I don't understand why a bug that is serious for professionals is placed in a beta? Do you think about what you are doing? The apps are completely unusable, with no working color management.
I expect an upgrade right away. Sorry, but that just had to come out.

    Hi @tersmuse,
Please see the below FAQs covering these issues:

tersmuse reacted to NathanC in Photo – CMYK or RGB to greyscale
    Hi @tersmuse,
To clarify, in your example are you converting from CMYK to Greyscale and them sampling for CMYK colour values on the greyscale image?
If I open the same RGB JPEG image in both AFPhoto and Photoshop, convert the documents to the same Generic Grey colour profile and then sample, I'm given a K only value for the greyscale sampler as expected but an equivalent 4C CMYK value in both apps, are you expecting the CMYK value to also read a K only value? If it is giving you a K only CMYK value in Photoshop, is there something you have done differently?
Example below is the Greyscale Generic Grey colour profile, left sampler is Greyscale which shows K only and right is CMYK.

If I then convert from Grey to CMYK, i'm left with the same 4C CMYK values in both apps. In Afphoto, If I wanted the image to be K only I would have to clear the CMY channels on the image layer via the channels panel, however this does result in a significant loss of detail, specifically in the highlights. I'm not aware of a method to convert to CMYK with K only values in this example.
If I have mis-interpreted, could you perhaps provide a little more detail along with some sample files?
    Many thanks!

    @NathanC
You are right. I took another profile (FOGRA ...) and that was saved.
I also had to add ECI manually in version 1
    /Applications/Affinity ….app/Contents/Resources
I completely deleted version 1 with AppCleaner before installing version 2. After reinstalling version 2, the ECI colour profile was included (see screenshot) in the list, so I didn't add it manually. That was a mistake.
I now added the icc files manually in all three apps, selected them – and it is saved. Thanks for the hint!

    Hi @tersmuse,
I've just checked this on my Ventura Mac and the default profile set in preferences is updating in the new document interface as expected, even after a restarting the apps. I also checked in an existing document by changing the colour space to CMYK, it immediately defaulted to ISO coated v2. Unless I have misinterpreted and you were expecting it to change somewhere else?
I don't believe this profile is available as standard on Macs (or mine at least), as I had to install the ICC profile to test this but it did work after moving the ICC profile to my ~/Library/Coloursync/Profiles directory and then restarting the app, I could then set it in Preferences as my default and when I set a document to CMYK in the new document interface, it showed ISO Coated v2 as expected. If you were to try setting another profile as your default in preferences, does this work? Or, if you were to try this with a different default RGB profile, does that work?

This is the an older one, but since the 1.9.1 is out,  just a bit of my view.
The straigth visibility of EVERY object on the page should be the essential and a basic feature of any layout/publishing software. The reason is obvious - you need an absolute control of everything on the page to end up with correct and reliable output.
The question of this topic has been answered in a first 4 posts - it is not possible (yet).
And I have to agree with guys above, the rest are just helping  workarounds (and excuses), which are working only partially, but mainly - slow down the workflow significantly.
It is not just about creating "empty" or "white" boxes and "why would you need them" (really??). They could be whatever - leftovers from previous designs, versions or while working on a design. That just happens! People do make mistakes and we all work under heavy time pressure, so having a objects on page you can't see is a straight way to hell. Because they allways affect other object on the page. Transparency is a "nice" addition to this. You need to know what are you doing, with what, and where it is.
I believe everyone here is on a tight deadlines, so the most important things in our everyday jobs are efficiency, usability and speed, and so is eliminating every possible errors. And this is the right opposite.

You just can't be serious here. Could work for something simple, yes. But right now I have some sort of catalogue in front of me, with more than cca 300 objects on the page - "data merge" driven tables, pictures, lines, small vector shapes + dimensions.. etc. (yes I'm in InDesign). Half of them are in white - texts and lines on a colored background and pics. Changing something on back (upon client request) could lead (and it does) to a massive ammount of invisible objects on a (white) page. There is no way to handle them because I can't see them. Trying to locate them in the layer panel, Ctrl/Cmd + A, delete them all and start over, create temporary colored box under? Switch to Designer? There's no time to play games here....

Many uses for them. They  are here to help you, not to be printed (or visible in final design).
Depends what are you working on. It can be done in different ways but speed and efficiency is the key.
Maybe for creating an independent (and/or weird) text wrap objects - draw a shape, set text wrap, lock it and forget - then just run text box over. Or the opposite - having a clear space around the object - draw a mad or exact shape you need around, group it and move around freely and it will keep the area around clear. Or as a little complicated spacer - draw a shape and lay and snap the other objects around. Or a simple spacer to help you arrange objects. Or when constructing and applying crazy layouts - even with sophisticated guides, grids and measures you can't do everything. Just draw a few boxes and shapes representing the layout and snap objects to them. Then pull some guides and delete them or keep them to copy and paste to transfer layout across different documents. Or sometimes we put empty or white boxes on the page, so in the workflow sw is not ignoring and skipping empty pages. ....

No, that example is very accurate indeed. Also white filled objects are not visible.

    Thanks.
I can see that you have Unlinked some attributes of the layers that the migration moved onto the document page, rather than remaining in the Master Page layer. However, you have Unlinked the same attributes on other layers that were handled successfully and left in the Master Page layer.
So I am really not sure what's going on. One of the Moderators will be able to provide a private upload link to get the file to them, once they see this, and perhaps they'll be able to figure it out.
Alternatively, you could replace the images with sample images, too, and see if it still happens. If so, you could make the file available here directly, and other users might be able to help.

I would like to have an outline / offset path function. The time-consuming workaround via expand stroke is not a solution. It would be nice if this would apply in ver. 1.9, in 1.8 it was apparently still too unpopular?
Maybe a question for the forum? Who would like an outline / offset path function?

Note: My answer is for Publisher only – you don’t say which application you are using.
To give good advice we would really need to know what you wanted to do with text like this, preferably with a visual example, but have you tried using the Initial Words feature – see attached image?
Set the Number of Words high and set the End Characters to just a Tab (delete what’s there and choose Tab from the drop-down).
Or you might be better off with a Table but I can’t tell what you want to do with the text so I can’t say.

Graphic artists often need monochrome bitmaps in order to use them as a transparent graphic with any color in a layout. There are many ways to use 1 bit images in a design. Hard to believe that this is missing.

I've just noticed that no different page sizes are possible.
It is not only needed for books. More often it is used for folders (Tri-Fold), the last (first) page is always smaller, eg 100 / 100 / 97 mm (EU).
    Work on it, Serif!
