Irupe got a reaction from Ron W in Artboard ready-made sizes
I understand what you mean.
Well, in that case, I support that request!! This should work differently because it would save lots of time.
I appreciate your kind help and the time you devoted to explaining all this. 🥇

I'm curious why these new functions were added to Alignment rather than being added to Transform, though. They feel more like object transformation actions than object alignment actions. Am I missing some aspect of how this works?

Q&A
Is this really free? Yes, I'm making it available free of charge. It's copyrighted to prevent others from publishing it as their own. Is there a longer manual I can purchase? No, this is it. Is there an iPad version? No, the steps and screenshots are for the macOS and Windows versions. Is there a version for Designer or Photo? No, but many of the features are the same so you should still find it useful. Why does it use a print layout if it's a PDF? It's a demonstration of how to use the features it describes to create a print book. Previous version for 2.3:

That supposition is incorrect. It is only for creating 1 new Artboard when you create a new Document using that New Document Preset.
It has no relation to creating additional Artboards. As I said above, it would be nice if it worked differently (and this topic is in the Feedback forum, requesting that).

An "Add as preset" for any page size would work for me. 🙂

Irupe reacted to Pšenda in Artboard ready-made sizes
Correctly, "all" formats mentioned in the New dialog should be available, including user Templates, because the user might sometimes want to insert all these options as Artboards. But then the drop-down list would be really long and confusing.
Therefore, I personally think it would require some sort of configurable list option.

Irupe reacted to Designer1 in Artboard ready-made sizes
It would be very practical to be able to insert the preset sizes such as A5, A4, A3, A2, etc. while working. You can actually insert an A2 artboard manually, but you have to know the height and width first. This is very cumbersome and time-consuming.

Hi @Designer1,
I can confirm this is not a bug within the Affinity apps, as the Presets are designed around the 'Devices' section of the New Document dialog -
From the Help File on 'Adding and removing Artboards':
Therefore, I'll move this thread to the Feedback section of our forums, for our devs to see and consider changing these options - or allowing further user choice when creating preset Artboard sizes.
I hope this clears things up!

Irupe reacted to Pyanepsion in Affinity Publisher: What's the difference between print and print(press ready?)
To go further, a print file is available for a printer (therefore in RGB), and a print-ready file is intended for a press (CMYK).
(If it had been correctly translated in the French version, it should read ‘Imprimante’ and ‘Imprimerie’ – it says ‘Imprimer’ and ‘Prêt à l’impression’, which doesn’t mean much).
A file ready to print (Press) is a file which generally contains the following elements:
The safety margin: not materialized on the printing documents, this margin guarantees that the elements will not be truncated during trimming (cutting). Cutting marks: also known as cutting lines, they indicate the final format of the document and also make it possible to identify a possible offset between the front and back. The presence of the bleed: for background elements such as in the example below (graphics, photo or simple coloured background), it is necessary to have these elements extend into the bleed area. The dimensions of the document to be supplied must therefore correspond to the dimensions of the final format + between 2 and 5 mm for the bleed.

Irupe reacted to walt.farrell in How to completely avoid the .afdesign file format
That's a good idea. However, the current situation may partly be to protect you.
They do allow that for the image file formats (JPG, PNG, TIFF), where (I think) they support everything in the standards. And they allow it for PSD, with a warning because they don't support all the PSD properties and saving back over the original PSD file can ruin it (e.g., text will be rasterized, some effects will be lost).
It is not allowed for other formats, including EPS and SVG, and that may also be because it is easy to ruin the original file if you save over it. Again, I believe there are aspects of those file formats that are not fully supported by the Affinity applications, so if you were to save over the original those aspects of the file would be lost. So perhaps they make it harder by not directly allowing Save, and not providing a direct way to save over the original file.

Irupe got a reaction from Alfred in Affinity Publisher: spell checker bad country
Hi, Alfred.
I came across your comment above while searching for something else.
I simply wanted to let you know that we in Uruguay do not speak Portuguese. We speak Spanish.
It is true that we can understand Portuguese quite well, as it has many similarities with Spanish. In a conversation we can easily catch what they are talking about. Same is the case of Italian.
But the official language of Uruguay is Spanish.
Just that...
Best regards from Montevideo!

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have released the new update, 1.8.2, that fixes the issue users were having where the app wouldn't get past the loading screen because of fonts. If you purchased the app from the Affinity Store you can download the update from: https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/1/ https://store.serif.com/update/windows/designer/1/ https://store.serif.com/update/windows/publisher/1/ If you purchased the app from the Microsoft Store the update will be available to download from the updates section. -
