This is the first mention (which I can see in this thread) that you are using an iPad (in a Desktop questions section of the forums).
Does the iPad keyboard not have a percentage symbol?
When you are entering a value, what options do you have for typing values?
(I don’t have an iPad so I don’t know how things work on that sort of thing.)

Yeah, I also have the desktop version, but been busy to turn on the pc..

When you tap the value area to start typing a value, instead show you the iPad keyboard, it popup a small calculator ane simple calculator, it have numbers and the operation symbols (/, *, +, -). It have no percentage symbol.

    To add to this;

You can simply put in the percentage into the transformfield, so no need to add it to the end

But I think, if you put just the percentage by it self, it will calculate the X% of the canvas maybe.. In the case of the video you multiply the object size (in this case the rectanlge) by the percentage you want. In that way technically you sayin "I want the X percentage of this number" and it return the size.

Yes, you can put a percentage, watch my video 😉 (It's easier, my English is not great...)

Woow, that's what I was looking for, so damn easy and I didn't know about that feature. Thanks so much.

I didn't heard anything on the video, if what you mean about ur English is what you wrote, your English is perfect.

    Thanks again.

  4. I would like to fill up a rectangle depending of percent..

Let's say I want a rectangle and I want it to fill it up to 50%, I can do it creating 2 rectangles, 1 transparent and the another which will be the color, if I want it 50% I can use the snapping tool and resize it untill half, but there's a way that I can do it with numbers instead resizing it using the mouse??
Let's say I have another rectangle but I want it fill it up up to 28%, using the mouse I can maybe guess an average, but it wouldn't be exact, u know...
Like I would like to do multiple rectangles, like a bar, and in top of each ones write up top the percentage number and the rectangle will show it the percentage graphically, Idk if I explained well.

  5. Hello:

On Windows 7 when I try to check the Hardware Acceleration option under Performance in Preferences, it tell me, Unsupported Machine Configuration, with the following msg:

    image.png.08235cbba964596a7989db326a1ee0ac.png

Well, I upgrade to Windows 10, to be able to use this option, I updated every single driver, and still don't letting me mark this option. As u can see, it require "Windows 10.0.19042" the same Windows version I have, I updated the direct X, openGL, everything, and still don't let me mark the option.

My video card is "Nvidia GeForce GTX 760" with Adapter RAM of "20488 MB (2GB)".

    Here is more info:

    image.png.2d46412566a236227510c8f49920b403.png

Idk if there any another thing I have to do...

    Thanks ahead!!

  6. I'm using Affinity 1.7.0.258 (Beta).

When I make 2 curves with pressure and then Expand this stroke, then I join both curves in 1 object with the pathfinder "Add" it make a lot of nodes and I think that is not to well have 500+ nodes in a curve that you can made with probably 3 nodes.. while y'all fix the problem, there any way to reduce the amount of nodes? Here I upload a picture for example:image.png.b713f9d7ed4ddaa87495067da5417c09.png

In the image, you can see in the top curve (Already fixed) compared with the bottom curve (No Fixed) and you can tell the difference.

I would like have a option for maintain the same aspect reducing the nodes. So, you can make any shape using the pen, pencil or brush and this option will help you to reduce nodes.

Another issue is, when you expand a stroke with or without pressure, it distortion the beautiful and smooth corner, look the image like example:

    image.png.14f186f3f3fe8dc951685e304c6da8ba.png

In the image, the stoke are the same size, the top one is with pressure and expanded, the second one is the original (No expanded) and the third one is with no pressure and expanded. I would like y'all fix it.

Another Issue is, when I duplicate a object using "Ctrl + Drag the object" it make like 4 or 5 more copies of the same object.

Another problem is, when want resize any shape using "Ctrl + Shift" for scale in the same place keeping the same ratio, of moment starting scaling like if you release the Ctrl Key but you still holding it, so, you have to release the key and hold press again..

  7. Hello:

I was wondering if there a way that you set a constraints or something that you make the text to the same size that the box, but if you write something more long, instead you have to resize manually, it resize for keep the size.

    For example:

I draw a Rectangle with 4 inch width and 4 inch height, then I make the TextBox with the same size width (4 inches) and inside the textbox I have "Test", then I change the word "Test" to "Let's test more" and the textbox keep the 4 width inches, just down the Font points automatically for keep the 4 inches width.

    There a way?

  8. Hello:

I did read that y'all don't have in mind make a animation software, but I really would like that y'all make one, there a lot of peoples that would like that Affinity make a animation software.

I'm willing to pay for it.

I would like that in the future y'all expand the software area to something like following:

    - Animation Software.

    - Video Editor Software.

    - 3D software.

    - IDE for web programming or even desktop application (Using affinity designer for the GUI and pass the design to the IDE and continue working with it).

I would like please put some of those in your plans, y'all can open a donation web site and get founds for make this projects.

    Let us know.

  9. I don't know if I said or report the issues that Affinity Designer have (I didn't tried in Photo, I don't know if have the same Issue) when you make a curve with brush or Pen Tool and then you expand this stroke/curve and the corners instead look smooth, looks like polygon, sharp and I have to fixed. Sometimes look smooth, sometimes looks sharp.

I would like that you can apply wrap/envelope to a text without convert the text to a path (like in Corel).

    Some features for the future:

An additional color palette similar that Inkscape and Corel, but I would like something more original, different.

Option for add a node in the center between 2 nodes.

Now we have 3 options in path Mode "Conver to Sharp, Convert to Smooth and Convert to Smart" I would like another "Convert to Asymmetric".

Show and Hide Transform Square in a node selection, when you select a node or some nodes, you can click a button that show the transform square where you can Scale and rotate the selected nodes.

Option for threat each character from a Text for separate without convert the text to a path. When you create a Text "Test", you can rotate the T, down the e, move the s to the right and rotate little bit without convert this text to a path, something similar like in Corel.

Blend tool for path, create a circle and a Square and when you apply the blend, it will create objects from the circle converting to square, like in inkscape.

Addon where you can find images from google, shutterstock, etc... with the option of add more search's engines.

A Font identifier, it will make you easier identify a font and find similar fonts.

If I got more ideas I will post let y'all know.

Please, can y'all launch the Affinity Designer update before I spend my money?

  10. I can do the Wrap in affinity Photo, but it convert it to a Pixel Layer, the ironic is that I want do something in Affinity Designer, then I have to wrap the text or object in Affinity Photo, it convert it to a Pixel and then I have to use another software for trace the bitmap of this Pixel with the Wrap and then pass to Affinity Designer and continue working... Nobody want to do that. I'm just doing it because I want use Affinity Software, but is too much work and sometimes the trace bitmap no do the work well and I have to edit the nodes... I think that I will gonna stop using affinity for a while because despite that it have good workflow, doing some things, make me behind in my projects.

  11. Why they dont launch the version that they have right now and the continue update it??

They are giving time to another graphics designers to move back to another software again. A bunch of peoples moved to Affinity, but now some are moving back to another softwares, I not want do that, but there tools that I need that Affinity dont have yet. In 2019 the percentage of peoples that use affinity will decrease if they dont launch at least one version with new tools. C'mon Serif, we need your power before 2019 Please!!

  12. Hello...

I know that y'all are working in the road map, and one of the features asked (trace bitmap)..

Here I will give y'all a image that I would like that the quality of this be so good that can convert kind of this images... you can select another for examples... but I know that That one is pretty difficult. I tried different software and cannot give good result... Hope you can do better.

    Here is the image.

Be creative in add tools for do this kind of stuff. I will love more affinity, I love it right now but I will love more with this and I know that many peoples too...

Many software are not so good tracing small lines or objects... and cannot give smooth results in pretty curves.

    what y'all think.

    Thanks!

IMO, good luck with both, tho... These are projects handled by a group of developers, each. Often not very flexible to outside "suggestions". And you would need to convince them about that...While both have from start (unlike krita) not considered things like getting a proper CMYK mode as an important feature. I doubt they'd love to loose control, or go in a direction even slightly different to what they have planned. Also rightly so, as they put tons of free hours in developing them, who has the right to tell them what to do? (even less, in the case of Serif! )... I only mean it wouldn't be an easy task to convince them. But to convince a commercial, closed source company about making a big route change might prove to be even much harder, virtually impossible (ANY company), IMO. Among other things, because salaries and families depend on making the right decisions. And because making money is its main motto (for the salaries, company growth, surviving in a fierce market, etc).

But if there's a first try, it must be with the existing open source projects, imo.  (but they probably will not be very happy to be told their projects aren't professional enough or stuff like that, lol... )

This sound really good. I never thought in that, really good Idea... But the problem is that Affinity Photo and Designer is created from scratch (Everything) and if they will improve gimp, it will be little messy in this aspect. They will work more and more harder adding, changing, removing things from Gimp code than create everything from scratch... But if they contract Gimp employers for do that, it will be a great help... Affinity can buy Gimp for do that, but then, the open source community of Gimp will be look very affected and irritated for that... They can leave Gimp open source and make another version very different for pay..  I really don't know, I guess that is a hard topic and hard decision... Because if they do this with gimp, they have to do the same with inkscape.

Hi @djjss look next to layers menu you will group called effects or you click the object and click on fx down the layers group (this one is what I prefer)

If you select the second option then check the 3D checkbox, highlight the option by clicking on the text of the ssme,  it will display necessary options.

    Just play with....

I saw it, but don't look like in this video that Ben post.

  15. Well, sorry for not specify very well.. I explain here:

i would like that Affinity make a software (IDE) for make GUI in python. That you create the template in affinity designer and you do in the Affinity Python IDE for example. Will be very great something like that. That in the IDE you select if you will use PyQt5, Tkinter, wxpython, gtk, etc...

Sorry again for not explain well in the first time, I was sleepy.

    what y'all think?

I'm for sure buy this IDE if you make it

    Hello @djjss,

welcome to the forum and thank you for your suggestions.

Since you are new here you may have not seen it yet. There is a 'sneak peak' thread started by @Ben, one of the developers of Affinity, that demonstrates exactly what you are asking for rotate and scale nodes. See this post and video it contains.

There are also extended discussions and wishes for the 'convert bitmap to vector' feature. This feature is not available yet and not part of the current roadmap. This feature will most likely be available at some point in the future. For now I want to suggest that you look into other working solutions. Convert with them and bring the result into AD and work on.

Have fun here at the forum :)

    d.

Yes I saw it... In this case is in Mac Version, Im in windows version... About rotate the nodes I mean, just the point... if you make a open curve of 3 points, you select just the middle point and you can rotate it...

And now another question, how you can do 3D in windows version?

We would only make a Linux version if we were confident we would recoup the $500,000 it would cost us to build it.

Why you all dont make a donation page for get this funds?? You will get this qty in a month.. And the linux version can be little bit more expensive than windows version. About the donation, is not donation, if not, that peoples help for the new project. Im sure peoples will do that, I would, I love affinity products and there peoples that love too. I wish you all make affinity for linux. Wold be great. Before do that, you can do a little survey, and peoples votes, like this you can know if is a great idea or not.. When peoples open Affnity in windows, they wikl get the add of the survey in this front page... And peoples votes... Just a suggestion.
