developement first and afterwards to confirm again. This is annyoing. You cannot save raw development progress. In raw development, only simple gradient layers. No radial or ellipse. GUI is slow. It is really slow and not always responsive. Sometime I have to choose my pen 3 times till it really gets selected. And window, canvas refresh... all is slow. Using GTX1050, having 16GB RAM on a i7 Intel 4x 2.2 GHz machine. Slices tool. No (magnet) alignment of slices available. No color/luminance range selection. Only poor color picking with tolerance. Does not work most of the times.

Color Range Selection
JeffreyWalther replied to JeffreyWalther's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
No, I was actually looking for some more professional controls like this, where you also can immediately see the effect while adjusting. -
Well... I do not know why this simple must have feature is still not available, but I thought to mention it again: I want to make a selection by just setting a color range (with ramp/luminance options and feathering).

Coming from the thread above, I really wished there was a way to disable the annoying update notification every time I open Designer, Photo or Publisher. I haven't seen this “feature” in any other application and I really want to decide by my own, when to update. Please, add an option to disable this. Thank you.

I really appreciate that Affinity pushes the products and provides updates, but it seemed to me that this is too often lately. The constant dialogue that appears at startup is annoying. First we updated from 1.7.x to 1.8.1, then came 1.8.2, then a few days later 1.8.3. It sucks if you do this with Photo, Designer and Publisher. Can you at least turn off this reminder? I want to update every 2 months at the most. Because I don't want to update during running projects anyway. Thanks.

This is really annoying. Everytime I restart Affinity Designer (or Photo or Publisher), I have to dive into my folder structures to pick up the right folder, because the dialog is reset. I don't get it. Memorizing folders/files in those dialogs should be available by default, as any other tools do. Even if I create a new app in C#, this is the first thing I implement when creating dialogs.

1. Developing Canon Raw 2 takes forever, compared to 1.7.x 2. Developing raw still cannot be easily cancled and needs a lot of confirmation and clicks. 3. I still cannot save ONE single preset for all raw developing tasks (details, basic adjustments,....) 4. I still cannot save raw development state before developing.

Behaviour of Gradient Tool
JeffreyWalther replied to JeffreyWalther's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
You did not understand. You cannot edit the gradient in Photo, once you have placed it. In Designer, you can. Photo. Insert gradient. You have handles. Photo. You switch tool. Photo. Need to change the previously added gradient. Got o gradient tool... ooops. No handles! In Designer, you can do this of course. But in Photo not, while you can change the arrows afterwards you have added via the arrow tool. So this kind of vector tool in Photo. I think, the gradient tool should work the same as in Designer.
