Yes, I'm not under the belief the magic background removal fairy comes along and deletes the background when I push a button lol. The background was checkered (there was no background to begin with) and the result of my export was a black background after selecting transparent. It's not my first rodeo, I know about what was and what should work now. Perhaps this new version will fix the bug.

This changes nothing for me. I still get a black background on export with everything set to transparent during png export. This software is cheap, but it acts like it sometimes.

I understand that going from Photoshop to Affinity would be a problem with all the layer types Affinity Photo doesn't have. I can't seem to reproduce the issue for Gabe, so maybe it went away by way of magic.

I've been pretty happy with it for some of my macro work, although I haven't done any focus stacking yet (looking forward to it). Be warned Affinity Photo is not the tool for batch processing RAW files. I'm doing that in Capture One. I used the unsharp mask tool, and a curves adjustment on this fruit fly.

"Open Recent" still not fixed after all these years. I mention this bug every time we get new updates. Fix old bugs first, then add your new features (and bugs). This is a problem in every version of Affinity software for Windows and every version of Windows.

I had not added this to my previous list (because I thought I had probably not chosen the correct resizing algorithm). The down-scaling of images is absolute garbage in Affinity Photo. I spent three days redoing a bunch of images for a client when I realized how soft they were compared to my down-scaled Photoshop images. I'm still having to use an old version of Photoshop to do most of my work after two years of trying to make this software part of my workflow. That's it for me. You're too slow fixing your crappy software Serif. It's so frustrating to know I've wasted my time learning what I was told is professional software. At least buying it wasn't a big deal, but I do count that as a waste of money as well.

Yes. I just use the free version (Capture One Express).

A follow up to this. I'm going to be using Capture One for time-lapses.

Yes, and for the privilege of a dual OS license, you'll pay about $500 USD a year for all the applications, $300 or so a year for the single app plan, or about $120 USD a year for the Photoshop only plan. But do remember to never cancel your plan.

Or, you can spend about $100 for both OS licenses (for one title) and obtain perpetually licensed software.

Hmm. It's a really, really tough choice.

You're not doing anything wrong. The "options" in the crop area are completely useless to someone in a production environment. This is my biggest beef with Affinity Photo, and the only reason I do not recommend it to other professionals. I've requested this be addressed, and I received a reply that it would be. All we want is a way to type in dimensions and a resolution desired, and to have Affinity constrain proportionally, and interpolate intelligently when we drag the handles of the crop tool and hit enter. "Just like Photoshop" is probably the bane of their developers existence lol. I crop loads of images every day with an old version of Photoshop, and my shiny new Affinity Photo gets almost zero usebecause of this simple oversight. Actually the only reason I've launched the app since I discovered the crop deficiency (the second time I ever launched it) was by accident.

    Hello!,

First off, I've never heard from anyone at Adobe regarding my feature requests (I've been using it since version 2.0). Needless to say I'm very impressed by this forum!!! I almost feel bad about how harsh I was (I'm accustomed to nobody listening, so perhaps I'd better go back to communicating like a proper human being). Thank you very much for this reply, and it's erased any doubt I have regarding my purchase of Affinity, and it's future! Keep it up!

I'm a bit shocked that there aren't more people who'd like the (non) cropping tool in Affinity Photo rewritten, or perhaps it's still early days for pros to migrate to Affinity. I can't imagine a professional photo editor that doesn't require control over resolution (with built into the crop tool with a choice of interpolation type) and dimensions (constrained when they are typed in... why would you type them in if you wanted your handles to go wherever they want lol?). I don't know why I have to request such an obvious feature. Yes, I know how it's currently done in Affinity Photo, and I'm telling you that you might want to spend more time in Photoshop!
